a great relief from the 120000 decked out rigs you see everywhere, it only proves simple can get you there as well , well done Neil, you have just made my mind, i was gonna go all out on my toyota tundra 2001, not anymore, again thanks!!
Nice! Very humble individual it's very pleasant to meet people like that, specially for some of us that don't have extravagant budgets. Thanks from 19720
Wife and I always take trash bags with us when we go down to S. Padre beach. It's kinda remote and we always pick up lots of trash. Tons over the years. Wish we could convince everyone to join us. Thanks Neil for what you do!
Hands down my favorite OB rig walk around. "All you really need is a shovel, the rest is luxury". This man is the example for getting outdoors. You don't need all gear and gadgets, keep it simple, get out and enjoy it because it may not be around tomorrow.
This is someone who will be pulling out the latest and greatest Cruisers Patrols etc.. One of my favourite walk arounds. What an absolute legend, he is exactly who you want to hit the trail with. "Not much gear, all the idea as opposed to.. Well, you know the rest"
I had a 1992 4x4 extra cab totally rebuilt with a 1998 Tacoma 4 cylinders engine swapped. 4.7 transfer case. I did most of the work myself, save a ton of money. No LUXURY. It's had take me and bring me back with issues. This guy have it right a low budget rig not luxury. Way it go.
So that particular video sold me on Overland Bound. This community has exploded recently and in my opinion, it's wallet driven. Your efforts to showcase a guy on a limited budget, with the passion for trail and camp clean-up really separates the wallets from the Adventurers. I tried to ask this question during the live feed that was overtaken by mother nature, but I'd like to here how you guys are encouraging the folks that want to participate on a limited budget. I'm versed on a few things being a lifelong scout, mountaineer, ski patrol and traveler buy many have expressed a desire to play. Neil has done this, and we need more of him and his dedication. Outstanding Video.
Wow it's amazing to meet someone who uses his brains, not just his wallet. Some of the prices on gear are well just say if on a fixed budget, just not going to happen. Thanks for the breath of fresh air! Mike
Relay dig this Real Everday Human truck Transformation!! This is what Im working with on our 97 T100 4.4 xcb...plenty of ideas Im gona use from this smart budget build!! Sweet thanks for posting!!
His answer was not to help him self but really to help others ( extra truck parts )... Who is this guy... People should be listening to this guys advice. How to be a " good human being " . Much respect to you.
Love this guy! Realistic, working class build. THIS is how regular people innovate...not everybody can afford the latest...do what you can with what you have!! ✌
Looks like Neil's rig has gone through several iterations and is now a 4runner. My first truck was a 98 tacoma... Brings back some good memories. Great video.
I've gotten so frustrated with what I've seen and picked up in the past. I'm now going to adopt your philosophy, will always simply leave it cleaner. Thank You.
Leave it better than you found it.... Is the only way to go.... I just purchased a 2003 Ford Ranger FX4 level 2 and Starting to build it out. I'm on a tight budget also so lots of trips to the junkyard. You'll be amazed what you can find. Great walk round and interview.
One of my favorite walk arounds. I’ve started to resent some of the things we’ve bought for our 4Runner and thought “why?” What is even crazier is people going in to extreme debt to build rigs. Awesome rig man!
I've watched the original video probably 10 times because of his mindset. I hope in the future we can get another walk around to see any updates he has made.
What a GREAT video!!! This shows that you don't need all the latest and greatest to enjoy the great outdoor. Very inspiring video. Please do continue to make similar videos like this.
I have watched many of your videos along with A few others. I thinking of making a video of build. 1998 Ram 2500 25V Cummins. I love being outdoor and camping. I’m on a very tight budget. I enjoy repurposing stuff. Great video
Nice revisit! Good reminder to everyone that you don't need an "en vogue" power wagon with all the AEV stuff added. Maybe this whole virus thing will force/persuade everyone to reconnect with nature and get out there to explore
I love Overland Bound, they are so much fun to watch. I’ve been taking notes, and they’ve even inspired me to start our own expeditions, living unbound, always exploring, and family forever. I’m pushing past my comfort zone and now my family is on track to expedition the world over the next few years. I’ve even created a UA-cam channel to track our adventures. Our first vlogs are just dropping now. I would love your support and feedback, please subscribe and check it out!
Wow, goes to show you don't' need the most expense rig to duplicate it. Since everything is difficult to buy I wonder how many other "sleeper overlander" projects are going on out there right now. I hope more people post videos of "Macgyver budget builds" to cut costs to save for more trips.
This fella knows what it's about. Enjoying creation one ridgeline at a time. When you turn the corner and think: " This would be a great spot to camp but it looks like the start of a county landfill...😢 Be the person who cleans up after childish adults... aka 'litterbugs'👍 Our 'wild America' is turning into something NO ONE WANTS. Be the example and enjoy the backwoods. Take out MORE than whT you brought in.
Hey Mikey! I liked this video a lot! When this crisis is over and you're open to reviewing a local well equipped rig with a "Long Range America" tank installed. I'd be happy, to have you inspect my rig, for a possible video. Cheers, Mate.
Re- freaking freshing, overlanding has become so pretentious. Its not about color matched bumpers, angry looking headlights (that block light btw) or what wheels you have. I feel like some people hate on OB but atleast he sets the right example with a simple utilitarian vehicle with the primary focus on getting out there.
Thank you very much for the kind words. I look forward to seeing you two again as well, hopefully out on the trails.
Sooner rather than later, Neil!
Surprise! 😂💗
"I like to see what things can be, instead of what they are." I see why everyone likes Neil so much. What a down to earth and kind person.
That quote gets me every time.
Just bought myself an 03 taco. This dude has inspired me to keep it simple, effective and cost friendly. What an awesome DIY build!
If more people had his attitude the world would be a better place. Thanks for introducing him.
a great relief from the 120000 decked out rigs you see everywhere, it only proves simple can get you there as well , well done Neil, you have just made my mind, i was gonna go all out on my toyota tundra 2001, not anymore, again thanks!!
and it boggles the mind how people can be pigs, pardon the jargon, it's a mystery to me why!!
I can see why Corrie really likes him. What a kind man. More than a look at a rig, this was a lesson in humanity. Well done to both OB and Neil.
Henry Cole Stage One of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. 💗
Nice! Very humble individual it's very pleasant to meet people like that, specially for some of us that don't have extravagant budgets. Thanks from 19720

