  • Its name chimes perfectly with its shape and size - “pulcina” means “little chick” in Italian. The spout resembles a little baby bird’s beak, and the interior is plump and bulbous, designed with a special heater to reduce the final “eruption” brewing phase, when coffee can surge out of the pot and its taste can be affected.
Renowned Italian designer Michele De Lucchi created the Pulcina in his private studio, which was once a chicken coop, so its name is doubly appropriate.
Alessi’s collaboration with talented external designers is an important part of its longstanding policy which centres on design innovation and excellence. The company’s very positive IP management and use of the RCD system was also highlighted by the jury.
Alessi is not just a design-intensive company; it has design embedded in its very DNA. Its roots stretch back to 1921, when it was created as workshop for the processing of brass and nickel silver sheet metal, with foundry by Giovanni Alessi, and since then, it has established itself as a world leader in design.
