Modernist and Revisionist historians just cannot bring themselves to notice and admit that JS Bach lived his life as a COMMITTED CHRISTIAN BELIEVER. He lived and believed the words of every piece of church and religious music he composed or arranged. Besides being responsible for the music in the four principal Lutheran Churches in Leipzig, he taught Latin in the Thomaschule (St Thomas School). J. J. Is an abbreviation for his prayer, "Jesu Juva," "Jesus, Help Me." Bach wrote "J. J." at the top of each first page of his composing paper when he sat down to write a Sacred piece. Likewise, after the last measure of each piece he wrote ""S.D.G." The three letters stand for "Soli Deo Gloria," "To God Alone the Glory." He took great pains to "tone-paint" the music to which the words were set. For instance, references to Christ being our Shepherd invariably make use of Recorders, reminding the listener of Shepherd's pipes. A truly humble, devoted and highly talented Christian believer. Bach was NOT a Humanist. He was a practicing CHRISTIAN. His Kalov Bible still exists and is replete with his study notes and thoughts written in the margins of many pages of Scripture.
Whatever Bach believed or not, does not impact my opinion of his status as the one the greatest composers who ever lived if not the greatest. Also the (probable) fact that Bach was a devout Lutheran does not prove in any way that your god exists. . Being a humanist in those days did not necessarely mean that he did not believe in God. Also Bach lived in a time and place where being something else than christian had severe consequences.
Do you have an example of a "modernist" or "revisionist" historian unable to notice or admit that Bach was a believing Christian? I'm an atheist myself. I never assumed other than that Bach was a believing Christian - just like most of the people around him. The awareness of his faith heightens my own experience of his music. Even though I don't believe as he evidently did, I find that his music gains in meaning when it's not merely a thing of beauty but an expression of this person's deep spiritual yearning. Similarly, listen to the "et incarnatus est" in Mozart's Mass in C minor and realize in an instant that that man was either an astonishingly adept faker, or a devout Catholic in awe of the mystery at how God became flesh. But to come back to my first sentence, when you criticize "modernists" and "revisionists" without any indication that they actually do the thing you attack them for, it comes off as shit-kicking, rather than constructive conversation.
As I understand it, what is now called a "recorder" was the standard European flute until it was displaced by the transverse flute in the Eighteenth Century. This is why illustrations of "The Pied Piper of Hamlin" consistently picture his magic flute as a recorder.
The reason the recorder has a bad rap is because primary school kids rarely play them well. A recorder - like any musical instrument - when played well is a thing of beauty.
Ow indeed recorder families come in a variety of types: the consort ( renaiscance ) cilindric recorders, the baroque recorders, the modern eagle recorders. And yes they do sometimes have differend fingering, although it is roughly the same ( not to mention an "easier"(?) bizar german fingering mind you ), blowing techniques and intonation. And even in one family you have differences: a (great)bass recorder is not the same as an alto, a soprano is something quite differend from a tenor. Most of them are tuned in modern settings in 440hz standard, but there are the 416 and even lower instruments. And they play a variety of music, even The Pink Panther ( Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet ). Renowned builders as Moeck and Mollenhauer have very good instruments, but there are also the private recorder builders. They usually use copies of recorders like the original Rottenburgh kept in the museum in Brussels. And as much as you have to admire the professional players likes the ones here or Marion Vebruggen, Michala Petri, Hans-Martin Linde or even the late Frans Bruggen, ..., there are a plethora of good amateur players which can get a more then a decent tune out of the instrument. Check out www.youtube.com/@Team_Recorder by Sarah Jeffery if you do not believe me.
Bach opened the door to heaven a little,so that we can appreciate what God listen to.The recorder is a very underrated instrument. When I listen to Bach, I often remember Chopin's words:" Bach is an astronomer who discovers the greatest stars". Music of divine beauty. Thank you
Bom dia. Sl 46 Saudações do Brasil.

Underrated by who
Sometimes I feel very lucky to have been born in world where there is Bach.....it doesn't get better than this ❤
Bach opened the door to heaven a little,so that we can appreciate what God listen to.The recorder is a very underrated instrument. When I listen to Bach, I often remember Chopin's words:" Bach is an astronomer who discovers the greatest stars". Music of divine beauty. Thank you
Yes indeed he has.
It all goes back to Bach and I love his music.
Bom dia. Como o próprio Bach diria: a Deus seja toda a glória. Saudações do Brasil.
@@luizfernandolessa1889Praise God!!!
I love Bach's music. Thankfully he composed a lot. There is never enough of his music.
Sl 46
Saudações do Brasil.

Obrigado pelo excelente gosto ,linda Playlist.
Excellent subject for the video.
track 1 is the first movement of BWV 1049, not the second
Yes, that's right
To quote Hawkeye Pierce, "Ah, Bach."
Thanks!
Magnífico!!!!!!!!!!
❤️❤️❤️
