The Dreamcast is the most perfect system ever. Had it remained alive by SEGA and other third party developers then it would have been the best system of all time in my eyes. Sorry I don't count all of those shmups (shoot 'em ups) that came after Dreamcast's death as legitimate releases because they system was capable of so much more by the elite third party developers and SEGA themselves.
Yes, I believe it would have been the greatest system of that generation if it had only been supported a little while longer (even just by a year or so!). I think Shenmue 2 would have faired much better on the Dreamcast than the Xbox; I also think a 3rd Sonic Adventure game would have kept the system competitive with the other 6th-Gen consoles. If SEGA hadn't released the Sega CD/32X add-ons (or at least properly supported them), I truly believe they could have salvaged their brand and remained a competitor in the home console market.
They absolutely had these in the USA, I used to own 2 of them back when the Dreamcast was still considered current-gen. I believe in the US they were sold under the "Agetec" name as that's the manufacturer, even though they're branded as being an official Sega product.
twistedsymphony agreed, they were imported by Agetec, and they were quite frankly the best sticks I've ever used. I had 2 of them I case one broke. They were freaking impossible to find which is why I bought two ...@ Kay bee toys no less...Shit I even found my Namco Joystick @ Kay Bee just before they went under!! only Kay bee!
The Buttons and joystick ball top is green because the Sega Astro City arcade machines (mostly available in Japan) Player 1 side is Green, Player two is Pink.
@DubsBrown delayed reaction but I would totally do that. Probably already know that the buttons are 28mm, so if you're gonna mod it, you either need to dremel the metal plating OR get the Plexiglass + Art mod at Focus Attack
My Dreamcast is still working, only had to change the cmos battery so it remembers the date and time also still have this arcade stick going strong over here in the U.K both picked up on release date, still my favourite console of all time having so many great arcade games converted to it.
If you have a slimline, learn to replace the laser. It's cheap, easy, and pretty much mandatory. Like I've already mentioned, keep an eye on the ribbon connected to the laser. It will constantly warp and eventually start scratching rings into expensive classic games.
This console was WAYYY ahead of its time, being released in the 90's with full VGA/480p support, second screen technology, arcade-level graphics, strong online support, free DLC & a truly unique and enjoyable library of games... not to mention crazy accessories out the wazoo.
fighting games may be more nostalgic than open world games think This console along with the Neo Geo are unforgettable legends Sega and snk ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's not a Japanese exclusive. They were released in Europe. I know because I bought one from the UK, one from Greece, and then mailed them to Canada. It also works with USB with an adapter so it works on PS3s! I play SF4 with this!
You could, theoretically, buy a sanwa stick for your Xbox360, like the Madcatz Tournament Edition sticks, hook it up to the PC (it's natively supported), and run a Dreamcast emulator.
As far as I remember that thing got an official European release. At least I have seen pictures of the european packaging, you know, those white / blue boxes.
It was out here in the UK, so it can't be a Japanese exclusive. I have a early Japanese Dreamcast and it's still white. There was a more yellow version out as well.
Yeah, and it was released in the US too, it just wasn't an official SEGA product. That didn't matter, because the distributor was the only difference- it was the same controller.
Even through the footage is just a shot of a CRT tv, I can already tell that marvel vs SNK on here is MUCH higher resolution than the PS2s Marvel vs capcom 2 port. The dreamcast really did have some great hardware for the time, wish it would have held in there alongside the PS2; would have made for some stiff and intense competition
I'm only on my second PS2 - only because I traded my old one in for an Xbox back in the day - now I have an Xbox 360 and a PS2. I play my PS2 much more often and I plan on getting either a Sega Genesis or Sega Dreamcast.
I have that exact same arcade stick O: there is a US release from Agetek. I actually have two of these that I bought for 7 bucks each from the local 79cent Plus store behind my apartment.
