Most people don't realize that Puerto Rico is HEAVILY influenced by New Yoricans ( people born in Puerto Rico , raised in New York City ). Between the 1960-2005 Nyc largest Latino population was Puerto Rican. Salsa was born in Nyc ( debatable ) in the 1970s when Puerto Ricans mixed Puerto Rican, Cuban , Black American Jazz & other genres together to create Salsa ( Fania Allstars ) . The Jamaican population in Nyc also blessed Nyc with Reggae/Dancehall & was huge in Nyc in the 1990s when New Yoricans started to influence the island of PR with Jamaican Reggae , thus creating Reggaeton , obviously Nyc Hip Hop was also an influence .I'm quite aware all this is debatable however as a native born Puerto Rican raised in Nyc who also had a home on the island , going back & forth I saw first hand the influences going back and forth. Puerto Ricans have dominated Latin music for decades with Salsa , Latin Jazz , Freestyle music , Reggaeton , Latin house & it's all because of the Nyc influence , including the constant American tourism that passes thru this American territory. Say what you want about Puerto Ricans ( or hate ) however I've been to many countries & continents & that little island has blessed the world with music in places where people don't even speak Spanish.
Pin point accuracy, TELL EM! My only only issue is that no one ever talks about Philly. Second largest Boricua population in the main land. New York gets all the love pero coño we here too 😂
U know why ? Cause Philly Ricans have no unity , they show more loyalty to Moreno's , it's a fact Philly Ricans are scared of the blacks u guys are an embarrassment , second biggest Rican population on the mainland and blacks run y'all city , embarrassing
I'm only 22 minutes into the video and a smile won't stop showing on my face. Thanks for visiting our island and showing the world what we are about! Respect and lots of love for the people. Puñeta!
I’m from Texas, white & married to a Mexican. We vacationed in Puerto Rico twice, then my 2 daughters (22, 23yrs old) moved there outta the blue cause they loved it so much! I miss them so much. Visited them in Feb, & going back next week. Everybody who’s never been thinks PR is dangerous, but it really isn’t. I’ve always had a great time there! I love Puerto Rico!!🇵🇷 only thing they could use is some spicy food in their life! Mexicans are all about the jalapeños. Miss it when we are there
Lmao glad you like it but yeah PRs don't eat spicy food, most of latin America I would say doesn't. It's a Mexican thing. PRs at most add their own hot sauce to things but Mexicans don't even consider that hot sauce spicy lol
@flowmodejojo4460 I'm Prican as well and love spicy food but in GENERAL Puerto Ricans dont eat spicy as much as Mexicans, that's just a fact. We also don't cook with spice, like Mexicans do. And the Hot sauce that we make in PR isn't even spicy to Mexicans or other ppl from countries that eat lots of spicy food.
It's important to state that he was blessed with a cool uber driver who just happened to not be a hater, in music and have good connections. That made this video a super success. (My opinion as a rican who lived over 15 years in PR)

White guy from the states here married to my Puerto Rican wife and her family, lol. We just got back from PR two 2weeks ago, my first time there, and by far, my favorite place to be. Loved the environment from Old San Juan to Orocovis, Carolina, to Aguadilla, Arecibo, and many others. Never felt more at home even though her family was born and raised there, and mine wasn't, but the experience alone is one I'll never forget. I want to move there and didn't want to leave, ha. Beautiful place to be born and raised in and I don't know what gringos you are used to but I'd be right up in that party with the family. Absolutely, loved it there.

I was in San Juan in January. La Perla and Santurce have bad reputations on some tourist blogs, but I never once felt unsafe as a white mainlander who doesn’t speak Spanish. Everyone in Puerto Rico was the most welcoming, friendly and respectful people I’ve ever met. The best food I had was in Santurce not far from Llorens Torres. I wish Puerto Rico could get more tax funding from the US Govt because it is such a beautiful place that has so much potential. It’s just been underfunded, and the end of the sugar industry and lack of investment in the country’s roads, electrical system and other infrastructure have led to so many Puerto Ricans feeling like they had to leave the country to make a better life for themselves even though they would rather stay in Puerto Rico. It makes me so sad that the population is expected to continue contracting over the next 50 years.

