We just had a part of this campaign where we fought a nightmare monster that started off as a small dog like thing that someone named Mister Jingles bc it had a bell. My friend, who was attacked when Mister Jingles began to transform cried out "Bad Mister Jingles, Bad! No treats for you!"
Considering most of the cast is new to DnD they were absolutely amazing at the live roleplaying of their characters. Lae'zel being a grumpy frog, and Shadowheart being a (not so) secret softy
Critical Role started very similarly, so not too surprising theyre doing well. Although playing a character you were assigned a role for in a game that exploded in popularity is something wholly unique and I'm diggin it
To be fair, all of these people are professional actors. Given improv is an important part of that kind of job, and the fact that dnd is primarily a game of improv, it's not all that surprising they played into their roles rather naturally.
@@capriciousart3466 i imagine Lae'zel is the hardest to roleplay. Her personality is so alien in comparison to the ideals of the other characters, given she's literally a space alien warrior with racial superiority that passionately fights against squid monsters. That very gruff exterior would be hard to maintain in a fun group setting like they seem to have. I haven't seen the full playthrough yet, but the clips have been so much fun thusfar

I'm so impressed with Lae'zel's voice actress because her normal speaking voice isn't like her character's at all! You can definitely hear Shadowheart in her voice actress, but Lae'zel? Nothing!
The crazy thing is that Lae'zel's VA isn't changing her voice much, just making it slightly more course. The rest is pacing, intonation and tone. I got chills when she changed, it was like seeing two people in the same body...
You'd need to take 3 levels in the Warlock class, and then choose Pact of the Chain as your Pact Boon (that gives you Find Familiar: Imp). However, doing so with Shadowheart means you'd lose an Ability Score Increase/Feat, and you wouldn't be able to cast 6th level cleric spells
Truly they’ve already nailed the spirit of a DnD party! Dm: “here is this tiny ugly creature, he’s following you, you aren’t really sure why?” Players: “I love him”
Finding a silly lil guy and adopting him into the party is honestly very D&D. (As is him getting gruesomely killed, that's happened almost every time our group took in a silly lil guy)
That would be an epic quest indeed! 😊I'm sure Shadowheart would be inclined to go after him, though the party would probably have a hard time convincing Lae'zel, why they should go after Bing Bong😄@@romxxii
So fun fact about DND that I learned. A party that always says nice things is boring. You need someone to bite the bullet and be a little mean to get the best interactions. If she hadn't said the negative comment then you don't have a funny dialogue response. Don't be afraid to be a bit of a jerk, it gives the others something to work with.
This is the stuff GREAT DMs are made of. Never had a decent campaign myself, but would love to have someone who actually rolls with the party members as opposed to having a story they're determined to tell regardless of party intentions
I just want to book a session with this DM, but let's be real after this he will probably charge like 1k+ 😭 for a campaign...I mean I'd still pay it 👀😶🌫️
They understand their characters incredibly well and it shows. Shadow heart once she’s outed as the nice girl she is, if you romance her and stay with her in the epilogue she’s like “let’s adopt scratch and owlbear permanently.” lol bing bong would absolutely fall within that same group.
If we get a DLC/Expason(/Mod?) in Athkatla/Amn it has to include BingBong. I can totally imagine Mark giving consent to use his lines for such a Mod -> However be nice and ask! Do not use someones voice without consent.
Wonder if there might be a chance to get BingBong in Idle Champions as a familiar. Lae'Zel and Astarion already got added to that game. And they release familiars/sidekicks with characters.
