  • Ever wonder if your golf swing’s low point is in the right place to start? Do you know if it stays there while you are swinging your club? What about the difference in the low point between a fairway wood, an iron, and a driver? There is no way it can be the same for all 3 and this video will remove any questions and doubts you may have about the situation. We will also show you how you can compress through that ball, and into beautiful piercing trajectories that would have your ball find more fairways and greens in regulation with a fun factor that is through the roof!
    Wait till you see the smooth visuals that will guide you to the perfect ball position and task that will keep you nicely centered on hitting clean shots with a great spin that will hold up in any situation.
    00:00 Introduction From Shawn and Sav

    Makes total sense to me and why I line up my driver and swing. I remember that je day on the range just moving the ball more and more to my left each time until I was hitting the ball better and I found the position was way to the left of where the books were saying.

  • @dominicfrank77

    WOW. Sincerely......this was the best thing I have ever seen. I take from a tour coach who has been working with me on chipping for the past several months. I asked him a question about the driver as he and I get to play together a few times a year....and his comment was that I need to get loft and that I have a glancing blow. It hit me so I came on here to find what that meant and I find this video. WOW. I went to the range immediately and WOW. Moving the low point before the ball AND setting up more like Sav, which at first looked odd to me, was big big big. I carry my 3 wood 255-260 but my driver is only 270....and the last session I had was 290 carry.....right where I thought I should be with a smash factor consistently 1.50 which was NEVER achievable with my old swing and set up. I cant wait to get on the course with this. Also, the alignment link......its like you are speaking to me directly. Still working on that part to stop aligning so poorly but feel I am on the right track. I still get SOLD on the line I see at address rather than staying committed to the line from behind the ball. I will be focusing on a 6 inch target now to see what that does. THANK YOU

    I had difficulty with the ball on a string analogy as arms don’t work like a windmill. But the club throwing helped me enormously especially with longer clubs. I now forget about the ball and concentrate on throwing the club the ball is collateral damage of the club throw and consequently goes straight and longer. Not throwing I am too steep which causes out to in path and a wicked slice. Thank you for the insight & Keep up the great work, it truly is wisdom in golf.

    I have been looking at your stuff again after having taken a break from you for a few years. I felt you were just too naturally talented to understand that mere mortals could not just copy what you do. But I think I get it now. I tried the severely strong feeling grip with sufficient shaft lean and body tilt to feel it would not hook way out left and everything just felt so easy. Long, straight or even slight draws even with the driver and easy balance. I do hope it will last because this really felt good for all the set, not just parts of it. Thank you. But I think I am not flexible enough for a savvy super strong grip. But my nieces will be linked in to this channel, because her length off the tee is amazing. And hitting up 10 degrees is insane.

    Was on the golf course today and after a couple of holes with mixed success, I stopped and threw some clubs when I was alone on a fairway with plenty of space. Then I played the rest using that feel and documented it on video. Throwing the club is a great swing thought if one can focus on just that (without any thoughts on backswing etc...). I can easily lose balance when I just hit the ball, but never lose balance no matter how hard I throw :) Then I got home and saw this video :)

    Shawn I have been watching your videos for about a month now and it has made a big difference in my ball striking already. I have searched for the average golfers launch angles for the irons and angle of attack. I can only really find it for tour players. Could you give us a range of those for PW-5 iron for the average golfer?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому

      Good topic for a video; however, the tour players have the proper delivery and therefore are the gold standard to strive towards and the higher launch angles on irons are less desirable as they make your shots vulnerable to wind.

    Back watching after a absence from golf as good as ever I see from both of you,my question is when Sav hits the driver the position of the shaft at address I always thought the end of your club was approximately in line with your belt buckle Sav seems to have it a long way forward with a little forward shaft lean and she strikes it beautifully

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 роки тому +1

      Correct; it is not about body part placing, it is about functionality in the task. We are looking for a nice throw in the direction we want to start the swing and be able to nick the tip of the tee on the way up in that direction. Sav does this in spades and this is why she is so good with the driver.

