I'm late, but from what I saw, my reward never increased past the random boss after the Sleeper. So if you want to money-farm the Farmstead when you're low, you can just kill the Miller, the Sleeper, one random boss, and leave.

The thing about the endless mode is that as cool and nice as it is, it doesn't allow any diversity at all (sadly), having vestal (healer) and a jester (or any stress healer but jester is the best option so that is 50% of choices already locked, having this in mind, it really keeps the players away from trying more tactics, now i am not saying i don't like it, i actually love it and every day i see myself doing a darkest dungeon run and just enjoying it on my full trinket and class save. it is fun but it is limiting, color of madness is nice but crimson court was way more unique and fun, keep up the good content redhook, we love you.
in my 2k kills run on darkest difficulty I didnt use vestal but I did use a jester , jester battle ballad is almost a must in endless , I could stress heal probly better with houndmaster , he got buffed
Well yeah, hard to disagree with that, you pretty much summed it up. You know what would change the gameplay completely and actually balance it more? Vampirism. Trinkets that allow heroes to heal for a part of their dmg dealt. That way vestals or other healers wouldn't be an absolute neccessity, instead becomming optional, because damage dealers could survive without them. The thing with color of madness is, it does not allow you to foresee the enemies and plan ahead. Like, in the vanilla game i would play without spoilers and my ploy to defeating most bosses would be something like this: send a scout team of noobs, just to test the boss, see his abilities, find weaknesses etc. if they die before reaching boss fight, just send another noobs. I didn't give them any trinkets, hardly any supplies, they were just to go and be a bait for abilities so i can see what i am dealing with. Same with the Darkest Quest, i would consecutively send groups of scouts to see the way forward and enemies, so i may prepare for the real expedition. But here you don't know what you're gonna be dealing with, thus you need to make a team that is as versatile and adaptive as possible, there's no place for special combinations to test things out. There are like 65 thousands combinations of party you can create in the game, but in the end only a couple dozens at most would be suitable for this gamemode.
Although Vestal + Jester is THE most broken combo, not only in endless harvest, but in the normal dungeons too, there are other alternatives as well. I did a 1.3K with an Arbalest - Antiquarian - Houndmaster - Crusader party, and i didn't had any problems at all. The thing is to find a party that can solve all the future problems, without necessarily confine them to a single role. A.e: my crusader was support oriented, with both crimson court trinkets, and ran both heals, his attack and the protection, so he could do almost anything at any time. The arbalest had her new shard trinket and the ancestor's musket ball, that although was primarily for the dmg, it also managed the stress with all those crits and could save my characters when a heal was needed, not only for the primary heal, but for the buff, pointing towards further heal. The Antiquarian had the master's essence and the candle of life, so her function was to buff the party dodge and tho heal when needed, heal that wasn't bad at all by itself, and pretty good when buffed by the arbalest heal. And for last but not least, the Houndmaster, equiped with the ancestor's coat and the miller's pipe, was the one that protected my characters accumulating dodge, and also stress healing or damaging when needed. To be sincere, this is one of my personal favourites, and i exited the quest because i didn't had any problems and i was full. I encourage you to try it, and maybe you will change your view about the "character diversity", cheers man!

Darkest Dungeon is a solid game, but endless mode really shows that it's really hard to squeeze tactical depth from a system as simple as Red Hook is using.
After the core game (stygian), i wanted more, after the court, I wanted more, but after c.o.m i felt like i had seen all the things the game has to offer. It's not necessarily a bad thing as i have already around 300 hours in that game, but i feel like red hook has now to make a whole new game.
Yeah i agree, i'd love to see a proper crafting system (weapons/armor/trinkets as the player needs them etc) with arcording scaling. Like each effect has a different value on each piece of gear (inside current party) will scale the enemys up by a set value (+1hp +1DMG as example). Further some kind of Hamlet-Management like produce food, do runs that give a certain kind of ressource the Hamlet currently needs. They could squeeze out so much more, since most of it is allready there, and since it is singleplayer they should not mind if the player manages to get "somewhat overpowered", since everything has to be not that cheap an easy to do, so the player will have earned it. The endless mode just seems like a very cheap and senseless grind that won't benefit the player in my opinion. :(

