I have a Sony ZVE10 as my daily Content Creator/Photography/Video camera. I'm going to pick up the XS20 since I'm getting serious about portraits & photography in general.
I think the XM-5 will be a flop. I think it’s joining a market segment that it can’t compete with. A6700, ZVE10ii, X-S20 are all better options in my opinion. The A6600 might even be a better option. The video formats might not be as robust but better battery and Fuji AF isn’t exactly great. If they can’t even get the AF correct on their flagship cameras I highly doubt that the X-M5 will be any different. The only people who are gonna get this camera are people who want to be quirky and different. Aka Fuji Fans (I shoot on an XH2S and XT2)
So, I was interested in the Fujifilm XM-5 as my first camera, and I saw that you mentioned the Sony A6700 as a better alternative. But then I looked at the price, and I don’t understand your reasoning. These two are not in the same price range at all. Here in France, the Fujifilm XM-5 is €999, while the Sony A6700 is more like €1500-1600. So I don’t really see the comparison. If they were the same price, I could understand, but that’s clearly not the case here.
@ just get the zve10ii for the Sony option. I just added a6700 as alt to xs20. If you want the XM5 with better af, more lens options, and better battery
@@smolomsYes, but unfortunately, the Sony ZV-E10 II doesn’t have a mechanical shutter, only an electronic one, which is a bit disappointing for rolling shutter issues. I won’t lie; the reason I got interested in the XM-5 is mainly because of the price. However, if I can get something better for almost the same price, I wouldn’t hesitate since I’m not attached to any brand-except for Sony Alpha. I even considered getting a used Sony A6000, but I’m afraid it might be a bit too outdated, especially for video. That said, I’ll be doing 90% photography.
@@smoloms So what do you think of the Sony A6000? I know it's 10 years old, but for 300 euros... and the autofocus isn't that bad. Otherwise, the A6400 also catches my eye second-hand.
Good choice. I had the X-S10 too and the X-S20 is miles better in every respect. I am not a heavy user as you, but...for me, never had AF issues with the X-S20 (I suspect that the AF problem is much worse in the 40mp bodies). In fact, it is miles better than the X-S10 AF - with the X-S10 eye AF only worked with the subject close, and with the X-S20 (and yes, I have the latest firmware) I got the eyes locked in concert shooting even when I almost can't see the singers face. But yes, I know that the issues are real - your tests with the X-T5 was maybe the best showing (the AF box locked on the eye byt the focus was on some branches in the scenery). Try to repeat them with the X-S20, could be interesting. Even the new touch tracking in video is working well (albeit not flawless) - but, again, in my use cases. For other, could be problematic. My Fuji gripes in the moment is the IBIS (still too "jumpy" in video mode, for stills is perfect) and that Fuji now is almost the ONLY manufacturer that makes difficult to use film recipes everywhere - we still have to resort to C positions and all the "programming", when Sony / Panasonic / Nikon users just store their custom profiles and use it like a normal film simulation. THIS last is almost making me switch.
I'm not a fan of IBIS for video because it does weird jiggly things sometimes, but other than that, the X-S20 fucks! I love it! Wish it had weather sealing, but whatever. I'll just take an umbrella with me in the super rare times I shoot in the rain! For me, it's a great upgrade from the X-T3! Especially with all the new film simulations! Defiantly worth all the blood I sold to get it!!!

love my X-s20! can't beat the ergonomics of that grip. the only reason I would sell my x-s20 is if Fujifilm puts 40 megapixels in a x-s30
its the best!
I once tried the X-M1 for Street, but ended up selling it. I hated only have an LCD display. I too want a camera to have a EVF.
I have the X-S20 and have ordered an X-M5 BECAUSE it is so much like it but small and lighter so I can take It out when I don't need the bigger X-S20.
let me know how that works for you!
for me , no ibis ... it's out of the question ... we are in 2024 ... make a smaller ibis fuji ... innovate!
right? ahah
I think it’s time to upgrade my xt3
@@patriotsfan696 hahaa nah the xt3 is still good!
Well, it's better and has more features. Not surprising you chose it.
exactky!
XS20 gang!!!!!!
@@helloimjimbo gang gang 🤘
I wish my X-S10 had the newer processor
I have xs20, love it, and still going to buy xm5 😂
haha sall good let me know how that works for oyu
Tried the m5 yesterday, it is front geavy even with the fujicrons.
@@mihailmihov1882 oh wow that’s very tiny then
I just can’t accept the XM5 when Fuji killed of the XE4, it had an EVF and an XF lens
right? haha
I have a Sony ZVE10 as my daily Content Creator/Photography/Video camera. I'm going to pick up the XS20 since I'm getting serious about portraits & photography in general.
LETS GO!
Aka Fuji Fans
(I shoot on an XH2S and XT2)
For me I wouldn’t use a camera that doesn’t have an evf for photography. I feel like xm5 and zve10 for me would only ever be for little videos
X-M5 is for casual vloggers or tiktokers that can't shell out money for a used X100VI
Defiantly worth all the blood I sold to get it!!!
bro forgot the xs20 cost a lot more lmao while the xm50 is targeted to more of a budget camera
@@mugen7600 sit this one out little bro. You didn’t watch the entire video. 🤙
@ i did watched your whole video and yeah its your opinion but most people would still go for the xm5 cus its cheaper and less bulkier than the xs20
