Of all the soundtracks for this dlcs, and even including the base game, I think it's my favorite for the feeling it carries. It make you realize the situation is indeed almost completely hopeless. You're killing ennemies again and again just for more to show up, and even if you manage to clear a full wave, it doesn't mean you're victorious: You just get to fight another day against the goons of a cosmic abomination for whom humanity is just a pest, and your elite mercenaries are barely a speck of dust in its huge eye, enough to stall it for maybe a moment, but what is a moment in that universe when the laws of time and physics are more a suggestion than the basis of the world they should be? And yet you fight, you keep pushing forward with the futile hope that you will reach the end of this madness and eliminate those aberrations that should not exist by all logic once and for all. And finally, by the end, when you pushed deep enough, the horrible truth hit you: You're not defending the human world against those anomalies. You and your men are the anomaly in this cosmic aberration.
There are two reasons to play Darkest Dungeon: 1. It's a good game. 2. The fucking music, man. Atmospheric, majestic, mystical, and yet, neither heroic, nor encouraging. Just perfect.

I really like the introduction of synth- / e-guitar sound in this track, a possible symbol of the stellar, alien, futuristic (?) nature of the new threat of this DLC. Great work!
The colors, how they dance. How they sing! A dirge of infinite possibilities! But not for us! No, it was never meant for our kind! This is for *them.* For *them* it is a promise of new experiences and life! A chance to run wild and free across the boundless fabric of existence! But for us? It is naught but the curtain call for our way of life. A keening, falsetto chorus of insanity! There is nothing for us in those blighted stars... ONLY RUIN. WE ARE DOOMED, WE ARE ALL DOOMED.
I think this is my favourite OST from Darkest Dungeon. This song has such a... severity. Powerful, yet almost melancholic. It also has this subtle, otherworldly quality - I especially appreciate that it is subtle and not the whole focus of the song. Fittingly, it feels like an endless barrage of monsters thrown your way, weathered and beaten you hope for an end, yet there is no such thing in sight... Incidentally, the song is perfect to work on an arduous task.
This ost also describes how you struggle to fight your way to the very end. Like all of your units have low hp and yet there are enemies still coming. It's just so powerful
This has such a unique sound compared to other games, its not just because the game itself is different but the music also, excellent job on giving us players a formidable, unique, setting.
Teal will forever be known as the true color of madness. And this song will play in my mind whenever I see or hear the word "teal". Excellent work as always, Stuart!

We’re gonna find out what our old man did _this_ time around. Anyways, this track feels much more “alien” than the other soundtracks, which is fitting. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I also hear a bit of the final dungeon’s track.

Do you have any tips for absolute newbie in creating music?
I rarely do this but I bought several of your songs on Itunes with "All Things Must Come" being one of them. There's something about these songs that shake me out of my apathy and embolden me to take action when I am paralyzed by fear and doubt.
The thing I love about the Color of Madness OST is the fact that It goes from Upbeat Combat to Song of sadness really quickly down the line. That, and how out of place it is to the rest of the OSTs. Making It clear that whatever is there clearly wasn't supposed to be or stay there in the estate
This piece and "Dark Mitochondria" are probably the best music compositions I have ever heard in any videogame (three decades of gaming and not slowing down lol). Even when the gameplay gets boring the music still makes playing worthwile. It's amazing how well you capture the sensation of slowly going insane while valiantly trying to hold on to your withering humanity during the final epic battles. Hats of to you sir!
For my entire life I didn't leave a single comment on UA-cam, but I couldn't resist this time. Stuart, you and Jesper Kyd are my favourite composers. While everyone else are getting worse and keep copying each other, your every track is a masterpiece. I'm listening to your music since Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and I was never disappointed. Thank you for all your work.
And once again the Master of one of my favorite game surprised me again with this magnificient soundtrack (I think I did over do it but who cares the soundtrack is awesome)
More arrive, foolishly seeking glorious music...in this domain, of the damned....Seriously though, all jokes aside, this is epic. There is no more fitting music to accompany Wayne June than the Legendary works of Stuart Chatwood.
No wonder If you are Hollywood movie Composer ! Absolutaly falling love into ur music. Cant imagine this game without your Musics. MUSICS are beyond the best !
