  • This #shorts is a quick walk through for some of the equipment that was used in the experiment previously posted to the channel. We were able to identify the lavender albino "gene" in animals that were not visual albinos - that is, we were able to genotype (test their DNA) animals that did not have an obvious phenotype (their look) for the same trait.
Many thanks to Dr. Hannah Seidel of Eastern Michigan University and the Ball Python Genetics Project (sites.google.com/emich.edu/ba...)
Many thanks to MiniPCR who helped me locate the correct equipment and begin working on this exciting project (www.minipcr.com/)
The whole experiment will be shared as soon as possible but enjoy this sneak peek if you're really curious!
This involves real reptiles and research that many hard working individuals have all contributed to with the power to change the industry as we know it. There will be no wasted time or effort on targeting specific genes since the genetic testing process can tell us which snakes have the traits we want. That means less snakes being exposed to each other (ie: better disease control) and less wasted effort (ie: you are getting old) for breeders.
