The beauty of torsen/helical is that you don't ever have to rebuild. Plus it locks up very quick unlike the clutch type it can be on or off. Love my quaife torsen diff in front and rear. Never have to rebuild ever again.
This was helpful, I did the re-stack on the rear diff plates last summer and did what you guys trying to visualize how gears were turning in relation to the axles, driveshaft, etc. Will have to re-watch this video again later as there were some parts that went right over my head
Great video! This is a lot like the Haldex system in the VW/Audi cars. It is not a true ACD in the sense that you could transfer 100% to the front or the rear, for that to happen you would need two clutch packs, one for the front and one for the rear. Instead what we have is the front is always mechanically connected and the ACD clutch allows up 50% of the power to go to the rear. What they call a FWD biased AWD system, whereas a RWD biased AWD would have the rear mechanically connected and a clutch that allows up to 50% to route to the front (the latter is the prefered setup if you can get it). The Haldex is the same only the clutch pack is built into the rear diff rather than the transfer case. The new Golf R has an AYC system that seems to work well, but it does make me think that ACD like this seems redundant if you have AYC. I mean if both rear clutches are disengaged, then all the power goes to the front, and if they are fully engaged then up to 50% goes to the rear already, what is the point of also having a front biased ACD when the AYC can do the same thing, while also controlling which side gets more? What would make sense is if you had a full ACD with two clutches that could send up to 100% to either end. Then combine that with a rear AYC, then you could really optimize power delivery.

The viscus(or ACD clutches) that control the amount of resistances on the Center diff is also in the T-case... its a bit confusing, but that's how i understand it.

I'd like to develop a mechanical or relay based solenoid system to eliminate the ACD pump and have the system apply pressure on demand. Does anyone know the amount of pressure that each of the ride modes apply via the stock ACD?
I just swappaed a 4g93 allwheel dr8ve to my lancer. Problem is i haven't installed the rear drivelines and etc. Can i run my car without a driveline for the rear diffs? Or can i lock it out? If so, how? Thanks. Hope you can help.
My acd tcase on my evo x is leaking out of the vent tube. My acd pump maybe going bad. I’m trying to figure out why the fluid is coming out of the vent tube but I’m stuck. Anybody have any ideas?

I currently have an acd t-case in my evo 8. however it was filled with redline shockproof fluid. ive been told its better to run diaqueen. can i simply drain all the fluid out the best i can and fill with diaqueen. or could i run into problems having redline residue still being inside? Thanks!

bro... the output ring gear in the transmission is nothing more than an output shaft .. which connects to that sleeve on the center dif... quit saying front dif on the trans... cause it's not a dif... it's just an output that goes to the dif in the transfer cause which then directs power when needed
The stock ACD can take about 550hp and 480 torque Which is honestly not that bad but anything after that it’s over I work with an Evo Tuner and that’s usually when the stock tcase ends up taking a shit

It also showed me that changing to a wavetrac lsd or similar wont affect my ACD as I initially thought it would .

I believe hes referring to TRE, Team rip engineering. They're one of a couple well known shops that do drive train rebuilds for the evos.