Dear God... This is seriously AMAZING! I honestly didn't think you could make something better than "Town in Chaos" but I was sooooo wrong. That's just... Damn... You're god damn awesome!
Agreed, Town in Chaos is superb, with many more like the Final Combat. This one is beautiful christ, just listening right now as I write. Keep it up Stuart Chatwood! I love your work.
Man the heroes of darkest dungeon have a lot in common with the SCP foundation, they cannot trully break the tide of horrors, they cannot put the abominations from the deep forever to rest. All they can do is let the world continue existing just one more day. Containing the horrors, not defeating them. Securing the darkest state, not reclaiming it. Protecting those beyond its walls, but never trully keeping them safe.
Despair, endless traveling, tragic loss, tireless marching, bearing the pain, resisting the madness, embracing the madness, using the madness, becoming a monster yourself. This is what i feel when i listen to this song, and i love it! Wonderfully done Mr Chatwood.
This sounds and the theme by itself are ON POINT! reflects and depicts very well the confusion of facing an enemy that you dont know if its from past, present or future, between lapses, your mind drifts from battle to battle, not letting your mind rest, its never ending harass.
i really love how this piece is composed Stuart, to me the main theme is not stress or despair but melancholy and sadness, which in itself is beautiful, but opposed to the military type percussion played it gives it an hopeful feeling of battle. It's like the Miller said "look at all my life, swept away by man time and even space, all things must come to an end" with the strings And we and our heroes put our foot in the sand with the percussion to say "true, we'll all be dust one day, but NOT today" It's honestly so fitting for its title and beautifully expressive to me :)
As always, thank you so much. The half of the pleasure that I get when playing DD is actually listening to your superb music. I really hope for more DLC, and for more work from you. Keep up the good work
When I first launched the Darkest Dungeon, back in early access, I instantly fell in love with the OST. I didn't expect it to get even better with future additions, but it certainly did. I hope to hear even more.
I must thank you creator of this wonderful piece, I have used this and many more of your songs for study and designing purpose, and to this day I have passed all my classes amd now I am in my university faculty of arquitechture.
Stuart Chatwood you are a genius! Your music is a masterpiece and im proud to say you are my favourite composer alongside with Paul Romero. I just hope you'll get more fame in time that you deserve.
This has to easily be my favorite track in the entire game. It stands apart so much from everything else just how the farmstead stands apart from the rest of the game. Truly amazing work Mr. Chatwood.
“When the comet crashed on our world, it brought with it a new tide of horrors each radiating with the sickly colors of madness from the farthest reaches of the cosmos. It’s newfound servants till at our soil and souls, corrupting it with its influence and seeding its malicious intent. Those who were unfortunate enough to be turned had their forms twisted to a horrible parody similar to that of the agent from beyond. From the very sawmill where the fabric of reality is torn at the seams, pours out every vile creature from every nightmarish kin aided by the unholy might of their masters, to face those who dare set foot upon the sleepers ever expanding territory. It seems almost if the abomination from the void is unstoppable, unmatched by any mortal being. But they are no different. They will fall before you like those who had faced you previously. They will perish whether it be from a tip of a sharpened blade, the end of a blunderbuss, the corrosiveness of acidic concoctions, the eldritch incantations of dark deities, whatever weaponry you shall come to bear. Whatever the means may be, you shall extinguish this infestation from the stars.”
This is exactly the kind of music I would imagine playing if I fought a bunch of crystal things while time and space are being distorted. Perfect job as always Stuart!
Simply brilliant. I thought Town in Chaos was the peak of Darkest Dungeon music, but this is the best so far. I love the dramatic/desperate motive and sad-ish choir. And percussion, my goodness. You truly are the master of all things drumming. Absoultely fantastic.
You could play this in an office full of 50 year old tax accountants and everyone would immediately grab their swords, pistols and axes to charge into the void. Top notch.
There's something about this one that brings me to the edge of tears... It's just too much for my feelings; there's hope and despair and the promise that all this will play out again, eventually.
Systematically, the music you compose is the perfect thing to listen to in my opinion. Thank you for being the composer for Darkest Dungeon, it makes the game that much more enjoyable. This one is tied with Bloodletting of the Crimson Court for being my favorite music in the game. Keep it up man.