In 2020 I was gettin into quick weekend getaways and me and my gf was like let’s do Puerto Rico, we arrived rented a car and as on most vacations I was looking for some “plants”. Everyone kept saying La Perla but no one was saying where or what it was. My Spanish wasn’t good at that time so I thought it was a store, maybe a destination. Didn’t realize it was a neighborhood.
Yeah but the truth is people from ny act ghetto compared to people from the island.
@@Janthonyy86 Lol, there's always that one guy. Smh

I love it that you always speak from the heart. That makes you a good entertainer. Keep up the wonderful work.
I've been waiting for this one for so long 😌 Reggaeton por siempre! 🔥
Miss it when we are there
Yeah we like different spices. I'm NYRican, I don't visit often enough, but the Island will always have a special place in my heart.
Lmao glad you like it but yeah PRs don't eat spicy food, most of latin America I would say doesn't. It's a Mexican thing. PRs at most add their own hot sauce to things but Mexicans don't even consider that hot sauce spicy lol
Def speak for y'all selfs cuz I'm Rican and me n my whole family LOVE SPICY FOOD n pique on the side
Don't lie to the people it's not dangerous for people who don't go to caserios or act tuff
Finally damn !! Been waiting for this since I stated following you years back ! . Ya era hora brother y gracias Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 en la casa
It's important to state that he was blessed with a cool uber driver who just happened to not be a hater, in music and have good connections. That made this video a super success. (My opinion as a rican who lived over 15 years in PR)
Ya he got blessed wit the right uber driver FRs
Thank you for letting the world see our beautiful island for what it really is!!! I love my people!!!🇵🇷💪
I appreciate the literal translations. Many translations give the intent of the speech, this one is literal.
👏🏽👏🏽
Coño mano!!! Gracias por este video 💪🏾🇵🇷🔥 Ya eres oficial un hermano boricua 🎉
Thank you mi ermano I ain't been in the isla since I was 13yr old and you brought some memories by walking around and talking to all the brotha s I feel your excitement makes me feel good pa b safe and keep on bringing light to the dark story of the caserios en PR
I'm a new subscriber here from the Philippines....just accidentally browse one of your video and I addictedly doing marathon right now to your videos..keep it up.

But no accident that you are liking it huh?
Sol Sol, dilla dilla😂

Maaaan your excitement is felt The put the screen! The amount of respect, excitement and immersion you show is honestly awesome. Many Americans go to PR to take advantage of tax cuts but few actually embrace the culture. You went to PR from a whole nother country and embraced our culture. De un bori gracias!
🇵🇷 exactly what you said, I wish every other country lived and showed the pride they have for their own countries like this!! No tough talk in this video at all. They only wanted you to truly appreciate and enjoy your time In Puerto Rico!! 🇵🇷
This is the first time I see your content but im glad it was recommended. Gracias por venir!

Timmy, your contagious, buoyant and childlike attitude won the hearts of those you spent time with and those you met on the sidelines. Given your overall extroverted personality, you blended in with a bunch of guys in the most natural way. Besides, sharing the love for "Reggaeton" you have, the bond was even stronger, and Puerto Rico loves you for that. Keep those videos coming, but above all, stay safe.

I’m born and raised in jersey but my parents are from Puerto Rico and when asked I say Puerto Rican I’m so proud of my island my blood line culture
Great video timmy. To show the true Puerto Rico and not the shit they show on the news. Definitely seems like the best place to live in all the Caribbean
Nah its Jamaica for the beaches food and music
@@Leojw10 Jamaica has lots of poverty and it seems as even in the "poor" places in Puerto Rico that the government takes care of their people unlike even here in Canada that the government doesnt give a shit about the poor

I wouldn’t call Llorens Torres a perfect place to raise your child. There’s still LOTS of drugs and guns issues. And once in a while they get shootings.
True, but it is better now than it was before. The constant intern fights kind of stopped because they came to a dialog about " NO MORE SHOOTING," so kids are now safe!🤟

I was filming in La Perla last year and some guy started starin at me. That guy is lucky he didn't try anything, he would be RIP.
Brooooo Im spending the entire month of August in Puerto Rico. I waited all year for this trip and I cant wait
I always have fond memories of Puerto Rico and La Perla. We literally walked up on it while exploring the island. We actually ate and chilled in la Perla, it was cool. I’m a black American from Louisiana so I’m used to dangerous places and Puerto Rico’s historic district reminds me a lot of New Orleans
🙂❤👍Thank You Timmy Karter Another Awesome Adventure🙂❤👍Watching from NB Canada🙂
