Fluid dynamics strikes again. I have had to learn so much about how water flows. There really is a lot of science in fishkeeping...

I need to do an update on my air system because it was the same results

Any suggestions on keeping the trays clean over a few weeks of having fry in them w/ feedings ?

Baby plecos help. From there, use a pipette and air line tubing to make a small gravel vac. I have that video of how to make one on the channel.

Sweet setup! Do the baskets float? Or hang on the trim?

The trays have a lip that rests on the front trim and on the back there are stainless steel screws holding them on the trim

What do you prefer the larger or smaller tubs?

    • @WeldonTanks

I prefer the larger size. Easier for me to see the fish and clean them

@@WeldonTanks @Jadren Aquatics Thanks for the reply! I am thinking about building one of these. How many fry can fit in one tub?
      Thank you!

That depends on species and length of time kept in tub. At one point I had over 100 Mouthbrooder fry in one tub for a bit. I have had over 100 pleco fry in one before. Currently I have 50 Mouthbrooder fry that are ready to move out of one. I use this system to get the fry started. Smaller area it is easier to feed them

Did you have issues with fry survival before this change? Id be interested to see how your more consistent water flow improves fry survival rates

I never lost an entire batch of fry but I was losing individual fry on a consistent basis before this change.

Everything has worked perfectly. Valves have not leaked and I have had Better consistent flow through the system

    WELL DONE Sir👍👍👍👍👍
Appreciated the upgrade on fry system. I myself am thinking of doing such a system and was thinking it was expensive to setup. Glad to see it's not what i initially thought in cost. I've a few additional questions
    1. what's the max pump gph you recommend for the 1/2" pvc?
    2. Do you end cap or have a valve to control or allow excess water to return to tank?
    3. What's size (water volume) of tank and dimensions? Do you recommend using 36x 12 x12 inches or 36x18x18 inches tank
4.What filtration system you have for main tank
    5. How often water change do you replace or vacuum the main water storage area?
    6. What sponge are you using for the trays to prevent fry escaping
    7. How many times daily do you feed in the trays and do you recommend feeding vinegar eels and microworms in it or will they escape in main tank.
    8. Do you have any live plants or animals in the main water storage?
    Thank you in advance.

There is an end cap on the end of the pvc pipe run, need the water to run down through the valves. No idea on max gph but I would not go over 300 gph because you do not need much flow through the trays. I am using a regular 20 gallon long you can adapt this to whatever tank you want. I have a sicce shark filter in the main tank. I have auto water change. Small coarse intake sponge from aquarium co op. no live plants. feeding 1-2 times, only live food I do is baby brine.
