Tsunami is the perfect word for the emotional buttons and triggers.
This is a good video. It's right where I'm at right now and reinforces what I need to keep in mind. The greatest gift you bring Dr. Fox is that sense that things get better with awareness and willingness to stick to the program. I need to keep in mind that things can get better.
Glad it was helpful!
I totally agree
Self compassion! So true & effective.
Awareness is the key.
Thank you for the insights Dr. Fox!
I love your continuous support. Just knowing there is someone out there that is optimistic about the possibilities of people with BPD (traits) is helpful in itself.
You are always so positive and optimistic, it's wonderful!
Brilliant I get it.....just give up trying because everytime I think I am making progress my family trigger me and back to my bed I go.....my parents do not believe that I have a mental illness and my sisters just don't get it....I have no contact with them but my children do...I am trying to move from my home town to get away from them...thinking this is the only way I can recover.... I did a 6 week solo camp in Cornwall and did so well just walking and making diary notes...In 5 years that was the best time I ever felt good about myself...my brother just died and I feel awefull for not going to the funeral..I couldn't because I felt like all eyes would be on me....my 4 grown children I hardly see and my 4 granchildren for fear of losing my mind in front of them..the guilt is overwhelming...I am a yoyo still after 5 years...It is so increddible hard!...Diagnosed at age 50 and wonder if it is any easier the younger you are in getting diagnosed.....PEACE LOVE AND HAPPINESS
I've been doing compassion-based therapy for the last few months, I've found it to be really helpful!
I'm so glad this video was helpful for you. I wish you well.
I like how you say authentic instead of positive view of yourself and one's future. Much easier (and realistic), at least for me.
I have discerned that my emotions are subconsciously triggered and what ever emotion comes to fore helps identify what I need to do to cope and figure out what has triggered it and deal with the issue at hand and make the needed changes. The last trigger was coping with a good event that happened. It did seem out of my comfort zone and still am coping with the event that triggered it. Your video's are so much appreciated. Thanks.
Dr. Fox, Perfect timing! This video is absolutely what I needed today. I see things so differently now. I realize that my "concerning" behavior is currently raising its ugly head. I need to accept the fact the only way I can improve my mental health is to not allow myself to fall back into maladaptive behaviors. Thank you!
P.S. I do like the new format.
This format is definitely helpful! The comparisons in a powerpoint format was easy to understand and more engaging. Thank you for all your work Dr. Fox.
Really needed this video today! Thank you Dr. Fox for keeping me humble and in touch with my BPD
Procrastination & Borderline Personality Disorder.
yes!!!!
My therapist gave me your workbook before I even knew who you were. You've been very informative and helpful through my journey. You are the Good of the world. Thank you
That’s awesome to hear. I wish you well.
Helpful. Thank you. I just left a relationship with a person who had the most intense case of BPD that I’d ever seen. He taught me a lot about how to access emotions and I’ll always love him for that.
I'm glad you found the video helpful. It's important to take away positive lessons even from challenging situations.
I wish there was someone with your knowledge in my area. You are most compassionate and knowledgeable person I know
I do like the slides - am a visual learner so they do help me. For some reason they seem clearer than when you have the bullet points over the video.
That said, I really don't care so long as you keep talking to us and being fabulous :)
I enjoyed this video and its format. The format made the content easier to understand and follow. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I wish you well.
One of the neatest thing I read once was a saying: Progress isn’t perfection. It was almost freeing looking back at my successes and how far I’ve come without feeling guilty for setbacks.
I liked the larger print on the side. It made it easier to read. It was well organized and nice to have the information there throughout the entire talk to continue to be reminded of and it helped keep my attention as well. Thanks.
Doctor Daniel you are blessing to BPD's
Omg im early!! Saving it fr after werk tmr ✨✨
I dig the format.
I'm so glad this video was helpful for you. I wish you well.
Dr. Fox, thank you so much for your work! You are helping me and I appreciate it. ❤️
My pleasure! Thanks
Thank you for your dedication Dr. Fox. It helped me a lot to understand myself in a more sense making way 🙏
I’m so glad. Be well
will there be any content related to this on your channel after this? really bummed about missing this one
You didn’t miss this one it actually debuts later today so yes you’ll have full access to it shortly. Thanks for your interest
Could you make a video about BPD + autism?
Super timely, and the chart made it easier to understand and to refer back to previous comments. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Been watching a number of your videos over the past couple of weeks. I just got your workbook and confirmed (I already deeply suspected) that I am on the BPD spectrum. I am 63, and only in recent years did I become aware of BPD and start thinking that I might have many of the traits. I greatly appreciate your expertise, and maybe even more than that, your compassion, and optimistic outlook for people to get better. Thank you!
