It is biased, perhaps, but I work for the organisation that modifies the base Nissan Y62 into the Warrior variant. I cannot express the planning and engineering challenges of reengineering the Y62 model from a functional vehicle into an all-around vastly superior car that arrives at our plant. They are worlds apart.

Agree, you guys are brilliant engineers, the car is incredible. Only thing I didn't like are the plastic wheel flares are peeling off on demo cars. They look stuck on with tape.

It's great that you are proud of your work and congratulations on that but saying that it's "vastly superior" and "worlds apart" to the standard patrol is maybe one (or is that two), superlative step too far.

Great review! What a (likeable) barge arse of a car - I instantly knew my dad had arrived in his because it would block out the light coming into the lounge room. That's my two cents, which I hope boosts the engagement numbers or whatever!

That wood grain that people complain about isn’t even that bad it’s just out of fashion but I bet one day it will make a comeback.

Great review as per usual - love the format, super thorough and great to hear some real life experience without solely going off a press release like the other aussie channels seem to do. Great job Driving Enthusiast

Still amazes me as to why Nissan haven’t sent Australia the updated version considering how well it would sell. We always get the second tier cars here

The hbmc system is meant to mimic the single live axle setup to a degree.

It’s not just “Australia” that missed out on the interior update, ALL right hand drive countries did, as Nissan Japan decided that to update such a small number of right hand drive countries was not financially viable. To say that “they would sell more if the interior was updated” is factually incorrect. Nissan in Japan allocate about 6,000 patrols a year to the Australian market, and they sell every single one like of them like hot cakes. Almost everyone that buys a patrol will buy it to tow (including me)(14L around town and 20L towing my caravan). It tows with ease, pulls up superbly, and doesn’t look back when overtaking. I didn’t buy it for its 0 - 100 exhilaration, I bought it for its no fuss, comfortable, no bull towing ability. The Y62 is a beast. If fuel consumption was a main factor, then I wouldn’t even consider a caravan in the first place.

South Africa got an interior upgrade

    • @markandkim66
      @markandkim66 4 місяці тому

@@kaidenchetty4572 are you sure about that. I’ve never been to South Africa, but doing a quick search for Nissan SA, the patrol shown has the same old interior as mine here in Australia.

@@kaidenchetty4572 The New and latest Y62 Interior layout is NOT available in RHD Patrols in any market as Nissan Japan did not Engineer it! SA is a RHD country. Are you implying that they sell LHD versions there?

I think the outside looks a bit boring, they should have got rid of all the chrome, I agree with you the chrome looks like something from 2000, manufacturers need to get rid of it replace with something like copper such as CUPRA, and interior piano black has got to go, I guess the Warrior bits are done locally so it's not so easy to get rid of chrome, I guess it was just a bit of a local tart up job, can't wait to see the Y63, I hope they don;t compromise engine reliability going to a TT V6.

Bigger Tyres kill the economy. My y62 22 model will achieve under 12L per 100 freeway cycle. Around town which is all stop start, nothing over 18k round trip, it’s around 18/19 but I don’t baby it or drive for economy either. Towing 2.8T I’m around 22 freeway cycle

I own a TI Y62 and the steering column is adjustable for reach and height via two independent leavers. Has the height functionality been deleted from the Warrior?
I noticed a middle seat belt positioned in the ceiling above the third row. Does this make the Warrior an eight seater?

    • @drivingenthusiastaustralia

Thanks! And yes, my mistake, I forgot the Y62 has two adjustment levers.

I have the seat belt in the roof in my Ti 22 model making it an 8 seater. I was certain all Ti were 8 seater. I’m looking at a 2013 model on carsales just to check and it has the 3 seat belts for the back, one either side and one in the roof like my Ti

Don’t like the decals, side exhaust, swade is not good in a 4x4, side steps needed to up date with rock slides, needs a full under body protection. Should have bull bar on front as well.

You didn't really go into depth about the HBMC (Hydraulic Body Motion Control), system to great length. It really does make this heavy and tall vehicle comfortable to drive and attack corners at a speed that almost defies physics. I constantly scare and then surprise most passengers who think i'm going too fast but then amazed at how little body roll it has! There are no Shock Absorbers in traditional sense. Just double-acting hydraulic pistons on each wheel and a passive, pressurised inter-linking hydraulic lines that do the job of anti-sway bars on the road and allow for maximum articulation when off-road. This is a another one that hard-core 4WD'ers bitch about, but if good enough for world Rally Cars then its fine by me. As you stated the Ti spec is the best value and it is a blank canvas that you can modify to your needs/wants like Towing, beach runs, off-roading etc. Personally the addition of a supercharger and better exhaust just opens it up to another level.

GVM is only 3500kgs, less 2884kg kerb wait leaves 616kgs. If you tow max 3500kgs, you'll have a towball down weight of 350kgs which leaves just 266kgs of payload. Have I missed something? This doesn't seem much better than the average??