My honest thoughts are that they should have stopped at the core game, given new characters if they wanted - but saved Crimson Court and Colors of Madness for Darkest Dungeon 2 (or make them their own games). There was novelty and difficulty to be found in the sanity system and the rogue style gameplay, but after this long, hardore fans have learned to strategise to an exhorbitant degree or just straight up cheese the game. While I think the storyline still holds up with the new expansions and Wayne June's voice is still a treat to listen too, the gameplay needs a revamp.
It just shows how lazy they've become. Don't think that I'm bashful or hate this game. I love it. It's just that this game has so much potential to be more then it is now, and that potential is being wasted with time. If the game had more options for modding in engine, that would be another discussion, but as it stands, they're just adding some mobs and stats with backgrounds, nothing more. Quite sad actually. Yknow what I never understood? Why are you locked into one party comp THE WHOLE RUN? Like, sure, it would cheapen endless mode to always be bringing in warm bodies, but you could probably just up and go "no replacing dead party members" or something similar. We keep hearing about "TIME AND SPACE ARE FRACTURED IN THIS PLACE", it'd be shockingly easy to handwave swapping party members.
Their is absolutely no penalty to just flee an encounter. So if things go sour, might as well just book the run unless you are really desperate for that ONE kill.
Or, imagine having to fight different party comps in the refracted time parts. Instead of the same old bad guys, you'd have your own team, fighting against you.

That was my first team for going on endless :D they have such a chemistry (specially on bosses). Does anybody know if that achievement to find all wandering bosses requires you find them on the same run or just finding once is enough? I know collector was off the list (but you can still add him manually) so I'm just waiting the devs to include him
wandering bosses are shambler, collector, thing from the stars and fanatic, crimson court stuff was confirmed to not make appearance on any of the mill missions so collector is the only one missing there. On a patch note devs said he had to be taken away on last sec due to a "cheese exploit" they needed to fix
my only problem was that the shiedbreaker was the only real "hard" damage dealer, kinda left me feeling uncomfortable for some reason, but shit, made it that far, must work
yeah I felt that too, mostly because both jester and man-at-arms were buffing a lot, but I prefer a team that can tank multiple fights than going with pure dps with a small mistake and you have to retreat
TheAsianSensation shieldbreaker can offset a lot of things by herself - stealth, high prot, heavy hitters - on her own, while most other characters can't compare to her versatility. As pure dps, she definitely does work and if you focus crit, she's near unstoppable.
In the 0:01 theres the town event, and also he could risk the chance of being afflicted and just stress heal it with the jester back to 0 and start all over again
@@PuppyOrion ok ill explain this as best as I can 0:01 town event increases 10% virtue chance the wiki says the base stat for virtue chance is 25% so we are at 35% at 6:00 he defeated the sleeper if you look closely at his items there was a time skip 6:04, his food went from 3 stacks to 1 indicating he finished and reached the resting place for about 5-6 time if not more he could risk getting afflicted since the jester could heal the stress back to zero bringing the stress of an afflicted character back to zero will remove the affliction cheesing virtues are easier when there is an event + trinkets you could reach 70% and if you lose the chance to become virtuous jester will stress heal you back to zero but in this case he didnt use any virtue trinket and he didnt show how he got them I only explained that it is not hard to force a virtue especially when you have a bright tambourine jester. (wow this was a year, i remember i tried this team build my self but diff trinkets)

I tried a few different party compositions and I agree Jester is incredibly good. I sometimes take a houndmaster instead, but his stressheals are unreliable. For those of you who (rightfully) complain about 50% of the team being locked in by Jester+Vestal, I can advise to install mods if you have not already. This opens up much more parties for Endless. My favorite party is Druid-Jester-HWM-Werewolf, with ancestral trinkets (especially the werewolf one, cause it keeps stacking +10% damage with each hit). Strangely enough, the HWM is mvp. Backed up by the Jester with +crit, he just ripostes everything straight back into hell. The Druid just spams HoT/+dodge buff and the insane amount of crits from mrs Wolf and HWM means you don't even have to worry about stress anymore. Shieldbreaker is more reliable, but Wolf is much more fun. (I'm a ripostaholic :p) Great vid btw

I always struggle to have a good run to the Miller; I only once made it to the Sleeper and beat it by some miracle! And here's you killing them with little issue and with rather good health/sanity to start with. I must be doing something wrong or you got real lucky with the dodges and not taking "unnecessary damage".
In one of the fights, after the Siren. The shield breaker was nearly out of hp. But you cut the video to the next boss fight and they were all full health again. After each boss fight. Does your heroes start with full health for the next fight?
I must know, what bosses will NOT appear in Farmstead? For what I remember, even Darkest Dungeon bosses (Like Shuffling Horror) can appear even if rarely
I'm not using mods to speed up animation. I'm using this program cheatengine.org/ The speedhack of cheat engine replaces some commonly used functions in games to keep the speed constant with it's own routine that goes faster or slower.

