That meal you produced looked scrumptious! Your wife’s response to the countless gas stove cylinders you have really amused me. Your daughter’s and partner’s situation I hope will soon be resolved. Many thanks for sharing.
Thank you😀. I can't resist a bargain! We've actually got several of the much bigger camping Gaz cylinders as well (the 904s and 907s). I hope we never have a fire😀 It would be like a factory going up! Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Thank you😀. We’re loving having them with us. They went away for a few days (so we went camping) and it felt really quiet without little maniacs running around😀. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Thank you😀. Yeah, instead of just old photographs we could see what they thought and felt. Plus have a chuckle at the fashions and stuff😀. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
We are away in our motorhome just now. Thought your recipe looked very tasty, I have got all of those ingredients so perfect for tomorrow night's tea! Thank you. We"d certainly like to see more videos from you both.
Thanks for that😀. It was really good. We tried it tonight with some diced chicken in it (also good). I think I’ll try it with cod fillets next. We’re forever looking for these simple ingredient recipes for camping. When we go to Spain in the winter we take them all in a folder. These long Spanish lunches are a big part of the enjoyment for us. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
That is an outrageous amount for a night in a campsite. It looks like a Caravanning and Motorhome Club Site to me which I am a member of. However I have now pretty much stopped taking my camper van anywhere in the UK in July and August, due to the cost. I hope the family get the mortgage situation sorted out. Best of luck!
Thank you😀. Yes it is C&MC. We minimise July/August as well. Just enough to give the van some use really. I worked out that as we pay the membership as well and spend say 12 nights a year on C&MC sites we’re actually paying about £41 a night. There are a lot less visitors from mainland Europe as well. I can’t help thinking if the clubs cut their prices they would get more custom. Okay, the might not make much profit for a while but I can’t help thinking they owe the membership a fair price. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
That stove kit looks like a great setup. My emergency outside mess kit is an induction burner, solar panels and an ecoflow delta 2 power bank. Florida, lots of sun, always the possibility of extended power loss due to storms. I have propane in the rv and it has an outside gas port for grills n such, but I’ve never used the outside port as there isn’t a lot of room to carry a seldom used gas grill or griddle. If I do hanker a camp meal outside, I usually cook over the campfire. That’s usually in the late fall and winter though as the skeeters and noseeums are horrid in the evening right now. I like my lunch outside in my 6’x6’ screen room, but that’s a cold lunch right now. Toooo hot for anything else. Temps in the mid 90s F this week. Afternoon naps inside with the ac on and a fan blowing over the wee Scottie’s tummy. Thanks for the recipe, I think I’ll give that a go and serve it over a packet of Vigo saffron yellow rice. I usually spoon Goya black bean soup over my yellow rice, but this looks like a yummy alternative. I have some andouille sausage on hand and that will do for a trial run. Really nice campsite. I usually camp in state parks. I’ll be glad when school starts back and I have a window of camping opportunity between family camping and snowbird season. As it is, you have to book a year in advance to be sure of a space at State parks, like at 7am when reservations open. Florida recently passed a law that residents can reserve 11 months out, so we have a chance. I look forward to more of your videos. I too have a ‘child’ returned to roost as he was let go due to downsizing. We are enjoying some time together camping, hiking and kayaking, but we have some issues to work out. He likes to get from point A to point B as quick as possible. I like to mosey along and take my time seeing things as I go. That’s why I have an rv, so I can sleep wherever I stop.
Hi Pam😀. Thanks for that😀. It sounds great. Our campsites (at least the ones belonging to the two big clubs) don’t allow campfires. I’ve never camped in the USA, but it’s always seemed to me that you have more space and perhaps fire pits which would be great. Campfires on most UK sites would smoke out your neighbour😀. Plus the rain would put them out! Europe is having a heatwave but up here in Inverness it’s rained nearly every day for two weeks. I’ve been trying to make a video, but the big cameras not weather shielded. I’m hopeful for next week though (plus I have a weather shielded camera coming)😀😀. Hopefully the wee ones will be sorted soon and with a better camera and more camping we will ramp it up a bit. We’ve also just got our ferry ticket for Spain this winter, so got a lot in mind for that. Our van doesn’t have an external gas point, but with the underslung gas tank (only 27 litres) we find we have to conserve gas a bit on these Spanish long stays. The vans small as well so we do try to cook out if possible. Anyway, glad your getting camping and staying cool😀. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Great to see you both and hear you are planning to make more videos. One of our favourites is a chicken, chorizo and chickpea stew with a touch of Tabasco. Hope your daughter and family get sorted with a home soon. ❤
Thanks Sheila😀. I actually made it with chicken tonight! We fed it to little Joey in his highchair and by the time he was done you would have thought he had been painted red😀 Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Nice and easy recipe to follow! Maybe show the wife this as she can't cook and this should be easy for her. Just a quick question why paprika and not tumeric? Hope your daughter and family find something soon as I am praying that my daughters find something !!!!!! Cheers Drew & Linda🏴
Thanks Drew and Linda😀. Yeah, I think minimum ingredients and maximum flavour is the thing for camping. I use smoked paprika mainly for the slightly smoked flavour. When I make Paella I use Tumeric and smoked Paprika, so maybe a bit of Tumeric would be great in this as well. Worth a try! Smoked Paprika, Tumeric, Curry powder and Italian mixed herbs are the three "spice" type things we carry everywhere😀. Hope things go well for your family as well😀. Cheers, Brian and Rhona
Hi Brian and Rhona great vlog does your good lady realise what a catch you are (pardon the fishing Pun) lol a man of many talents and you can cook too or is it just an excuse to buy more gadgets 😂😂😂😂
Hi Kurt😀. She once genuinely said that if we weren’t married I’d be dumped! Mind you that was on a freezing motorcycle camp, she was sitting under a tarp in the rain and I was delighted with myself cooking sausages over an open fire👍. There’s a long list of all the mad ideas I’ve dragged her into😀. It’s pretty much cook or starve! Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
That looked delicious. No need to apologise about your last video - we are all feeling it in one way or another. Just had 2 nights away paid £15 per night (no hook up or shower/toilets) not happy paying £40/night all the time just some of the time🙂x
Thanks Ruth😀. It's such a shame because camping was the thing we did when the kids were young and it was what we could afford. I hope it gets better😏 Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
We bought the trio pack and it’s a real game changer, we’re also looking at the cadac 2 cook but I have a question, does the stove fit in the bag with the quick release coupling connected or do you have to unscrew it as I’ve heard? Oh and I will be trying that recipe.👍
Hi Graham😀. The stove does fit easily in its bag with the quick connector bit on (at least our one does). It actually arrived with a quick release 90deg elbow fitted. It fits in the bag even with that on. I put a straight on which is slightly shorter. However I am going to put the original 90deg back on now because the hose will run in a better direction. Also it is slightly easier to push on the female bit of the connector because you can push against the elbow with your other hand. (Hope that makes sense). Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