10/10 engineering. So much respect for the diy instead of the buying expensive products

This was the first episode I watched on Overland Bound, and I was hooked.. BTW, someone donate this man some gear! He deserves it! :)
This is why I'm a member . This organization seems to full of this caliber of people .. starting with Corrie and Michael.
This is someone who will be pulling out the latest and greatest Cruisers Patrols etc..

I bet he enjoys himself as much if not more then a lot of people that crave the latest greatest gear.

Love that guy. Simple. Leave it better then ya found it. I like that.
Thanks for showing this wonderful man. Keeping it real and getting out there on a budget with basic, functional gear and a DIY mindset. Inspiring.
By far my most favorite video from y’all
Talk about an inspiring person. This isn't so much a walk around as it is an inspirational video. Way to go Neil.
Just as good, the second time. Thanks for the feel good video.
Love this video, it inspired me so much the first time I saw it. This truck was so cool. Love seeing Neal's progress on his 4 runner now
Loved it when I first saw it a couple of years ago and even more poignant now with what is going on! Great job!
One of my favorite walk arounds. I’ve started to resent some of the things we’ve bought for our 4Runner and thought “why?” What is even crazier is people going in to extreme debt to build rigs. Awesome rig man!
His truck reminds me of mine. Build it the way you can cause in the end its about the adventure.
I've watched the original video probably 10 times because of his mindset. I hope in the future we can get another walk around to see any updates he has made.

The DIY builds are so much cooler than the product builds. It doesn’t have to fancy, it just needs to function.
Love seeing budget builds! He just gained a new follower.

Hey Mikey! I liked this video a lot! When this crisis is over and you're open to reviewing a local well equipped rig with a "Long Range America" tank installed.
I'd be happy, to have you inspect my rig, for a possible video. Cheers, Mate.
Something tells me this guy low key has over a million in the bank but happily chooses to be thrifty, nothing but respect
Thanks guys, keeping it simple! Cheers.
