  • Amy Winehose was someone that both gave us some of the best modern tracks in music, as well as a contraversial figure, bookmarked by her death at the age of 27. How does "Back To Black" deal with her complex and short life? The Movie Apprentice gives his full thoughts.

I just feel like not only is it too soon but Amy would absolutely hate having a film made out of her life. She even stated in an interview that she's not an actress or a model and she's no interested in that kinda stuff. This movie serves no purpose to her story. Great review

I think it's safe to say the world loved Amy. I cried when I heard she passed away. Back to black was my first ever album I purchased on an iPod touch(that old). How the world has changed. Thanks for ur video man ❤

This movie just left so much out that would’ve gave us so much context. Like the whole Grammys situation, no one explained she was performing in the uk and not in the us because her visa was denied, she didn’t get to go to Coachella. So all of those nuisances were just missing even from that one night that it wasn’t touched on. How she told her friend she was bored and wanted to be high, and they had to film her performance a few times. Like none of this is in there. What about her recording with Tony Bennett, and going to st Lucia for almost a year and her dad following her there with a camera, like so much happened in the last few years before she passed it seems like she got a Grammy and bam she died. Like what?

a very sensible and detailed take on the movie. great job! i feel i can relate to your analysis a lot. great movie, but really toned down. i wanted to feel her helplessness, her agony, her struggle with substance and toxic relationships and how they drove her to end her life. it was too glorified for the story being told.

Amy beat up Blake because he was trying to strangle her over drugs. She had bruises around her neck after the incident. I'm sure that happened more than once. Her best friend said Blake busted her lip open once over an argument. Amy has attacked Blake but not deliberately as far as i know.
Marisa was horrible as Amy. The accent is exaggerated, she lacks Amy's compassion and humor. "I'm no Spice Girl" was what convinced me this was going to be a terrible movie. Yeah sometimes she sounded like Amy but most of the time not.

Not going to watch the movie! I HATE THAT PEOPLE TRY TO HIDE THE HORRORS OF DRUG ADDICTION!
    ADDICTION IS LACK OF CONNECTION!
IF YOU NOTICE THE 27 Club were all addicts surrounded by many with NO CONNECTION TO ANY!
