For those wondering, modding stock mufflers is the way to go. Non scientific experiments have shown it’s louder than a corsa sport at idle and quieter at WOT. I’m super happy with mine.
Since I've done this procedure I feel I must respond. This is the quick way to do the mod. I completely open muffler, the covering of the perforated section is 100% welded. Now this is where my mod differs. The two solid pass through pipes I remove and replace with perforated sections and I as well reinstall the glass packing. The result is very quiet when needed and with a flip of the switch it sounds amazing, like an LS should. My unsolicited $0.02.
I have a 2010 ZR1 stainless works intake headers, no cats, ATI 14% pulley and tune. I am not familiar with the exhaust it had when I got it. It looks like 2 chrome resonator cherry bomb style mufflers and they custom welded the baffles NPP to straight pipe section. So it does have NPP valves just no muffler per day. Any ways I blew the cats at the track and that’s why I just went with headers and no cats. I use to enjoy the sound of stock headers cats and those cherry bomb mufflers but now it’s just too dam loud and sounds cheap and drones like a mug. I want help finding the right axle back for me. Any tips on what I should get? Granted you have had experience. I sure would appreciate input. Thanks
I still don't understand how you guys prop up that AC condenser like that. The bottom line is a hardline all the way to the firewall is it not? Just bend it temporarily?
@Jim Lahey Yes I did but I figured once you weld the first seam it would expand enough to grab it with some channel locks and twist it around to get to the other seam. Don't know just giving my opinion.
Danny Carwile Wouldn’t welding that seem also join it to the inner perforated portion, which would prevent you from being able to rotate it I bet it does
i bought a 2010 ZR1 with cherry bomb style mufflers already installed on it. It sounded good with stock headers and cats but after installing long tube headers and deleting the cats it is just too dam loud! Like seriously loud! What is your guys opinion on me installing Z06 mufflers but without the MOD? i ask this because if my goal is to silence the car wouldn't i want the perforated muffler tube? let me know what you all think i want to fix this asap. Thanks
Did this on my 5th gen camaro ended up doing it with a band clamp but when I go to close the mufflers it sounds too quiet, the flap is closed and not letting anything out. Anyone have a suggestion on what to do or just make a little hole to let it breathe to let it out the other tip ?
I feel like for the labor to hack up and customize the stock mufflers you could’ve just purchased an axel back and bolted it on 🤔 oh I see to retain the ability to make it quiet or loud got it.
I don't see the point with this muffler mod. If you want just a bit louder just buy the quietest axleback. Just my opinion Don't they make exhaust that still keep the flap?
Hmmmm. Pull off my mufflers, cut them open, pull out the insulation, place pipes around the perforated pipes to seal them off, put insulation back in mufflers, re-weld the mufflers closed, paint to prevent rust and re-install the mufflers. That seems like waaaaaay too many steps. How about order better mufflers, pull off old mufflers, put on new mufflers. We're lazy down here in the Florida heat. ;-)
@@ugrttviper1564 Unless you can cut, weld and do all that by yourself there's not that much of a price difference. Most muffler shops are going to charge you at least $200 (here in Florida). As far as the quietness, Borla offers the S-Type which is much better flowing without much more sound and Corsa offers a setup with the NPP system so you retain your ability to "shut it down" if you want to. Regardless, I was joking a bit but I much prefer a full aftermarket system to modifying the stock mufflers. Stay safe. Cheers.
King Brutus XXVI I prefer aftermarket too, but there’s a HUGE price difference between this and a switchable aftermarket exhaust! This is definitely a better bang for the buck.
@@axetogrindproductions4153 Who said anything about axle-back? There are several brands that sell mufflers for under $200 (a piece) some of them under $150. Now, if you go Borla, Magnaflow, Corsa, etc. of course they will cost more.
Why do the muffler mod as opposed to just getting a catback? Seems like a lot of work and expense when you could just get a catback. Is there some advantage to this?
I've watched several of the corvette/gm channels on UA-cam. The other channels with the exception of one shouldn't do videos of the shop area's. The shop is where your pride and joy is being torn apart and rebuilt. Corvette guys are a peticular group. I'm 2000 miles from RPM, and in the market for a corvette. The distance is a concern, but RPM lessons this. 1. Reputation 2. Experienced employees 3. A well equipped CLEAN shop
U know u guys should just come out with a muffler delete kit because that muffler is useless after that what is it actually doing? Nothing its meant to slow down the exhaust fumes and also quite it down. Just my opinion still function but doesn't do anything for the actual exhaust fumes and makes it louder.

