Sega Dreamcast Agetec // LEGENDARY ARCADE STICKS

- Let's take a look at the Sega Dreamcast Agetec arcade stick. This is my favorite console and quite possibly my favorite arcade stick. With so many amazing fighting and shoot-‘em-up games on the Dreamcast, this is a must-have for collectors and Dreamcast lovers. Power Stone anyone?
This video has been re-uploaded due to quality issues as well as my own personal OCD issues. The struggle is real.

I picked up 2 of these when the Dreamcast was dead. I put in so much CVS2 time on them that I transplanted the guts of an OG Xbox controller into one of them (reversible) so that I could keep playing CVS2 when it launched with Xbox Live.
This is a great stick, and probably my personal favorite. I love your modded one. This has re-inspired me to mod my loosey-goosey one for modern play!
Love this channel!
The production quality of your videos is insane. Amazing job 👍
Wow, that custom chrome Dreamcast stick is beautiful. Great job.
Love your channel!
Thank you!
I'd be interested in seeing how you dual modded your stick
Super delayed reaction, but I find the easiest way is to run the corresponding wires into the pin terminals of a Brook board (the exception being the power wire: wire tap it first, then route the tapper to the corresponding screw terminal), and then use the Brook Fighting Cable on the 20-pin and connect to the buttons/joystick with that.
In practice, you're basically trying to have both boards turned on at once and sharing a power supply. The Brook Board handles all the heavy lifting of processing inputs in either mode whilst the Dreamcast board piggybacks the Brook Board by telling it what to do when it's plugged into a Dreamcast (while still being able to handle the VMU).
To do this mod, make sure you know how to crimp wires, and having a heat gun and shrink tubing will DEFINITELY help give you more flexibility on where you place the Brook Board. You'll also need to be able to remove some plastic on the inside of the stick (I used a dremel on one of the sections of one of the plastic cylinders) in order to fit the Brook Board.
Oh also the wires you want to tap to power on the PCB are the VCC wire (blue) and the Ground (black) coming out of the cord
You have four videos and they're all just about arcade sticks... That's my shit, instant sub my dude.
Love this stick the dreamcast is excellent console for shmups and fighters as well as your traditional console games.
Great videos man. You can also change the cherry microswitches directly in the original stick rather than putting in a whole new one. Your mods are dope, thanks again for the vids
Stunning work
I would love to know how you dual modded the stick. I have two of these sitting around just begging for some shmups.
I need one in my life. As a Dreamcast collector with a near NTSC set I need this bad. Lol
Can you do a video on dual modding in general?
There's not much out there for videos on that stuff. I'm currently doing my own dual mod stick and it really took a lot of research on the SRK forums before I felt confident enough to start, and I'm still unsure of a lot of stuff. Especially when it comes to making use of a stick's original front/home panel, I'm honestly doing trial and error at this point cuz I don't know what to look out for.
I might make a video on this topic myself since I'm in the process anyway, but as a noob I don't feel like I know enough to tell others about it.
I can certainly do that. Thanks for the idea!
Brook's made it really easy in recent years: it's literally just wire-tapping the VCC and Ground lines for the cord and connecting them to the corresponding screw terminals in the Brook Board. From there you redirect all the button + directions to the correct Brook board screw terminals. If you cut through one of the support tubes to place your Brook Board, you can just run a Brook Fight Cable (all the cables are color coded as to what they hook up to). If not, you tap the DC wires and connect to the buttons that way.
Also FocusAttack offers Art + Plexi mods now, so instead of dremeling metal you can now drop in 30 mm buttons AND drop some artwork in there.
great video and arcade stick!
I recently bought a nintendo gamecube fighting stick which is super rare, I love it!! it performs amazingly well. From what Ii know there are 2 versions, one is plain with no artwork and the other has Soul Caliber 2 artwork on the stick. They are identical and made by HORI. I'd love to see a video on this arcade stick if you have one or can get your hands on one since they are extremely rare. thanks again and looking forward to seeing more of your videos. cheers!!
