Don't know if you'll get this because it is almost a year old video, but to rehydrate easier try putting your ham at the top of the jar. When you're ready to prepare pour ham in a bowl and add your water. Let it rehydrate for a while until it is ready. Then add your eggs and grits and rehydrate. That way you get your ingredients rehydrate properly. Plus you have room to stir.
This looks so good. I love grits.

Thanks for this video. I'm planning some freeze dry breakfasts for MRE's. ...... Your comment on the Mylar bags not being reusable, they definitely ARE reusable. Wash them and they are ready to go.

New sub, love your channel! Ball makes a 12oz jar, same size lid as the one you used in this video. This would give you more space to stir, add water etc. A used 22oz Classico jar with lid could also be used...although the jar size is a bit overkill for this project. The jar fits standard canning jar lids and is free once you use the spaghetti size. In these times of jar shortages and reuse they come in handy for projects.

I like the jar idea and would throw it into a bowl after reconstituting.

Perhaps, for the grits breakfast, minced ham? .... Trial & error ... That's what it takes.

Love that you don’t use background music when you are talking like many UA-cam videos do but I wonder if you’ve thought about shutting off the tv or whatever it is in the background. It would be easier to hear you. Other than that distraction, love your videos!

WOW! Nothing tastes better than a homemade breakfast you "heat and eat." Wish me luck! This will be my first time making grits.

Great Cooking John! :) That induction cook top seems to work great on camera. Would that work OK for everyday use?
I still like the jar concept for pasta dishes for sure. I've never mixed my grits with much else except cheese and/or onion. So I'd go with two bags like your MRE style. I've got a video just starting.

I am in love with my induction cooker, it heats up so fast and could easily be used every day. It is an understatement to say how much I enjoyed the "Country Breakfast" I have to admit I got the idea from Waffle House, Their Country breakfast is the same except they include toast.

Just a warning! DON'T use that metal spatula on the Copper Chef style cookware... it WILL flake off into your food! And your cookware is ruined. I found out the hard way, and the pan lost it's non-stick and it was just the bare aluminum. Plastic spatulas only!

Thanks, i use 7 mil bags for anything i will add hot water to. They are so tough it is hart to intentionally poke a hole in them, LOL
