Hey Terry! It's been quite a while since I've tuned into one of your beech walks. For sure, it was my loss. It was a great walk today and no worries about the wind. It sounded just like you were next to an ocean. Wow! Modern technology is sure something. Congrats on the 50K subscribers! That's just as good as getting your name in the phone book (do you know the movie I'm referring to?). You are now somebody! When living in Melbourne FL we were swimming about chest deep. I was about 50 ft from my wife and she got a big bump. We got outta the water and saw a fin go by afterwards. We never been back in the ocean since.

Born and raised in Sarasota. And I almost have panic attacks remembering all the times I was out, obliviously floating around in that water 😱 I’ve been addicted to watching shark documentaries lately.. And I will NEVER go in our oceans again! I haven’t been in over 15 years already. And no plan on ever stepping foot in again.
Things have changed. Shark sightings and bites really started to show about 5 years ago. I lived on a barrier island for 6 years and would not go past my knee. Especially with people reeling in 13' Hammerheads and 10' Bulls.
The ladies never seen a great white shark in aquarium cause they don't have great white sharks In aquariums. And they don't have great white sharks washing up on the beaches In Boca Raton😂
Great whites have never survived in aquariums. Anybody who knows anything about sharks knows they can’t be kept in captivity. I doubt this woman witnessed a GW beach itself….
Ya, you guys have the most aggressive and dangerous shark on Earth, in your waters. The bull shark and tiger sharks next. I would much rather swim with great whites, over the bull and tiger sharks.
In the 80s in the navy Killer sharks use to try to attack us in the water close to the beach in Diego Garcia and in Australia, and videos popping up of them doing it still.

I can give myself a panic attack thinking about the time I went to bike week in Daytona (I live in Tampa Bay Area) but after several drinks myself and another girl went into the ocean at night (it was a dare) I am older and wiser now and would never do that again. As a matter of fact I don’t go into the ocean anymore. I’m good sitting in my lawn chair with my feet in the water. There has been too many shark attacks lately. I’m good.
Same with me Terry. It's a reason I haven't been out past a few feet. Sharks scare me to death. When I was young, off Cocoa Beach, a shark circled around me and then attacked my friend. I was pretty traumatized after that and don't think I go out but a few feet now. I miss swimming out, but it's not worth it. Love pools now. hehe

I live on the NC coast, fish here all of the time. Many people have asked me about swimming in the ocean, even though I have been a great swimmer since childhood, my answer is "I am not swimming in the ocean as long as my boat is floating". I also shark fish, I have caught good size sharks within a mile of the beach. I had an 8' hammerhead come up beside the boat when I was trolling for spanish mackrel, I was close enough to the beach to see what color swimsuits people were wearing. We had a few shark bites on the NC coast a few years ago, that was the year many fishermen were talking about how the tides and winds were pushing bait fish up along the beach. The larger fish go in to get the bait fish, then the shark go in to get everything. If you ever smell very strong fish smell along the beach, may be a good idea to stay out of the water, that is a sign of bait schools along the beach. We go to the Fl Keys every Spring tarpon and shark fishing, I have caught large sharks down there.
I used to live in Melbourne and another crazy thing I used to do with a guy from Maryland, was swimming out as far as we could and sit there treading water forever. It makes me panic thinking about now. Who knows how many sharks were around us.
I put my beach lounger in the sand where the tide can come up over me waist high. I won't go further. I can feel the ocean's strength. So powerful. I won't go in over knee high. No thanks
A shark might pass 100 people and not bother any of them. But you catch a hungry shark or one that is in protective mode (babies around) territorial… And you are next in their sites!
I saw five different times a 50'ft to 100'ft huge sharks with 6'-7' fins up close and funny how scientists say Megs don't exist anymore, trust me they exist mostly around Mexico and Guam and as in islands throughout the Pacific
