I love all your videos, Lucas and especially the build videos of the new fish house. Always nice to see Lady LRB as well! I really, really appreciate you showing more in the plumbing system here -- very helpful and inspirational as I consider my next fishroom stage!!!
For overflows on plastic containers, I go to my local hydroponics store and pick up 3/4” rubber grommets and 3/4 ribbed insert elbows. I drill a 1” hole into the container, slip the grommet in, then slide the elbow in. This expands the grommet enough to seal the hole. Less than $2/ overflow and then I cut a piece of course filter sponge and slip into the inside opening of the elbow to prevent fry from going through the system and a piece of clear hose to go from the container to the drain system.
Mind if i see the a photo of what your talking about? im interested in building something like that and for the life of me, i cannot find these clear overflow tanks he uses :/
Use bracing boards front to back that you use those squeeze clamps to hold in place, then put the 2x12 sitting on that to then screw and attach it how you want. ie make your own extra set of hands out of clamps and extra blocks of wood to help hold up the shelves. It should make it much easier to do.
And if the two sides start to spread out too far to hold the board across between them, you could also clamp the board vertically on one side to the bracing blocks...that would hold it solid in both directions and you have all the time you need to adjust it and screw it together.
this is so cool. you do super cool shit me. i bought some of your strain of red cherry shrimp from adam at petsmart, and ended up culling my entire previous colony.
Nice build and really good video! Thank you! Very helpful. What are these containers and where did you get them? How was a system working since you build it? Any issues? Are these black small valve are holding the pressure form pump? Are they easy to adjust the flow to each small container?
The containers are really hard to find now and kind of expensive. I still have some I’m sitting on which I could sell but they are $20 each. The system works great and the valves I got from Jehmco and are great for dialing in from drop to drain and hold up real well.
@@LRBaquatics im in the uk. Apparently these came from italy to the uk. They have been in a lock up for many years. They loads of very expensive equipment for labs plus the danio stuff. They had ten racks. People have already removed the taps from them think they have one complete rack left. I got 240 of the 4.5 cm containers. They probably have 200 of the smaller containers left. Plus about 20 larger ones. I may go back again 😉. The baffles are good. Some are blue some yellow with different perforations.
They are from a danio cancer research facility. Aquatic Habitats made them but they are not in business anymore unfortunately. I’m still sitting on some of them but they aren’t cheap.
Hence 75g tank--It’s like you plan things out and stuff. 😂 I really like how you show errors and the fixes. Also the Coral blue platies available on the website question to us led me to wonder about the balance between “all the tanks we see” and what’s available for sale on your website. Have you done a video explaining that? To my non-professional, non-experienced eye, it seems like you would have tons more fish production…just curious. Love your work
I haven’t but should make a video on that. Having to build the whole thing the last year and a half I can focus on getting more stock to grow out but the key word is grow out which takes a lot of time and tanks. Also to keep my stock up on things year round is very difficult when just living on the crumbs of the babies that just occur. Many fish come and go and I try not to litter the website with a bunch of out of stocks.
@@LRBaquatics when you get to it, I’d love to watch the “this is the big fish picture”video. Will be ordering a few endlers and corys soon. Depending on Fridays in stock list.
How would you use this design for a large regular tank, instead of all the small tanks? What could be used as as an overflow from the 1 large tank down to the sump? I have been looking at hang on back overflow boxes, but it appears that they loose their siphons regularly.
Drilling bulkheads in your tank is probably the most secure approach for flow consistency. Hang on the back over flows do have potential to lose siphon or clog.
I showed the info that I had towards the end of the video. I know in Europe I believe Pentair makes something similar. They are from danio research centers.
Thanks! This is what I do as a living. Its a lifestyle at this point. I went to school and graduated for Design then decided I didnt want to work in an office so I started to work in construction. Then eventually I balanced construction and fish to fish full time.
The info I shared in video is where I got mine but people have trouble finding. They are containers for danio research that google may lead you to more info.
I mentioned in the video but they are from danio cancer research facilities. Aquatichabitats makes them. Pentair does too and maybe a couple other places. They can be hard to find like a needle in a haystack.
I have some I’m sitting in and have thought about selling but they are so rare I hesitate. They won’t be cheap. If you are interested send me an email.
I mentioned in the video. That’s my only info to them they are breeding containers for danio research. You may find more on google with the right searches…

Hey Lucas will the two-by-fours and screw's method work for a 125 gallon aquarium?, I'm going to make an hour trip, does Imperial Tropic's have quality fish in your opinion?
I’ve never been there but seems like they have stepped up their game and have a lot to gander at! I have used that method with 125s. There may be a build for a double 125 rack that also held 2 40s on top. If you search UA-cam through LRB rack builds
LOOKING GOOD :) I ENJOYED WATCHING THE BILD PROJECT AS I ENJOYED WATCHING OTHERS YOU DI:D ABOUT THE CORAL BLUE PLATIS I WANT THEM BUT I CAN'T HAVE THEM ( NO SHIPPING TO ISRAEL ) . THANK YOU FOR SHARING :) THANK YOUFROMM ISRAEL :)
With these pumps they are made for that sort of thing. I have tested them heavily in ponds and muck. But not a bad idea if your worried about it, personally I’m not worried about it.
I would pay just to get this as a tiny diy booklet. All parts need and how many, step by step guide etc. my adhd head need like a ikea ensemble guide. Please do it 😊

Those tanks on the rack is awesome!
You can remove the ink/writing on the pvc pipes with a quick wipe of lacquer thinner. It will also remove most of the purple pipe cleaner drip marks
Great tip!
And more, and more to come. Love it keep up the good work.❤
“Here’s my relief valve… Oh fudge, I forgot to put the valve on!” 😂😂😂

Great video. Definitely given me ideas to do this myself. Handy as just acquired 240 of the same containers. Mine have lids and rear baffles.
O wow! Nice acquirement those are not easy to come by. Do you mind me asking on how you got them?

Love these videos! I'm still pretty tied to using filters but want to try a few filter less tanks in the near future. Plus I love the fry rack!

25:17 How do you keep the sand and fry out of the pump intake?
The sand stays on the bottom. I will put the plug in for half a second to scare anyone out of it if there is any. Usually not.
Where can u buy those baskets and how are they called?
Great system!
With love from the netherlands🙏
I showed the info that I had towards the end of the video. I know in Europe I believe Pentair makes something similar. They are from danio research centers.
I was wondering if you had a link to those containers thanks in advance...

So cool! Wish I had the room for one of those racks. I'm working on a similar thing but only for 4 shrimp tanks 😅
20:17 How many pairs of scissors has your family bought since you moved? ✂
We still have the ones from the old house. Everything has a place for the most part so things dont get lost.

Can you grow daphnia in the green water inside the level vials?
You could it could be a mega daphnia rack!
Fantastic 👍
Looking good!
So I gotta ask... How did you obtain those Aquatic Habitat containers? Did you email them and ask to buy them in bulk?
I got lucky and they gave me a lead to a university that was trying to offload all theirs.

How do you get the containers I have been looking everywhere for them
The info I shared in video is where I got mine but people have trouble finding. They are containers for danio research that google may lead you to more info.
They are made by a company that seem to only sell to universities. Most counties have unis where they study zebra danios in recirculating systems.
What are the containers you use for fry
