It’s one of my favorite tongue in cheek things about the game. Constant “curse of the vampyre” books in act 1…no, there’s no way the obscenely pale, red eyed man with pointy teeth is a vampire…definitely just a normal boy lol
To be fair, no common person would assume Astarion is a vampire, simply because he can walk in the sun. This is, to a normal person, by all means, IMPOSSIBLE.
Anjali is brilliant! It's so wonderful when she appears at a table :D I love how she threads that line between being in character, taking the premise seriously, and keeping that "over the table" vibe of "we're grown adults playing make-believe on graph paper, let's be a little silly about it" which imo gives every character she plays a great balance. Such a delight to watch.
Somehow, at a table that includes KARLACH and ASTARION, Anjalie somehow manages to be the hottest character at the table, and Brennan the most buck wild. Amazing group, thank you for posting this for free
I'd never heard of Anjali before, I'm not really a DnD person - but I sure as hell won't be forgetting about her now. How phenomenal and so incredibly charismatic! She's got to have +5 in charisma checks in real life.
1:07:35 Brennan with "...druids running around here, awakening mustelids..." and I had to google it to confirm yup, proper scientific classification name for the family that includes badgers. Now how the hell do you pull some knowledge like that out on the fly in a chaotic setting like this?
This is a man who's life, for being once tormented, is now bent to the work of never again being vulnerable to the ever changing machinations of a certain Sam Reich. Come at this man with a demand to name that bird or this, and he will now tell you species, genus and family order - but also the name its mother lovingly tweeted or squawked into its ear when it first broke free of the egg. Brennan is he who knows the secret name of the All-Bird, but was still not satisfied, and so has journeyed long and late to places high and below, learning the true names of all things, until all things may know him most truly as the Knower of all Names - even those things yet unknown and best left alone and uncalled. Admittedly, he did have to double check his own name this time... But he is very busy.
I mean I also knew the family name is mustelids, I've always loved animals and grew up watching animal planet and researching different species. Ive always gotten big animal lover vibes from Brennan and he also loves learning things so it's probably just from passion and interest 🙂
Y’all are sleeping on Anjali Bhimani. She’s been putting in work in the tabletop space for years now, not to mention the VO/Onscreen stuff, and it’s all killer.

@@hugzpls Sweeping assumptions and generalizations but isn't she of Indian descent her parents may well have learned English with an English accent and that's where she picked it up. Source I can do an English accent even though not English as I have English parents.

Seeing Sam use hellish rebuke as Karlach here even though Karlach is a Zariel tiefling instead of an Asmodeus tiefling makes so much sense roleplay-wise/for her character! It sorta makes me wish she could use it in the game as well given the whole thing with her heart and all that, we don't see her make a whole lot of use of her fiery-ness as a barbarian unless you're using soul coins
I believe they're using the new D&D 2024 rules for this game, and Teifling sub-races were reworked to what's now called legacies. Karlach is of the Infernal legacy and which gives her Hellish Rebuke

@@jessicakrios9382 That is a good point, but it's probably something that needed to be worked out with the DM (in advance) to be more effective. For example, every time he gave them a clue, then the DM could have asked for knowledge checks (Religion, in that case) from the rest of the party.
@@pedrostormrage To be fair, I can also very much see people into pain navigating to Ilmater because 'well if I enjoy their pain and they don't want it it's a win-win' and because outwardly saying you were a cleric of Loviatar would get you looked at funny. Anjali Bhimani is absolutely lovely in this. She’s been acting consistently on film, TV, and voice since 1997 and her presence here is so indicative of that. The other players are acting mostly with their voices, but she’s got EVERYTHING. Really evident of her experience. Loved seeing her in this.
Before the computers came up, they were all talking to each other, playing the game together, going back and forth. actually roleplaying. After the computer's came up, "my turn? i do this and this happens" next players turn. The atmosphere did a 180 when the computers came up, the whole roleplaying factor of dnd went away. They are in the same room, at the same table, having them on the computers doesn't make any sense, specially when it started without being on computers.
sadly because this is a WotC sponsored event they had to push their terrible virtual table top. I'm sure somebody wants it but when I am playing remote games I want my vtt to distract as little as possible from the actual game so I prefer the stripped back offerings like owlbear rodeo, or just drawing a map in MS paint and sharing my screen.
i do think it's hilarious that this is the absolute worst table to showcase Sigil. like, yes, let's take the mainly theatre of the mind DM, and with the table make you constantly be thinking of the graphics in Baldur's Gate 3 or the high production values of Dimension 20. This will definitely make it not look cheap, bugged, laggy, and confusing to new players. Like, as a VTT, it's fine, looks like a decent alternative to the people who play in Tabletop Simulator, but I'm not paying for it. I thought the one bit with the fire breath looked good and the rest was mostly silly. But it's a very poor fit for this oneshot, and in person sessions in general. But hey, at least they all got paid!
I think it was probably meant *for* remote play. So yeah with everyone at the table together, normally you wouldn't need it. This was mainly to show Sigil and the new handbook rules. Both of which still need some work, if not more.
Its nice to see Neil and Sam knocking around together still : ) I have no idea what is going on outside of a bg3 context, but that Ilmator cleric has me already.
Karlach and Astarion weren't picked because Wyll kept yapping about his father, Shadowheart kept reminding Tav about her family and Gale needed that "book" information.