Even better, it works with anything that doesn’t explicitly require the analog stick and L/R triggers. The joystick is just mapped to a standard Dreamcast d-pad, and the buttons map to themselves. C and Z are actually distinct buttons separate from L/R (and they don’t exist on standard controllers) so they may not always function.
Dope, man. I'm thinking about buying this stick specifically to play Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Is the joystick gate square or octagonal? I'm guessing square since it's Japanese
This stick was in fact released state side just not by Sega, was imported by Agetec. Thank you Agetec and Kay-Bee toys for selling me the best arcade stick I've ever owned!!
It doesn't, although I can see were you may have gotten mixed up, the Lemon edition is slightly more yellow were as this is the Lord Karnage Yellow Edition.
When the year 2084 comes around, and all hell breaks loose, Lord Karnage will have to break out his massive LaserDisc collection and rewind time once again saving all of humanity.
That's very interesting. Lol. I'm actually not all that interested in those details right now but when it comes to arcade sticks what parts are used, and build quality are the things I look for, but since I don't own a dreamcast and already have a Madcatz TE, it doesn't really matter too much. Thanks for info though.
...Or you get a cheap adapter and use a PS2 arcade stick. Any way you do it, get an arcade stick on Dreamcast! It makes the experience 10 times better.
You need to replace your Dreamcast Mark, the plastic has turned yellow. Also the Arcade Stick in Europe actually exists.I should know because i own one!
Hi mark huge Sega fan but i never owned a Dreamcast but with the rate of such HD ports and other standard ports of Dreamcast games becoming available on the PSN is it worth buying? Oh and when will Sega make a Mastermega32xCDDream Machine i want a box that can play all of what Sega has to offer and i want it to look cool :D
Marc Oken It’s region-free, lol. They were made in all three regions, and they’re all exactly the same (the video is wrong that they’re Japanese-only). The game Capcom vs SNK 2 is Japanese-only, though. :)
I managed to find this, earlier today, at a local game store, for 50 bucks. Words alone can't express my joy for finding this.
You know shit's about to get real when your controller is bigger than your console.
GhostBlade The fighting games were glorious on the Dreamcast and Saturn.
+GhostBlade It has flaws.
I believe in the US they were sold under the "Agetec" name as that's the manufacturer, even though they're branded as being an official Sega product.
Correct. They were sold under the brand Agetec in the US.
Yep. BUT I WISH I HAD A DREAMCASTZ >:O
twistedsymphony agreed, they were imported by Agetec, and they were quite frankly the best sticks I've ever used.
Now I want to get two and make the second Pink
@DubsBrown delayed reaction but I would totally do that.
Probably already know that the buttons are 28mm, so if you're gonna mod it, you either need to dremel the metal plating OR get the Plexiglass + Art mod at Focus Attack
@@KetsubanSolo I already know that, I modded a few of these for other people.
This made me happy because my dad had this same fight stick. I miss that stick. Good times. :)
My Dreamcast is still working, only had to change the cmos battery so it remembers the date and time also still have this arcade stick going strong over here in the U.K both picked up on release date, still my favourite console of all time having so many great arcade games converted to it.
What a fantastic arcade stick. I gotta find one of these now!!
Ah Capcom VS SNK 2. The best vs fighting game ever created.
Indeed, a shame that capcom only released this for the Japanese DC. However, I believe the DC was exiting stage left at the time of release.
I imported this stick from Japan with Capcom Vs SNK 1, back when games took a age to come to Europe if at all.
Had a Dreamcast when i was about 5, loved playing Crazi Taxi, Sega Bass Fishing and ESPECIALLY Jet Set Radio!
I got so excited when I heard mark say "Maryland" (the state I live in), more than I probably should have...
Oh my gosh, my parents bought me this Fight Stick + Marvel vs Capcom.
BEST CHRISTMAS EVER.
True on both counts. Played a lot of fighting games on Dreamcast back in the day, never had a problem using the d-pad on any of them.
If you have a slimline, learn to replace the laser. It's cheap, easy, and pretty much mandatory.
