2015 would be the best one for now if you really want to have updates for the next 5 years but the best bang for the buck would be the 2014 imo. I’m not sure why but in Germany the 2013 model has the same price in the used market like the 2014 and sometimes even higher for some reason? Definitely going to buy one this summer because of SwiftUI which is just amazing for coding Apps.
Late 2013 should be supported as long as 2015. 2013, 2014, 2015 all have similar CPU. Main difference is GPU and SSD is x2 vs x4. I think 2015 is best as you said since it also has the faster GPU, but if that doesn't matter then late 2013 or 2014 model is fine. 2015 has battery recall right now.

Nice tests! Keep in mind that our brain “sees” improvement on an exponential curve meaning the x4 performance increase will be registered as x2. Anything less than 50% increase won’t be even noticed. None of these Intel laptops are worth updating, I’m not parting with my mid 2014 which on top of that can still run older software I use (Aperture)

I see. This could be due to the graphics switching. I notice the older one with nvidia 650m transitions better from igpu to dgpu compared to the newer AMD models. However once the switching is done they’re about equal in smoothness
I dont have the 13 model however I have used both 2016 and 2014 13 models and my opinion is the same as this video. 13 2015 and older has better keyboard, all these ports etc. Screen on the 2016+ is better though.
You can upgrade/replace: SSD (Apple or M.2 using adapter) Battery WiFi Card (airport board) Everything else (CPU, RAM, etc. is soldered) Fans, heatsink, speakers, logic board can of course be replaced.

Had my baby throughout my graphic design course and did set me back £2400 at the time. Think im going to get the screen fixed and hang on a few more years. Looked after it so much and im gutted the screen broke but £200-£300 third party or £500-£700 though apple is still much less than £2000-£2600 for a newer model.

For any normal person, it is the information that was more relevant. And quite frankly didn't see anything wrong with the graphs. Not everyone is a graphic designer. - Coming from a graphic designer.
I've heard the newer 2019 i9 model seems to throttle less and it also has 8 cores so it should perform better. I'm waiting for the 16" macbook pro to review then we will see their latest and best.
Want to explain why it's manipulative? The render took seconds but the 2018 was 16% faster. Now imagine I used a more complex track that took the 2018 5 minutes to complete, the 2013 would take 6 minutes if scaled the same way. The longer the render time, the more apparent the difference would be. Since this was my first time working with these graphs I went with these, but scaling should be a bit more apparent next time around.
@@cs.studios My complaint is only with the scale of the graphs which you seem to recognize is the issue. The scale for the graph makes no sense for comparing the two values. The percent difference may be 16 percent but the graph scale visually implies that the 2018 is 4x the speed. It is much more accurate to have the X axis scale starting from zero. Otherwise it is good. I should re-phrase my original comment, the graph was not intentionally manipulative.
Yeah I plan to make the graphs much better for my upcoming videos. I tried using Keynote and have since switched to PowerPoint/Excel on my newer videos which produce better results.
2013 is one of the best MacBooks ... but the thing is that now with their new ecosystem based on de M1 processor, soon it will be outdated not BC of its performance, but BC of Apple support on old MacBook pros. Sad because it works just as de first day I bought it. Although, there are some nasty stains due the staingate thing that is all over 2015 and before MacBook pros.
Since Apple still sells intel based macs we should see support for intel based macs for awhile. Might lose support for newest Os on 2015 and older macs in 1-2 versions
hi. I had the same problem with the screen because of Staingate and I found by using Baby Wipes, it removes the top layer that caused the problem in the first place and now the screen is as good as new, I hope it helps

Stick with the older Macbook pro. Max out the ram to 16 gb, switch your hard disk to a SSD - Solid State Drive. VERY noticeably quicker. Your cpu, temp may change but do not be concerned SSD's have different temps "Most SSDs are rated for running within a temperature . 32'F to 158'F, 0'C to 70'C." Google's answer on What temperature should a SSD run at on a laptop.

Yes, as long as it’s the 15” model. I can handle my nikon d300s/d750/z50/d500 images easily. My d800 images work too just a bit slower.
