This was meant to be a short video featuring my brilliant artistry using ExcaliDraw (excalidraw.com). Here we talk about how genes are inherited specifically when they follow the Mendelian model of inheritance. Ball pythons are an animal where pretty much all of the different "morphs" we see are simple inheritance as featured in the video.
Banana is a confusing gene that is sex linked. An explanation for Banana is included.
"Ethical keepers" like to quite literally judge the "genetic superiority" of animals based solely on their phenotypes, or skin color and patterns, because their understanding of genetics is as far outdated as World War 2. People died in that war in order to prevent people thinking evolution works by converging to an "ubersnek" or blond haired super soldier. Evolution is the constant production of organisms that diverge from the original.
With the large population of captive ball pythons it is difficult to argue that they are somehow "genetically defective" compared to wild snakes. They are simply different than wild snakes.

Listened to your podcast with holdback rack and you brought up the topic of harmful UVA, what would you recommend since I had a double whammy of arcadia halogen and a vivtech bulb, a ceramic emitter? .

I use Vivtech bulbs. :) It may seem hypocritical but the science doesn't change - there is no safe dosage of UV light. One of the reasons we use the UV lamps is because we don't know the most appropriate way to supplement these animals during development - UV light is safer than "random" dosages and delivery of Vitamin D (which is a registered organic rodenticide in the US causing renal failure in rodents and can cause the same in other animals).
Until we have better science we are stuck with UV lamps..... for now. :)

@@ResolveReptiles haha yeah, everything will get us eventually. I think ill only run the vivtech bulb for a few hours a day since I also have an arcadia blaring.