Like I've already mentioned, keep an eye on the ribbon connected to the laser. It will constantly warp and eventually start scratching rings into expensive classic games.
it does, and you can mod it with Shawna Joystick and Buttons as the stock one has the ability to get stuck at times
This console was WAYYY ahead of its time, being released in the 90's with full VGA/480p support, second screen technology, arcade-level graphics, strong online support, free DLC & a truly unique and enjoyable library of games... not to mention crazy accessories out the wazoo.
Thanks for the coffee, I needed it after playing my dreamcast all night
Oh my god, Sega has predicted the end of the world!!!
Okay this controller is just awesome.
the bright green buttons are from the sega astro-city candy cab, player 1
I Painted the buttons, now looks more rainbow, it's beatyful :')
Why did you paint the buttons? New buttons are 3$ each online and only take 10 minutes to replace.
draggonhedd I Know, but because sometimes I prefer to do by myself, but anyway thanks for the info about the price of new buttons
I had a honor to play with this one that thing is so fricking awesome
I would love to see some real life Chun-li on Chun-li action!
thanks Classic Game Room. you cheer me up when I'm sick
This came out here in the U.S., even Sega had it at its tour across America. Just had a limited release and was distributed by age tech .
It did get released in the US. I bought mine a little after I bought my dreamcast. Agetek released them.
you should make a channels "moderngameroom" cause i love your modern game reviews
It was released in the US as well by Agetec. Mark is wrong that it was Japan-only. Sega didn't release it itself in the US, but it was sold here.
It's so beautiful I think I'm gonna cry...
Man tears.
I wish I had a Sega Dreamcast...
Yes it does... You can hear them on the video. :) Thats a sign of a good microswitch.
My favorite arcade stick by far :)
fighting games may be more nostalgic than open world games think This console along with the Neo Geo are unforgettable legends Sega and snk ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i been looking to get one of those for over 5 years lol
The US version was put out by Agetec. Awesome stick.
Yeeeaaaaaahhhh!!!! The good ol' Green Goblin! I've never felt another Arcade stick that feels so, so...right.
I got one of these from a yard sale, never knew it wasn't made for america though.
Thing works like a charm and was only 10 bucks!!!
How do you do to record the crt image without refresh effect? Awesome quality video
This arcade stick was sold in the US but it was branded as an Agetec brand stick. It's the same product though.
Oh man, the english subtitles transcription makes some hilarious reading: "culbertson charlie on turn reaction suddenly winds"
Got one of these from a buddy, it's really one of the best arcade sticks available.
Im on my 2nd Dreamcast, and 3rd PS2. Getting a Slim PS2 fixed everything.
My dreamcast was just old, and took a turn for the worst.
It's not a Japanese exclusive. They were released in Europe. I know because I bought one from the UK, one from Greece, and then mailed them to Canada. It also works with USB with an adapter so it works on PS3s! I play SF4 with this!
The arcade stick was released in the UK but i could afford one as a kid :( would love one for power stone though!
Here's a tip to stop the controller from slipping: Get an anti slip table cloth. That thing work well enough.
Kaybee Toys had then on release day for Dreamcast. I bought two when I got my Dreamcast
It was out here in the UK, so it can't be a Japanese exclusive. I have a early Japanese Dreamcast and it's still white. There was a more yellow version out as well.
Not Japan only. It came out in Europe as well.
I like bloopers at the end of videos
Hello....What CRT tv are you using..?I wanna buy a sony one too and yours seems pretty sweet quality.
The Agetec stick was the best stock arcade stick ever made.
I'm only on my second PS2 - only because I traded my old one in for an Xbox back in the day - now I have an Xbox 360 and a PS2. I play my PS2 much more often and I plan on getting either a Sega Genesis or Sega Dreamcast.
I bet you could fit all the workings of a dreamcast, plus an LCD screen and L-ion battery into that stick and make a portable arcade.
