When there's seals about, I'll actually follow them. Caught many bass that way. Even during blanks, schoolies will always teach you, hence another reason for their name. It's good to see Scotland getting some bass. Even here in Dublin the bass fishing has improved big time.
caught my pb bass in that same bay, on a surface lure, down every week or 2 in my van love it...use geordies must love it too as just about every 1 i speak to is from north east.
Nice fish Man! Love bass fishing but there is no bass around my area (Fort William) so i have to travel quiet a bit to get hands on those beautiful silver fish:) Tight lines! subbed and looking forward for another video...
@@fullcircleangling Hey, love the videos! where exactly is this spot? I live in SW scotland but dont recognise it. Would love to head down and give it a go!
Howdy David .. I thought I’d seen all full circle vids but I’ve just watched this one today , another great vid mate .. did you use any fluo or mono leader on the braid on that trip mate ? Or do you just use a low vis braid straight through ? Many thanks for all your graft doing these vids .. must take up a fair bit ya time so it’s appreciated ..
Lovely stuff! I really like the way you explain your tactics and how to learn. As a newbie to lure fishing (only had one attempt at bass up here in Scotland, as mainly go rock fishing for pollock etc) your videos are educational and inspiring. Can I ask; do you go braid, to a fluro leader? Or braid direct to lure? And how do you attach the lure? I ask as I normally use a barrel swivel for rock lure fishing when attaching a weedless lure, like a savage gear v2 sandeel. Should I use a barrel swivel when trying for bass with surface hard body lures? Or ditch the swivel? Keep up the excellent work. I’ve subbed. Tight lines. Gary
Hi Gary, thanks very much for watching, subscribing and the very kind words. To answer your question, I use 16-20lb good quality 8 strand braid which I attach a 3ft 20-25lb flouro leader. The leader is important as it keeps the colour of the braid away from the fish, gives you some abrasion resistance and allows you to get hold of the leader rather than braid which will cut your hands if you have a fish of any size on. The knot I use is an FG knot but the Improved Albright is also good if you’re just learning. I’ve never used a swivel but there’s no harm in using a small black swivel if you prefer to use one. One thing to consider is that It might pick up a little bit more weed than a smaller knot. I hope that helps and do let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks again for the kind words, very much appreciated 🙏👍
Sorry Gary, attaching the lure I use a small HTO clip which enables me to switch lures easily. You can use a standard Gemini link too. Check out the options on the Veals website, they’ve got a good selection. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the detail and help. This is a very similar setup to what I use for rock lure fishing. I’m practising the FG knot. Keep up the great work. It is appreciated! Gary
Yes mate. 80lb cheap but thick 4 strand for my lighter fishing, 120lb cheap 4 strand for my head ground fishing when the new line is around 50-80lb. 10/12 turn uni knot to secure it. Cheers
Nice. I'm always cautious to fish those environments with braid but you made it look delightful ha. Unfortunately bass has been over fished up here in Scotland. Nice to see you returning them
Hi mate. You’d think so, personally I’ve just always found the brighter the day the brighter the lure, darker darker. I guess if you’re a fish looking up a darker lure will always silhouette better - but I’m just a humble human so no telling really 🤷♂️
I haven’t fished up there Connor but I don’t see any reason why not. The sea temperature is fine at the minute and if there are some shallow rough ground spots with plenty of bladder wrack weed they should be there. Try two hours before high around dusk and dawn. Good luck 🤞👍
Another great video love to get out and do some lure fishing

Class mate , never tried for the bass but fancy giving it a bash ,,, where about is that

Wouldn’t a dark lure stand out better against a bright sky and a light lure stand out better against a dark sky? Seems to make more sense.

What are the lures called?
@@jimimccallum7572 the lures I used that day are:
IMA Hound Glide - cotton candy
IMA Nabarone - yellow/silver sandeel
Hope that helps 👍
Can u catch bass right around Scotland mate, down in Edinburgh too?

We do get them around Edinburgh but they’re pretty rare. Fishing bass lure tactics here and you’ll get sea trout though.
