"Basil is who I am". I had the chance a few years ago to read two pages of Wilde's manuscript of Dorian Gray. The extract was when Basil reveals Dorian his being deeply in love with him. It appears only, I believe in the uncensored version that was released a few years ago. A real moment of bliss and fulfillment for a novel that I have enjoyed reading so many times.

Wow! That's impressive. I've been a this thing for weeks. I'm trying to finish it before the end of the month, which is tonight at midnight. So I've had to read quite a bit in the last two days. I was on chapter 11 this morning and I'm starting chapter 19 right now. It is really good and I hope I finish it today so I can count it in my January reads
This book did a great job displaying people's vanity (*cough* the Vane family) and how life has it's pleasures but everything has is consequences. Also, allowing people to influence you because of their looks and status is generally a stupid idea. Finally, I'd like to hear an argument between Lord Henry and Jubal from stranger in a strange land
he would be happy with all the gay clubs but upset with the "state of art"... which he already was in the 1890s. I feel like he wouldn't GET movies or tv
I agree. Oscar would be speechless.I would like to bring back Van Gogh... so he could see that one of his paintings sold for 81 million & that all his paintings are considered masterpieces. & how much he is revered.
27:53 He knows nothing about it. He shall never know anything about it. But the world might guess it, and I will not bare my soul to their shallow prying eyes. My heart shall never be put under their microscope. There is too much of myself in the thing Henry, too much of myself. 29:34 Giving my soul away quote 56:18 In that case, let our friendship be a caprice
One of the best recordings of this masterpiece. Wonderfully read by a fascinating tone of voice. P.s. You should’ve divided it into chapters in order to make it easier to catch up.

unlike blanch n richard, dorian fictive self is his physical form, and his immoral behaviour manifest itself on the portrait, the true reflection of his identity
Basil is so hopelessly in love with dorian, poor guy
he just like me
Dorian this and Dorian that but can we all appreciate Basil please....

I'm surprised there isn't a bunch of paragraphs of people analyzing this book in the comments. I'd like to read them and know everyone's thoughts.
I might just start that… this book is absolutely fascinating and lots of things I studied for my senior thesis are connecting with this book!

Oscar Wild is my favourite writer, and oh boy just how much I want to see him in 21th century America. The man would go crazy
he would be happy with all the gay clubs but upset with the "state of art"... which he already was in the 1890s. I feel like he wouldn't GET movies or tv

both blanche and dorian view youth as an important aspect of their identity
unlike blanch n richard, dorian fictive self is his physical form, and his immoral behaviour manifest itself on the portrait, the true reflection of his identity
unlike richard, dorian recognises his moral wrong doings after seeing evil in his portrait
“the portrait was to bear the burden of his shame” like blanche. her body bears her shame n her fictive self hides it, the portrait bears dorians 135
harry has strong influence on dorian s identity, makes him apathetic n callous 138