"It was a scene from a vision of Fuseli, and over all the rest reigned that riot of luminous amorphousness, that alien and undimensioned rainbow of cryptic poison from the well-seething, feeling, lapping, reaching, scintillating, straining, and malignly bubbling in its cosmic and unrecognisable chromaticism."
Amazing soundtrack, you did such a great job with this. I don't know if you knew all about the DLCs story and that made you create such emotionally accurate pieces of music that describe the story perfectly, or maybe they just told you something very plain like "hey it's about time and space being convoluted and teriffying". In any case, you hit the spot 100% on this one. Also I've just realised I've been listening to your music since I was a kid, because I played both prince of persia sands of time and warrior within, the soundtrack in there was outstanding too! thank you for creating masterpieces such as this one
Darkest Dungeon is totaly unique and awesome for the narrator's voice AND for all those musics. Thanks a lot Mr. Chatwood ! Please, follow RedHook for their future project, it would not be the same without you ! Greetings from France !
My heart is pounding with fury and sadness. My eyes are clouded with tears of sorrow. Curse you, Ancestor, curse you for all eternity. Brilliant work, Mr. Chatwood, chapeau.
The Senescence Is my favorite of the new tracks, but you truly hit the comet out of the cosmic ballpark with all five new songs. Thank you for what you have made!
And he comes up with a unique, gripping soundtrack yet again. The choir bits really got me. Darkest Dungeon's DLC releases are always the best.... Because of the new music.
Absolutely fantastic as per usual. Keep up the great work man. I honestly do not know how well the game would do if the audio wasn't as stunning as the gameplay
I accepted the idea that all things must end very early on in my first darkest dungeon experience... but I still find myself wishing that it just wasn't true sometimes, like when I played this song for the first time. You nailed it again Chatwood.
Stuart, your talents shine through once again! This and Bloodletting are my absolute favorite songs in the game, red hook is so lucky to have someone like you on their team!

Do you have any tips for absolute newbie in creating music?
I rarely do this but I bought several of your songs on Itunes with "All Things Must Come" being one of them. There's something about these songs that shake me out of my apathy and embolden me to take action when I am paralyzed by fear and doubt.
Thanks for your support and your kind words
Somehow it never occurred to me to listen to this game's ost just for the atmosphere.
Sick Skye thanks for making me your first comment!
And once again the Master of one of my favorite game surprised me again with this magnificient soundtrack (I think I did over do it but who cares the soundtrack is awesome)
thanks for sharing your comments!
This sounds very unusual, yet the resulting melody suits the theme nore than anything else could. Great music, as usual.
Glad you're enjoying this piece.
It is more melancholic, mysterious, and otherworldly sounding tune which differentiates it from the other themes. Good job Stuart!
I often come back and listen to this and just appreciate how great it is.
Dear God... This is seriously AMAZING! I honestly didn't think you could make something better than "Town in Chaos" but I was sooooo wrong. That's just... Damn... You're god damn awesome!
Brilliant as always, Mr. Stuart! While I still personally prefer "Town In Chaos", this definitely takes second place and is still amazing!
Agreed, Town in Chaos is superb, with many more like the Final Combat. This one is beautiful christ, just listening right now as I write. Keep it up Stuart Chatwood! I love your work.
You just keep getting better and better, don’t you?
This is the same legend that gave us the Prince of Persia soundtrack. I'm forever grateful, thank you.
Darkest Dungeon OST is an absolute masterpiece!
This sounds and the theme by itself are ON POINT! reflects and depicts very well the confusion of facing an enemy that you dont know if its from past, present or future, between lapses, your mind drifts from battle to battle, not letting your mind rest, its never ending harass.
This is probably my favorite soundtrack in the entirety of Darkest Dungeon
i really love how this piece is composed Stuart, to me the main theme is not stress or despair but melancholy and sadness, which in itself is beautiful, but opposed to the military type percussion played it gives it an hopeful feeling of battle.
It's like the Miller said "look at all my life, swept away by man time and even space, all things must come to an end" with the strings
And we and our heroes put our foot in the sand with the percussion to say "true, we'll all be dust one day, but NOT today"
It's honestly so fitting for its title and beautifully expressive to me :)
*"Masterfully executed!"* Another great track - darkest dungeon, hands down, has one of the best soundtracks in any game I've played!
As always, thank you so much.
The half of the pleasure that I get when playing DD is actually listening to your superb music.
