How To Change Battery - Kidde Smoke And Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Why Does Alarm Keep Beeping?)

  • There's nothing more annoying than an a smoke & carbon monoxide alarm that won't stop beeping. Around 3AM, the beeping started and began to interfere with my sleep. Not yet fully awake, I attempted to reach the battery compartment by turning the Kidde Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm clockwise, when in fact that was the wrong method.

    Thank you so much for this!! I was having trouble finding a video for this exact design because I wasn’t sure if I had the right idea about removing the battery. Turns out all I needed was the will power.

      Also - mine is a different model so it didnt tell me to reset but I did hold and push and push the test button anyways (very loud) - however when I stare at it to watch the green / yellow light, it still blink red from time to time (I have read that it’s normal and an indication it’s working - if anyone please confirm this?)
      And another rookie question... I have read somewhere that there are some non replaceable batteries for smoke alarm... Im thinking the non replaceable one would be very obvious?

    Sorry but you "yadda yadda'd" over the most important part. How do you pull down that little plastic bracket that holds the battery in without breaking it?

    • @JonathanBrowneMenzies
      @JonathanBrowneMenzies  2 роки тому +3

      Hey Robert, you're right, that's the most difficult part of the entire process. I needed two hands, so I wasn't able to record it. Use the pointer finger of one hand to hold that plastic tab down, and at the same time, slide the battery out with your other hand. I was also nervous about breaking the plastic tab. Not the greatest design, I'm just hoping the plastic doesn't become brittle in time and snap off. Good luck and thanks for watching!