Thank you 🙏 for all that you are doing. You have helped me a lot. I’m struggling right now, but I know I’ll get over it. I’m consumed with blaming myself for something that happened this weekend.
Forgive yourself, apologize if appropriate, then move on and use strategies to avoid similar instances in the future. Be well
I really liked the vídeo. And it arrives in a good moment... Some buttons were pressed yesterday, so I am containing yesterday's crisis.
I'll work pn myself to enter remission soon.
Also. I do like the format of the video, although I am used to longer videos so I felt it short even when I know the time and emphasis on each topic was right.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I wish you well.
Great video! I do love the layout of the video. It helps me follow you better and also serves to highlight the main points. This is much appreciated knowing I get distracted often and have to rewind videos because of it.
I'd love to see this layout more often 💙
Dr. Fox, I truly admire you and I'm deeply grateful for you and your material.
Thank you and stay safe🥰💙
I respect and admire the professionalism on this channel. As a person with BPD who has worked in healthcare, I’m seeking a career in the field of psychology. The simple fact that the discussion about BPD is genuinely empathetic and not condescending and prejudice is the real effective help people need. Not forcing people with BPD to bear the stigma of trauma un-associated from the development of their mental health. I’m truly impressed 🙂👍🏽.
I’m so glad the video was helpful for you. Be well.
@@DrDanielFox Yo thanks ✌🏽
Yes. I like this format.
Thank you for your videos. They are so helpful, easy to understand and comforting. This format was great! Love the visuals
Love the format! Thank you.
Enjoyed the live was really good
I needed this exact video right now. Thankyou
Great video!
Thanks for this information
Thank you
Great presentation and format.
This was helpful and the format is great! Thank you
You are god sent 🙏🏻…right video at the right time. Thank you !
Thank you Dr Fox, the awareness is the key to success being aware of the splits and triggers, I just wish it was as easy to control them as it is to be aware of them
Thank you. You make a difference I listen to you I gently take in your words I try to learn and to un-learn. I go back and I listen listen listen. I didn't know there was a difference between triggers and emotional buttons though I should have (!) as this once again happened and overwhelmed me, Its like : i both love and dont ( I wont write "fear" or "hate") like my strong emotions - because they de-rails me - send me off my track - into self blaiming like a tape that goes on repeat. I use alllll my energy to remain calm? To process difficult emotions and to think? Its very exhausting cause I worry a lot and also have to be able to act in a sensible way and to accept things. To fight does things. I thank you for helping me understand what goes on "inside " and for the tools to go against it. For your understanding and compassion (teaching me how to help my self so I can help fx my children ) and KNOWLEDGE!
Thank you Dr. Fox!
You’re welcome.
Love the format and the style! The information is retained better in my head.
That’s great. Thanks for the comment.
Excellent video Dr Fox. I really appreciated the breakdown and clarity of your points. It makes total sense to me. I wad diagnosed with c-ptsd and generalized anxiety and I think I have 2 of the BPD traits - although I’d like another assessment for clarity. So these are very helpful to my healing. Thank you so much!
Thank you!!! Your videos are such a big help!!
You're welcome.
Thank you so much for all the work you do, man. You have no idea how much of an impact you're having on people's lives, for real.
Thank you.
Thank you!!!! X
I'm so glad this video was helpful for you. I wish you well.
Excellent video thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello Dr Guru Fox, have followed you forever, I wanted to say I love this format of video because I personally learn and develop better visually and seeing this video format really helps, thnk you and best wishes from the UK
Thank you and I’m glad you found it helpful
@@DrDanielFox Dr Fox where o felt let down by the UK 🇬🇧 health service for support I have watched your videos and read your books and two years later I have trained to become a mental health support worker for MIND and I owe you a huge thank you for your support to the BPD community, thank you 🙏
recently found out i have bpd.. thank you for this!
Glad I could help!
Love this video and format! This gives me hope and motivation. I'm currently in dbt making great strides. Im excited at the thought of remission! There's hope for us all!
Please continue the great work Dr
Keep up the great work. Glad you found the video helpful.
BPD has cornered me against a wall along with a narc it's very hard
Love the video and format especially. Had time to write down your words faster this way. That way I can look at everytime I need it. It will be a huge help when your words can’t be heard, distorted by that lens, or unfortunately/intentionally forgotten. Thanks again Doc. You’re a great doctor’
Glad you liked it. Be well.
I attended a very academically rigorous small college in the countryside and also did x country and track year round. I developed self discipline out of survival. The self discipline precluded impulsivity of BPD. The college was great in terms of food and shelter. People thought I was weird but no one suspected me of having a big problem such as bpd
Thank you for sharing. I wish you well.
