Yoga Therapy for Tendonitis & Wrist Pain

  • Part 2: The Wrists and Manibandha Marma
    The hands are built to move but also need to provide stability. This video can be used by musicians to increase tactile function, as yoga warm up, rehabilitation for wrist surgery, or to prepare for any job or hobby (gardening fatigue got me here!) that requires weight bearing or dexterity in the hands. This simple practice is done seated in a chair (so good if you work at a desk) or on the ground. We will explore several different wrist movements to increase awareness and mobility; then stimulate Manibandha Marma point with self massage. You may find that some movements are more beneficial for you than others and can create your own practice around that. If you have wrist tendonitis, or any other hand or wrist pain, this class may help you to relieve pain and increase function.
    Part 1 is a practice that focuses on the fingers and hands, so for really happy hands, check that out too!
    Somatic Yoga Live Stream classes are offered Mondays and Wednesdays.
    You can join live at 8 am CST with time for questions and comments in the chat or catch the edited video recording (no chat - just the practice) later in the day. Practices with be 30-45 minutes plus optional community discussion after. Rituals develop with a combination of persistence, curiosity, acceptance,amazement and joy - that is what body prayer practices are all about. Start your day in moving meditation!