I really hope for more DLC, and for more work from you.
Keep up the good work
Those ethereal sounds... Perfect Mr. Chatwood, as always. Greetings from Italy. 🇮🇹❤️
Gabriele Riso ciao!
When I first launched the Darkest Dungeon, back in early access, I instantly fell in love with the OST. I didn't expect it to get even better with future additions, but it certainly did. I hope to hear even more.
there is good music, there is amazing music, then there is stuart chatwood's music.
thanks for such an attractive track.
5 tracks for one DLC, each one a masterpiece. You've absolutely spoiled us this time!
Time has no dominion here... Damn, what a sick track, can't stop listening to it! You sir, are a genius.
I must thank you creator of this wonderful piece, I have used this and many more of your songs for study and designing purpose, and to this day I have passed all my classes amd now I am in my university faculty of arquitechture.
Wow, thank you!
Time has no dominion over your music stuart, amazing work !
This music is a brilliant confluence of skill and purpose. You've outdone yourself, dude...
Chatwood.
One of my favourite tracks in the game as well.
May i ask if you're doing the score for the second game?
Gnome Tasty expect an announcement soon! :)
I will await the announcement with open eyes and ears!
Bravo Mr Chatwood, this is amazing! Please upload the rest as well!Thank you again for making this game greater than it already was!
“ With five feeble senses we pretend to comprehend the boundlessly complex cosmos… „
~ HP Lovecraft
It's amazing that Stuart Chatwood has looked at most, if not all the comments, and responded to most of them.
It’s my pleasure to thank everyone for listening. I look forward to release more soundtracks in the future.
Stuart Chatwood, i think you're not a human, a man can't make a soundtrack like this
Just got back into playing Darkest Dungeon again. God, I forgot how much I love the soundtrack.
I confused myself as well. I’m not sure which is my favorite anymore either.
Speaking of favorite songs, I want to thank you and Tea Party for Ocean at the End. It keeps me going for almost a year now.
This song is GodLike! Thanks a million times for composing this pure Madness and sharing it!
Great soundtrack again, can't wait for next dlc to hear more
You could play this in an office full of 50 year old tax accountants and everyone would immediately grab their swords, pistols and axes to charge into the void.
Best of this DLC's OST. This is not for the Miller fight, but the sad atmosphere fits him well.
Red Hook are amazing. I look forward to working on more stuff in the future...
My heart is pounding with fury and sadness.
My eyes are clouded with tears of sorrow.
Curse you, Ancestor, curse you for all eternity.
Brilliant work, Mr. Chatwood, chapeau.
1:53 woah man it just got a truckload more intense
"behold..the infinte malignity..of the stars!"
Your a Genius Stuart , honestly it's hard to belive how good your music is
Thank you so much for letting us listen to this! It's fantastic work as usual, right up there with Town In Chaos!
TrinityBloodFan02 these two are my favorites.
The Senescence Is my favorite of the new tracks, but you truly hit the comet out of the cosmic ballpark with all five new songs. Thank you for what you have made!
This is amazing!
And he comes up with a unique, gripping soundtrack yet again. The choir bits really got me. Darkest Dungeon's DLC releases are always the best.... Because of the new music.
Behold, the infinite malignity of the stars! Very well composed, definitely gives you a sense of hopelessness while lost in time and space.
Absolutely fantastic as per usual. Keep up the great work man. I honestly do not know how well the game would do if the audio wasn't as stunning as the gameplay
I can't help you by nothing more but a humble thumbsup. Keep it going. You're the trully one who can show us the beauty of terror and madness.
I accepted the idea that all things must end very early on in my first darkest dungeon experience... but I still find myself wishing that it just wasn't true sometimes, like when I played this song for the first time. You nailed it again Chatwood.
I can't stop listening to this track...The Color of Madness DLC's soundtracks are just so epic and this one is definitely one of my favorites! Love it
Stuart, your talents shine through once again! This and Bloodletting are my absolute favorite songs in the game, red hook is so lucky to have someone like you on their team!
big smoke I’m lucky to have Redhook. Those guys and gals are amazing as well!
So unsettling yet terribly beautiful. As always great work mr.Chatwood.
Intense!
Looped, this is my favorite music for training, feels like there's no end and at some point you doubt there ever was a beginning