I love Brennan being.002 seconds away from saying his character is Father Milo
May the dawn father shine the path ahead
Little lies are ok
See I was anticipating Citizen Doctor Abraham Merhermblr… somehow he made a character perfectly in between Abraham’s silliness and Milo’s pious antagonism.
I was also expecting Citizen Doctor Abraham Mehermblur…lol…
Time stamp>?
Hearing the voice of Astarion immediately followed by Brennan's elder man voice gives me so much whiplash wtf 😂
Karlach and Astarion: Wow if i had a nickel for every time I got questbaited into someone's bad breakup where one or more partners were a dragon i'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.
Tav and whoever else they brought to the Ansur fight: WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS HAPPENED TWICE????
1:04:07 “I’ve got a couple of dragons in my party, I know exactly what you’re talking about.”
Accidental foreshadowing is the best kind of foreshadowing
AND the two dragons in disguise taking a sip after Atarion mentions Lae'Zel xD
I love how Brennan just blew past that party insight by being an unhinged weirdo.
*S P O I L E R*
Also I love how they were both accidentally foreshadowing that they're both Dragons 🤣
Pounce on the yooooouths
“You in, fangs? 😼”
“Fangs? 😧”
“Everyone knows mate.😑”
“Oh-🤭”
I love how blatantly obvious Astarion's vampirism is and he thinks its a secret. It just makes me laugh so hard.
It’s one of my favorite tongue in cheek things about the game. Constant “curse of the vampyre” books in act 1…no, there’s no way the obscenely pale, red eyed man with pointy teeth is a vampire…definitely just a normal boy lol
@@sonorasgirlthere's also books on Bhaalspawn ^^
To be fair, no common person would assume Astarion is a vampire, simply because he can walk in the sun. This is, to a normal person, by all means, IMPOSSIBLE.
@@andreiriboli But Astarion does it anyway because he doesn't care what a silly human thinks.
Something something bee movie
You could feel the Citizen Doctor Abraham Mehermblur trauma from Aabria the moment Brennan brought out the old man voice.
she left that table faster than Matt during RTA XD
I also got a spike of giddiness at the voice, but realized Abraham is a Roll20 jam. Aabria’s reaction is so valid lol
the way she ran screamed *not again*; you could hear Carlos chanting "second map..." distantly
What campaign is this from?
she was also victim of raphaniel charlock's shenanigans, I think she was entitled to that reaction.
The kobolds being called Rat Cheeks, Pasta, Noodle and roughly cut ham is hilarious.
Don't forget Pumpkin!
Had to have been inspired by Fresh Cut Grass lol
Absolutely best moment was the speech of the Black Dragon.
"CULTIST'S ... OF MEEEE...."
Absolutely killed me. Was close to pee my pants.
It helps that she's gorgeous
"Like a tiger I pounce on them NOT LIKE THAT!"
Somehow, at a table that includes KARLACH and ASTARION, Anjalie somehow manages to be the hottest character at the table, and Brennan the most buck wild. Amazing group, thank you for posting this for free
I can't even write words I want to make sounds like a feral creature. I'm too happy to see 5 of my favourite people in one place playing d&d