Thank you Dr Fox, so spot on about everything- I need more help to be flexible and void of willfulness. Also I want to try your workbook. Proud of myself for reaching out and starting the steps to begin a DBT group.
That's awesome!! Please take care.
Can you please talk about "shadow people" and the sensation of being observed?
I have not heard of this concept. If you have Instagram please send me a message with a definition of what this is and I will research it and see what I can do to create a video. Thank you
Not sure if this is what you mean but I’ve always had severe anxiety and paranoia about being watched to the point where I couldn’t have any photos up in my house and I had to change my clothes under a blanket 😢 I feel like it comes from built up shame but I’m not sure. It would be nice to have some insight on that.
@@Mel-gz9gb it does exist but not sure as a symptom of BPD. I learnt about it whilst reading a book by Penny Parks. (Rescuing the inner child) its a book for adults that were sexuall abused during childhood. I used to feel watched too.
@@Mel-gz9gb I used to hide every picture in the house and to wash my hair with eyes open because when I close my eyes it feels like someone gets close.
@@DrDanielFox Sure, thanks for the reply.
Really good used it to help reconcile with my bf
How do I know whether it’s my BPD lens, or if it’s reality? For example, I keep dealing with supervisors who kind of pick on me. Like, they find reasons to “correct” me constantly. And, I eventually get so annoyed that I can’t think of anything else. Eventually, these negative thoughts about the supervisor causes me to react strongly to any criticism. I’ve lost jobs because of this. But, what are the chances that I keep being picked on like that? It’s just so frustrating….
BPD is genetic. it runs in my grandmother’s family. everyone has it. my cousin and her family. my family. hope someone identifies the gene.
Dr. Fox, can you please explain the difference between a trigger and an emotional button?
I actually have a video that discusses that very thing.
@@DrDanielFox thank you! Will check it out. The BPD workbook is helping me sooo much
Hello, your videos have help me understand my partner. I was wounder if you know about disassociation identity disorder. If have or could make videos i have been diagnosed with that my partner has borderline personality, paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar. I have PTSD and have been diagnosed with DID. I'm trying to cope with all of these things and making it work
I have a video on dissociation.
Can you do a video on BPD and substance abuse?
It’s coming out in the future.
Hi can you please say what is difference between quiet borderline and complex ptsd! I recall your videos say borderline can be seen in frantic behaviours but if quiet borderline doesn’t show those then it is just like complex ptsd! Does it matter even if they r similar or different?
Good question. I think the answer is more involved than the space permits here.
@@DrDanielFox maybe a new video! Pleassssseeses
Where is my books ?
I don't think I've ever had a remission of symptoms other than when I'm single. Starting to feel like it's impossible for me to be in a relationship, but I really want to make my current one work more than anything. Do other people just go into spontaneous remissions? Or do you mean if they progress in therapy, they might go into a remission? I started DBT 3 months ago.
Hard to say what causes remissions and I think they’re individualized.
@@DrDanielFox Thank you.
I ordered 3 books but it never came and u got my money
I would check whoever you ordered your books from, Amazon, BN, etc. I’m not part of the delivery process. Hope you get them soon.
If BPD is treatable but not curable does it mean people with BPD should be forever in therapy? How can one tell that the therapy has worked and how can one be sure that BPD may not come back? Because one may get caught up with life and forgets the strategies. Right? Seems like BPD strategies are like "pills" that you should take forever. I'm so sorry for the people in BPD spectrum😐
Been watching Dr Fox for a couple of months now. Today for the first time. I went for a run, something I hate doing but know it is necessary to improve my boxing. Instead of dwelling on the stresses in my life, or reminding myself how much I hate running and I always struggle. I became my own cheerleader. I was anxious of how I looked so set myself little visual goals to focus my attention. I said to myself "Right, focus on making it to that lamp post." I did it and said to myself, well that worked. I kept changing the visual goals and telling myself how well I was doing. A tough topic came up and I told myself that I can't think about that now and I responded to myself how I would have to another. "That's ok and makes sense, lets focus on the next goal. Remember small steps." I then realised how I must come across to others and it was profound to think this person was me. That I never gave that kindness and consideration to myself. When I am with a man, I empty and focus fully on them. "I" disappear. I now realise I hope, what I need to practice. Thank you for your videos and books Dr Fox. Helps so much.
You're welcome. Be well.

Do you take patients from Washington State! 🤣
Thank you for asking but I’m not taking new clients at this time.
@@DrDanielFox oh I figured. You are great with understanding BPD. I have yet to find a dr or counselor near me who seems to get it. It’s a shame honestly. Thank you for your devotion to the matter though. It’s greatly appreciated! 💜