I like the in-depth topics. Its a great way to showcase the excellent work you do.
That muffler mod sounds awesome!
Agreed! such a sweet sound
Yes finally! I agree with fran corsa got smart about that lol
Love the muffler mod and the B3 cam combo!!!
glad to see some videos show more in depth into stuff. now just need to see one on rear end drop for clutch removal.
Use 3" band clamps to cover inside pipe... no welding required inside mufflers..much easier
The band clamps are the better route in my opinion 👍
How many? 2 on each side or just one?
@@NegativoZ06 pretty sure 2 per muffler. Been some years since I did it.
@@defaultuser48 thanks
Love the channel👍🏼
Awesome video today guys from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Dam that Z sounds soooo good lol
Where can you buy those 3d printed holders for the m2w switch?
Hit me up on IG @just_a_c6z and I’ll put you in contact with the guy I bought it from.
Finally a video on the steps
Looks like the city of Banshee Ville is growing in population!
Great stuff love the channel videos keep up the great work!
Sounds way better. Nice job Guy's
Nice how to on the mufflers.
Thanks
Man that sounded so nice 👌
I use ZRC zinc paint. Silver in color, and last year's longer

The 2011 and up mufflers come from the factory designed this way already right?
Love the 250r, wish I would have never sold mine. BVC trikes makes conversion kits from a dirt bike to a 3 wheeler. They’re fucking sick.
Darn that sounds gooooood
Steve Friday's video needs to be longer because we have to wait till Wednesday for next video
avg watch minutes is 12-14 regardless, plus Eric was out all week so didn't have the normal content we usually do.
Dam, 12-14 minutes... I watch the full episode every single time and can’t wait for the next one.
WE OUT HERE.
That sounds great.

What's the CR and fuel octane? That's massive RWHP for pump gas.

Weld the seam then rotate to weld the other side before welding to inside pipe.

Or just use some band clamps!
I have a 2011 v longtubes, catless 3” back to stock muffler what’s some mufflers that are quiet so I can get rid of the bigass stock one lmao
Muffler mod sounds really good at wot but I slightly prefer stock mufflers at idle.
How much droning do you get with muffler mod?
is fran starting a banshee collection or what ?
Do you reuse the arp studs or bolts or do they get new every time off
ARP you can reuse, stock GM gets new every time
Pros an cons on muffler delete?

If you plate over the perforations, wouldn't that be the same as a muffler delete?
Someone please explain for my knowledge.
But then you will lose the quiet mode.
Can I do this muffler mod on my 19 Camaro SS 1LE?!?! Sounds way better
program the mild 2wild to the homelink in the visor.

Sam Keck hmm with that being said then my original point remains just get an axle back
@@HemivsNinja I agree
$1000+ for an axleback vs a few hundred bucks in labor for muffler mod.
@@MrScully5525 I say worth it, but thats just me really.
I love it my guys rpm keep up the work and I love the video c6 z06 lot 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

250r's ftmfw.. I do want a banshee tho!
C6 Zr1 or C7 Z06?
Lol... Step away from the keyboard on banshee sales Fran.... 🤘
What would a muffler shop charge to do this?
Because clearly all the muffler shops reside in the comments and not on google.
I need to do that to my muffler😁
Watching him wear gloves on a wire wheel and band saw is nerve racking.
Why not just use an exhaust clamp around the pipe . Save a lot of time .then its actually fully sealed.

Seems like a lot of work when you can put some Corsa extremes on it
Then it will be loud all the time....hence us doing this