Awesome video! I am in the process of modding my Agetec stick, but would like to use it across multiple gaming consoles. Might you have a parts list of items needed to do so? Thanks!
This was my first fightstick. I always pronounced it as age-tech, not "ajitek". Despite being light, I enjoyed the feel of it. While I didn't ever bring it to tournaments, I think the light weight would've been beneficial. Sadly I couldn't enjoy for long, because my cousin sold it to buy weed (I still haven't forgiven him). Thanks for a trip down memory lane!
my man ... that is gorgeous
Great video
Great video. I just picked up one of these the other day. I hope I got a good deal on it for $100. It was in really really good shape in fact nothing wrong with it at all. I was impressed with how much room there was on the inside. I would love to see how you modded yours and how I can get this working on at least the PC.
Awesome! 100 is a great deal when in good shape. Hopefully I can shoot the mod video soon....I got virtua stick pro up next
Any guide on the dual mod? As I’d like to keep the vmu function. How do you get to communicate via usb? Adding another pcb too it and add a switch for switching between them?
You're channel is awesome! Is that a photo etched metal transfer that you used as the Dreamcast logo?
🤩Nice thing! But I'm happy with my hacked Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro Sanwa JLF mod.
I have 2 Topmax Dreamcast arcade pads and they're awesome
I had two of these back in the day... I wish I never sold them.
super curious what your dual mod setup looks like for this stick
This is still my favourite arcade stick after all these years. The spacing between the stick and buttons is perfect. Most modern layouts are too cramped in comparison, like they were made for 8yo Japanese girls. You will need to change out the parts though as they're just not up to par these days.
So what PCB did you use for the dual mod? Is it one of the brook boards?
Also where did you pull ground and power for it?
Rather than replacing my 'Loose Goose' I'd like to tighten it. I'm assuming it's the spring that has to be replaced? Can any standard Sanwa/Seimitsu be swapped in?
It kind of sucks how there's no select button on Dreamcast controllers, it makes certain moves such as Ryu's fake hadoken in alpha 3 awkward to do because you need to press jab + start to do it, instead of just start like in every other version.
There's actually a tutorial that teaches you how to add a button via a 4 Page memory card using a diode to connect Jab + Start so that they activate instantaneously when you push that button
I found out you don't need to replace the loose goose joystick, you can use a sanwa pcb in it.
I added a better spring into mine.
WTF this is exactly what I was looking for.
Need to see a game room tout!
Hoping to shoot that tomorrow!
Good grief. Can't spell!
What’s the song at 3:20 ish? I know it but can’t place it.
The buttons are alps pretty much the duck guts. The stick could be better though.
I wish there was a black version since all this white plastic eventually turns yellow.
Isn’t it difficult to play modern games with only 6 buttons? I mean you cannot use the 2 extra buttons for gameplay. I like this stick overall and the dreamcast is also my favorite. And I don’t play modern games anyway. Just asking. Saturn games can also make use of 8 buttons.
Most fighters don't actually use 8 buttons they're just there on modern sticks to mimic a Controller incase you want to play other games with them
How did you add weight evenly on your modded stick ???
I use tire weights with adhesive backs. I stick them anywhere I can find space while trying to spread them out evenly
@@ScanlineCity Thanks !
You should review the Hori Fighting Stick V3 and the Hori Fighting Stick VX for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and modify them. The V3 and the VX have really crappy parts installed.
I can certainly do that. I have always been curious about those sticks
It Works whit american games ?
Yup
@ScanlineCity Randomly came across this video and I just happen to be modding one at the moment.
On the silver one, you changed the top screws. Do you remember what size they were? I'm looking for replacements
No tutorial? :(
For a dual mod?
@@ScanlineCity yeah dual mod would be ace! But also, that chrome DC logo omg...
@@ScanlineCity still need the dual mod video! :)