    Great stuff! I have a question about the irons. Lots of talk about shaft lean these days . My question is does the shaft lean happen because I shift my weight forward ahead of the ball before contact and my hands follow my body weight or am I actually doing the shaft lean separately from my body with just putting my hands farther ahead. Many videos just show moving the hands but if i take a regular stance and hold the club normal weight even 50 50 and then shift my weight to the left and leave the club head where it is but my hand go with the body weight i get that shaft lean and it feels much more natural . I've been going through the Wisdom In Golf vids, I have never played better. I must have taken about 8 shots off my handicap. Slightly off topic here, but when Sav sets up, she likes a nice bit of forward shaft lean which appears to open the face a little? am I seeing that correctly? it would make total sense with the draw as it would help to start the ball to the right?

      Hey Jare! You need to see the “grip-club relationship; she has a very closed face dynamically; see the face of her club pointed at the sky like Dustin Johnson’s? This is what allows her to really swing through the ball and out intonthe direction she wants that ball to start on!

And often when i see that super strong grip in people, they do an early wrist break (not the long extended backswing Nicklaus was famous for). Enlighten me. I'm a bit puzzled by this address position of having the hands so far forward, it de-lofts the iron and I feel is pointless because when the iron actually hits the ball the impact position is aligned to the leading arm, the iron isn't in front of the leading arm. But golf is very much a personal preference and what works for one doesn't work for all. If it works then stick with it but I'm not a fan of this exaggerated leaning body position and arms massively forward position.

    • @golflessons

      Hey Dan! What matters is that the address position matches the task we want to deliver into the direction we want the ball to start on; not match positions to opinions based on assumptions.

      Shawn Clement’s Wisdom In Golf Instruction Wow 😳 Im really shocked you like the swing 😝. I don’t see even 1/2 of the torso turning with the hips in the backswing like we discuss here,, I see a very rushed movement back and through. I see he is crushing the ball but I would like to see when his tempo is off and his biceps meet his chest coming back: would lead to a ton of manipulation. Maybe I need to see it slowed down instead of at 130 mph. I’ll check out the videos for sure: first glance I see him take it away with his arms with his quads engaged as well, and from there I see very little turn back: I will say I like the club being extended like that at address, in my mind it promotes width, i like the elbows almost hyper extended at address, there are no wet spaghetti noodles in his address that is for sure.

    • @psilver063
      @psilver063 4 роки тому +1

      Shawn Clement’s Wisdom In Golf Instruction well the slo motion makes that swing look way way different: he is turning full 90 going back. It’s almost like he is able to turn hips and as you look up from his hips to his neck the twist going back is like a coil under tension and then someone releases the coil at his neck and he goes from 0-130 in a tenth of a second.

    I can't wrap my head around this, or even your older and newer videos.. the setup is the same for driver and irons, dipping the trailing shoulder down for irons as well as driver. Driver we understand right, we want to catch the ball on an upswing (post the low point), so since you are swinging that way, it makes sense to have your trailing shoulder down. but the driver swing and the iron swing with your system are always down, like you are swinging up on the ball. I just can't grasp your system. Especially when you swing Shawn, you go back and up and then down and up, (it totally looks like an easier swing with good club head speed), I try that and I'm sticking my club in the ground. Not to mention the ultra strong grip, and the opening of the rear foot/body.. Just so many things that I know you try to explain, but they don't look normal to me. I'm wondering if it's because your students are all left handed? :)

    Does it really matter if our hands are below our sternal notch or off our lead thigh at setup, or is it based on body type, or individual preference?

    • @silverfeathered1
      @silverfeathered1 4 роки тому

      For a unit feel; I'd say it's more beneficial to be "below our sternal notch".
      I encapsulate that statement because with tilt at setup our hands are both below our sternal notch (relative to the triangle's motion) and closer to our lead thigh.
      I think it's too easy to break down the machine if we focus on placing the small gears in position before the big ones.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  4 роки тому

      well that all depends on what your task is and if that set up matches your intent! are you trying to hit the ball or deliver an action that would have you collect a ball from where it is and send it to the direction you want it to go? or are you simply looking at blindly finding a position based on an opinion?
