    Thanks for a very easy to follow procedure. My 4100 smoked up my shop today as the same bearing seized and burnt up the rubber ring that holds the outer race. You saved me a bit of time I would've spent figuring out the best plan if action. Great work!
    A minor note/tip: When driving a bearing onto a shaft, it's best to apply pressure on the inner race only. Conversely, driving a bearing into a bore should be done with pressure on the outer race only.
    Thanks again!

      I'm glad it helped. I know better than to just beat on a bearing. I don't know what I was thinking. 😅

    Great video. I notice you forgot to mention the rear rubber cup that goes off the end of the bearing in the housing for stability. I was lucky to grab this same unit for $150 from a carpenter down the street from me. He retired and didn't want to bother with it as it sat for over a year. He new it was bearings and my hunch was that too. Sure enough, the rear bearing was shot but the one in front of the armature when spinning by hand had a resonating sound, it could go out in a year or so. Once the armature was out. the front bearing did have signs of being on its way out. I'm replacing both front and rear bearings with new brushes. It should perform nicely after completed.

      Yeah, I found out about that rubber cup after the fact. It's running well now!

      @@TheTrullGallery that’s great. It’s easy to miss. I’m waiting on bearings and a puller. I was able to nab a dewalt compound miter saw dws779 and stand as well. Changing out those bearings as well. Same situation. One Bearing is a bit tight to the fan fins on that armature so need a low profile puller verses the one from harbor freight.

    Great video! I had to replace the same bearing. Just a heads up... That is a VERY common bearing. It is available and stocked at Ace Hardware Stores for around $4.00! Again, great video. Thanks.

    I watched another video on this problem, he disassembled parts on the blade end which is apparently not necessary. Thank you!

    • @vladton5777
      @vladton5777 6 місяців тому

      True - that's not necessary IF you know for sure that the rear ball bearing is a problem. But it could be another (front) ball bearing or the gears. Then, you have to dig in through whole machine and, as such, the other video is more informative.

    I have the same saw and have not had any issues....yet. But you've shown me what to watch/listen for and how to fix it. Still hoping you'll figure out a way to install a small infeed table somehow 🙂.

      My saw is three years old, with LOTS of hours on it. Aparently, this is a fairly common failure point. Keep an eye on it.

    Hello my name is Richard, and I am interested in buying the Bosch table saw. Could you please tell me what you think about your Bosch saw, like is it worth buying, and how long have you had yours, and were you satisfied with it overall. The plastic gears are causing me concern, but your main bearing went out. People are saying how disappointed they are with these plastic parts. Did you like the way your saw performed? It looks like you used it plenty, so I value your opinion. I was all set on the Bosch over the Dewalt and the Skilsaw, but I started hearing horror stories about the plastic gears. I appreciate that you showed the underneath view of the bottom of the saw. So please can you share with me your opinion about this Bosch saw. I really want to love this saw but I’m apprehensive about the purchase. This saw seems to fit my needs, being smaller out of the three. This saw would be at our summer home and not used everyday, so I’m hoping that this saw would stand up to my workload, it wouldn’t be at a job site being used day in day out. Well your Bosch looks like you got to know it pretty well, so I’m interested in your opinion. Please could you comment on the pros and cons of what you’ve experienced with this saw, because I would greatly appreciate you view? Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you respond. Richard

      Hey Richard! I've had this saw for over four years, and I treat it like my old cabinet saw. I think the bearing issue was from tuning an extension cord too long (I've remedied that). It's getting a bit tired, but I use it a lot! I miss my Unisaw, but I'd buy this one again.

    I don't recall you mentioning changing the rubber gasket that goes over the bearing. After looking at the parts manual I noticed there is a rubber gasket that goes over the bearing. Mine was shredded when I took the motor apart to change the bearing. I don't know for sure but I speculate because the motor housing is plastic and a worn bearing would destroy a plastic housing, I wonder if the purpose of the rubber gasket is to melt under heat and stall the motor so more damage isn't created. It's less than a $3.00 part.

    How they can put put an unsealed bearing on a table saw.

    • @TheTrullGallery
      @TheTrullGallery  Рік тому

      I think It was sealed... until it failed. The replacement was sealed, and there were remnants of the old seals in the motor housing.
