  • So this year I decided to compete in the Pom with an Edwardian car my 1914 Napier tourer. As always I took my best wingman Richard along.
We drove to the event from Kimbolton Cambridgeshire and all was going well until the first morning test when the clutch started slipping, this made all the morning tests excruciatingly slow but a few adjustments at lunchtime and I could partake in the afternoon high speed trial. High speed was however not something I could manage as the car has the aerodynamics of a brick and with the headwind down the hanger straight at Silverstone it really tested the 110 year old car. At the end of the test on the slowdown lap!! ( Ha I was still flat out) I was awarded with the biggest cheer from the Grandstand which not only could I hear from the car could be heard in the paddock. All in All a very enjoyable day, would I enter again in a slow veteran car……. Probably!
Many thanks to all who helped with special mention to Richard and brother Gerald.

Was there at Silverstone watching last weekend. Great event. Loved the vintage drifting in the greasy conditions

Lovely video. Do you still have the programme? I'm told there is mention of my dad Frank Grounds and his XK120 from the 1952 event.