It was Released in the US also I got mine from Toy's R US.
good music mark!
glad you have taking a liking to brazilian music
This particular peripheral wasn't exclusive to Japan, it was released in all regions (including North America).
I have that exact same arcade stick O: there is a US release from Agetek.
I actually have two of these that I bought for 7 bucks each from the local 79cent Plus store behind my apartment.
Ascii released this in the States. Limited quantities, for sure. I bought mine in us box at gamestop. lol
Hey, this is video was released 3 days after my birthday in 2012!😃
Question-can you only use this joystick on 2D fighters or shooters, or could I use it on a Dreamcast game like Zombie Revenge?
dave4shmups I'm like over a year late, but if you haven't found an answer to your question, then yes, yes it works with 3D shoot/beat 'em ups
This was not a Japanese only arcade stick. We got these aswell in the U.S
I definitely gotta get, two of those dreamcast arcade sticks.
Since I plan, on getting a new dreamcast console soon. ^_^
I prefer using my X-Arcade with my Dreamcast, but that stick looks pretty cool.
I so want that mug
There was definitely a western release, i remember playing on this thing
+Rob Rowman Yeah, I've a European one here at home in my own gamesroom
I don't always drink coffee but when I do its off a Classic Game Room coffee cup
If U can do so would U play Zaxxon with the Dreamcast Arcade Stick?
Dope, man. I'm thinking about buying this stick specifically to play Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Is the joystick gate square or octagonal? I'm guessing square since it's Japanese
It’s square, but it can be modded to octagonal. The controller uses standard arcade parts so it’s not hard to work with or find replacement parts for.
This stick was in fact released state side just not by Sega, was imported by Agetec. Thank you Agetec and Kay-Bee toys for selling me the best arcade stick I've ever owned!!
Easily the best accessory if you dig the dc fighters (who doesn't)
Third Strike in particular just feels so right with the joystick...
I had wanting this thing so badly
The sexiest official Arcade fightstick.
Awesome joystick!!
It's a good stick. The newer Hori ones are probably a little better but it's good enough for most.
It doesn't, although I can see were you may have gotten mixed up, the Lemon edition is slightly more yellow were as this is the Lord Karnage Yellow Edition.
Would you happen to know what brand of buttons they are? Hori? or did sega actually craft their own stick and buttons like Madcatz?
Mark you should paint that yellowed DC!
Dreamcast forever \O/
That looks very similar to the Tekken 5 stick, my favorite arcade stick. I use it on the PC and PS3.
Getting a slimline fixed everything wrong with the PS2 for me. Since I've gotten it, I haven't had issues with it.
Actually, that particular arcade stick did see an American release by Agetec.
Fair point.
Maybe it was distributed in Europe as well and he got the information wrong.
Oh man I wish I had one of those!
...Or you get a cheap adapter and use a PS2 arcade stick. Any way you do it, get an arcade stick on Dreamcast! It makes the experience 10 times better.
still got a dreamcast, many got rid of theirs for the ps2 but not me.
You need to replace your Dreamcast Mark, the plastic has turned yellow.
Also the Arcade Stick in Europe actually exists.I should know because i own one!
SWEET!!! I Found a Inovation Dreamcast Arcade stick is it anygood?
that sounds like a nice mechanical joystick.. did they actually put real parts in that controller?
Does it work with Virtua Fighter TB, or Soul Caliber???
+Flight116 Yes. It'll work with any fighting game on the DC.
Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh The ol' Green Goblin!
Also, there was a US release version iirc.
Green was to reflect the owl city Japanese sega arcade machines but they had 2 pink buttons.
Look at how good Capcom V SNK is. Amazing...
One question. That arcade stick for the Dreamcast is only available for the Japanese Dreamcast only or can you play it on a Dreamcast made in the USA?
Marc Oken It’s region-free, lol. They were made in all three regions, and they’re all exactly the same (the video is wrong that they’re Japanese-only). The game Capcom vs SNK 2 is Japanese-only, though. :)
