    What about the antibacterial properties of Nylon? And the fact it last far longer than polyester which would make it far more sustainable to use.

    I ordered my first sample last week and it came in yesterday. I wish I would have found your videos before ordering the sample! I've got a great polyester spandex mix athletic shirt, but after wearing it for a few hours IT STINKSSS. I had no idea that was something I had to consider haha.

      Nylon will stay fresher for much longer because it's antibacterial.
      I conducted a lot of research into the old style nylon football and running shorts compared with polyester shorts, nylon came out on top with how many days you can wear the same shorts 5days+ v polyester which was 1 day

Much appreciated, thanks.

    Thank you FittDesign for this excellent video. Which fabric resists the best to pilling (after several washes) ?

    • @IrregularPineapples
      @IrregularPineapples 2 роки тому +1

      Nylon is prone to piling, polyester is resistant to it like he says in 3:00 -- the video graphics make a mistake and show the Nylon as Piling Resistant (even though he says himself in the video that Polyester is the one that is resistant to Piling).

    Thanks for the informations.
    But what about smell? Polyesters are also more Lipophilic and „store“ sweat smell even after washing the clothes.
    Another aspect is the durability. When I buy a resistent pair of leggings I will pay less compared to buying a lot more often a pair of less durability and quality.
    Greetings.

    • @amyx231
      @amyx231 4 роки тому +1

      Tanja Maria I think nylon feels better, smoother and more luxurious, but the problem is, thicker leggings are usually polyester. Nylon leggings are usually thinner and thus more see-through. Plus, I do like colors. I’d rather have a thicker opaque purple polyester pair than a thinner grey nylon pair.

    Can someone please tell me how well abrasion resistance 600d polyster is. Many riding jackets & pants in India are made of 600d polyster with Invista cordura on shoulder, elbow, knee & shin area. I am aware Invista cordura is more abrasion resistance, but how much normal 600d polyster is at withstanding abrasion resistance.

  • @IrregularPineapples

    3:00 you make a mistake in the graphics -- you say that Polyester is Piling Resistant while you the graphics labels the Nylon as Piling Resistant -- from experience I know that Nylon is prone to piling and polyester is almost impervious to piling.

      Polyester because nylon is more isolating (for winter good)

    • @danielkutcher5704
      @danielkutcher5704 3 роки тому

      Nylon, because it absorbs more water, acting like cotton when used in a lightweight fabric. It is also more durable when used in a very lightweight fabric. They both dry relatively quickly. Nylon is rarely found in a stretchy knit, wheres polyester is rarely found in a stiffer fabric, such as what might be found in windbreakers, aka windproof garments.
      This might help www.rei.com/blog/run/how-to-pick-the-most-breathable-fabrics#:~:text=If%20you%20want%20clothing%20that's,more%20breathable%20than%20tight%20ones. I used to work for them. This is not an endorsement.

    Why are there so few tents made out of polyester, it sounds superior, less stretch,water resistance, cost ?

    • @danielkutcher5704
      @danielkutcher5704 3 роки тому

      Nylon fabrics of identical weaves, are initially stronger than polyester, and absorb waterproof treatments more readily, too, but because it absorbs water more readily as well, making it heavier than wet, and becomes weak more quickly than polyester with exposure to sunlight, it is losing favor among outdoor enthusiasts as a fabric for tents and awnings. Most cottage industry manufacturers have good information on materials. Dutchware is one of my favorites.

      It still needs a coating to be completely waterproof. It absorbs less water than uncoated nylon, which act a lot like very thin cotton, or linen, when wet, but it will quickly soak through if not coated.