Mr. OP, May I ask please what soft you are using to record this video? Cause I use Bandicam and for some reason it won't record achievements when I gain them live. But in your case I saw The Poor Harvest achievement from the Miller.
There is one thing I never liked about Darkest Dungeon, no matter how much speed you have you don't get any more actions than the bad guys. It only decides who goes first each round, and I'm not sure it even does that. It might only decide who is more likely to go first. Perhaps it would be unbalanced but to me it seems like if you had twice the speed of another character you would attack twice for every attack the slower character makes.
Turn priority is calculated by Speed + (1 to 8 roll). Highest number goes first. Yeah, that would put too much stress on big speed stats than on any other stat, that wouldn't work out. What I would like though, chance to hit over 100% becomes 1% of critical for ever 1% over chance to hit.
The Man At Arms is carrying a Trinket that, when he takes damage, automatically deals back 30% of it. That red icon is the symbol of that return damage.

Well, I don’t have a Shieldbreaker, so I just hope against hope that I can pull it off with either a Highwayman or a Steel-driver (a modded class meant for the DLC)

TheAsianSensation shieldbreaker can offset a lot of things by herself - stealth, high prot, heavy hitters - on her own, while most other characters can't compare to her versatility. As pure dps, she definitely does work and if you focus crit, she's near unstoppable.

In the 0:01 theres the town event, and also he could risk the chance of being afflicted and just stress heal it with the jester back to 0 and start all over again

0:01 town event increases 10% virtue chance
the wiki says the base stat for virtue chance is 25% so we are at 35%
at 6:00 he defeated the sleeper if you look closely at his items there was a time skip 6:04, his food went from 3 stacks to 1 indicating he finished and reached the resting place for about 5-6 time if not more
he could risk getting afflicted since the jester could heal the stress back to zero
bringing the stress of an afflicted character back to zero will remove the affliction
cheesing virtues are easier when there is an event + trinkets you could reach 70% and if you lose the chance to become virtuous jester will stress heal you back to zero
but in this case he didnt use any virtue trinket and he didnt show how he got them I only explained that it is not hard to force a virtue especially when you have a bright tambourine jester. (wow this was a year, i remember i tried this team build my self but diff trinkets)

Man i tried this party with other trinkets, it was super strong dude.
I tried a few different party compositions and I agree Jester is incredibly good. I sometimes take a houndmaster instead, but his stressheals are unreliable.
For those of you who (rightfully) complain about 50% of the team being locked in by Jester+Vestal, I can advise to install mods if you have not already. This opens up much more parties for Endless. My favorite party is Druid-Jester-HWM-Werewolf, with ancestral trinkets (especially the werewolf one, cause it keeps stacking +10% damage with each hit).
Strangely enough, the HWM is mvp. Backed up by the Jester with +crit, he just ripostes everything straight back into hell. The Druid just spams HoT/+dodge buff and the insane amount of crits from mrs Wolf and HWM means you don't even have to worry about stress anymore. Shieldbreaker is more reliable, but Wolf is much more fun.

I always struggle to have a good run to the Miller; I only once made it to the Sleeper and beat it by some miracle! And here's you killing them with little issue and with rather good health/sanity to start with. I must be doing something wrong or you got real lucky with the dodges and not taking "unnecessary damage".

I'm not using mods to speed up animation. I'm using this program cheatengine.org/ The speedhack of cheat engine replaces some commonly used functions in games to keep the speed constant with it's own routine that goes faster or slower.

He was running mirror shield on the MAA, which makes him reflect 30% of damage back on the attacker. The star is the damage reflected.

Yes. I've had to fight a shambler twice (not in a row) and even fought The Thing from the Stars twice in a row.
I think by area boss he means Swine God, Siren, etc. Shambler and stuff are wandering bosses
There is one thing I never liked about Darkest Dungeon, no matter how much speed you have you don't get any more actions than the bad guys. It only decides who goes first each round, and I'm not sure it even does that. It might only decide who is more likely to go first. Perhaps it would be unbalanced but to me it seems like if you had twice the speed of another character you would attack twice for every attack the slower character makes.
Turn priority is calculated by Speed + (1 to 8 roll). Highest number goes first. Yeah, that would put too much stress on big speed stats than on any other stat, that wouldn't work out. What I would like though, chance to hit over 100% becomes 1% of critical for ever 1% over chance to hit.

It's not one fight after another, it's just the boss fights. That's why he has 1370 enemy kills by the end.

Basically you just wait until you got a Splendorous torch which gives buff to Virtuous chance and you just spam turn skip and let the stresser on the enemy side hits you as much as possible until all of your heroes get resolved
Either that, or reroll resolve checks until it happens.
Well, I don’t have a Shieldbreaker, so I just hope against hope that I can pull it off with either a Highwayman or a Steel-driver (a modded class meant for the DLC)