I'd never heard of Anjali before, I'm not really a DnD person - but I sure as hell won't be forgetting about her now. How phenomenal and so incredibly charismatic! She's got to have +5 in charisma checks in real life.
+5 at least. She's fantastic in The Ravening War
Oh goodness she's done so many big roles! I know her as Symmetra VA for Overwatch but she's appeared in so many games and movies, her talent is wild.
She absolutely does
Oh, she is fantastic. I have seen her in many TTRPG live plays, and she is always an absolute gem
I believe she also voices a character in Apex Legends
Brennan truly has the forever dm curse, even as a player ends up dming lmao
I doubt he views being a popular storyteller as a curse, lol.
"Why do I feel we're about to derail your adventure?"
"This... isn't even on."
BIG feels on that. Shout out to my players lol
I hear Gilear everytime Brennan speaks in character and I can’t stop it
Noooo, why would you share this, you have cursed me too, I can't unhear it
I was thinking more of Arthur Aguefort than Gilear because of the freaky.

1:07:35 Brennan with "...druids running around here, awakening mustelids..." and I had to google it to confirm yup, proper scientific classification name for the family that includes badgers. Now how the hell do you pull some knowledge like that out on the fly in a chaotic setting like this?
You must be new here to not know about Brennan's mind palace :p
@@lux0rd01 I wonder if what family are badgers in is near the picture book of "what noise a fox make"
Brennan played a Hot Stoat Mom in Burrows End on Dimension 20. They're also mustelids
I am so jealous of this audience. What a cool gencon show.
It was so good!
Not to mention the milk and cookies we had :)
That Kobold persuasion check, I knew Astarion had something of a bard within lmao
the acrane trickster of it all
I often respec him as a bard when I'm playing rogue multiclasses, it makes so much sense for him. His vicious mockery reads are so very HIM
Y’all are sleeping on Anjali Bhimani. She’s been putting in work in the tabletop space for years now, not to mention the VO/Onscreen stuff, and it’s all killer.
I’m literally shitting myself I thought anjali bhimani was really English from her accent. Turns out she’s an American actress and she’s really method that woman’s original accent is from Orange County United States. She’s a fucking American that just fooled me for three hours. What an amazing voice actress.
Welcome to voice actors lmao. English accent is the least impressive thing.

The OBVIOUS stars of this show aside, I also need to join the folks by saying that Anjali ALWAYS brings it and is a beautiful, regal presence in anything and everything she does and she needs FAR more flowers. Otherwise, these fools are feral and i love them all.
Karlach got robbed, Hellish Rebuke is so fun on a barbarian. I bet they just wanted her to be a "Zariel Tiefling" for the angsty Zariel connection.
I believe they're using the new D&D 2024 rules for this game, and Teifling sub-races were reworked to what's now called legacies. Karlach is of the Infernal legacy and which gives her Hellish Rebuke

show of hands who else heard CITIZEN DOCTOR ABRAHAM MEHERMBLUR for a second and didn't know how to feel about that 😅
I am so sad he isn’t but I will learn to love his cleric 😢
I feared for a quick second!
As soon as he brought out the old man voice, that's who I thought it was going to be. Then Aabria reacted and I thought she was going to tell him to get rid of the radish-headed manman.
I was kinda hoping for CITIZEN DOCTOR ABRAHAM MERHERMBLUR pulling shenanigans with Astarion
I thought this was in reference to Evan Kelmp. Lol
"My name is father- *checks notes*" gets me every time 😂 also "Yeees, he diiiiid, NAUGHTY badger!"

@@Hawk7886 As a player, I think I would prefer it to not having a turn at all and being decimated turn 1. As a DM I would feel more comfortable springing ambushes on the players without worrying about absolutely destroying them in what was supposed to be a relatively easy encounter. It seems preferable to me. Maybe we just need to get used to it, the other rule is 10 years ingrained so anything new will probably seem weird at first.
Aabria Iyengar is the type of DM where if you're a player and you see her as your DM you'll immediately feel safe at the table. You know she'd be setting you up for success and would make sure you won't feel judged for your dumb decisions lol. Mad respect for her!

1:27:27 "I don't care about the youth!" The betrayal (even as a player, Brennan's still on the DM side) 😲
Some one like brandon would be aware of the difference too I think he left lying crumbles for people who know.
With how insane his character already was, it'd be easy for the others to go 'welp, he's just being crazy. He cares about the youth, he cares about pain too'

I can see it having potential for remote/online play, but if you have people together at a table it seems a hinderance.
I think it was probably meant *for* remote play. So yeah with everyone at the table together, normally you wouldn't need it. This was mainly to show Sigil and the new handbook rules. Both of which still need some work, if not more.
