    What a lot you've got! It makes me wonder if they're all necessary. When I did my bass fishing, now we'll over 60 years ago, we just had metal spoons and spinners and we still caught fish, also used the same ones for pike. I think that the bass often attack lures through aggression and not hunger. Undoubtedly some of those modern lures are great fish catchers and also angler catchers!

    Just wanted to say thank you for the advice. I tried a mark I had caught from before but was blanking after a couple of hours on sandeel imitations and a dexter. I had not seen any activity although it was calm but remembering your comments about getting takes on floating lures even when no fish are seen on the surface I tried a patch lookalike and third cast had my first top water bass! Very exciting and proves you never stop learning

    I think the eye on the weighted heads is in a good position for off-shore fishing, like for dropping off boats and stuff, but for surf-casting, and shore fishing, where they're retrieved horizontally, I find them to be weed-catchers, and snag prone. I know Fiiiiiish Black Minnows do a more forward eye position option on there shore, and seeker models, but only in the lighter wieghts. Anyway, that's that, and it is what it is. Many thanks. Raymondo.

    Thanks for your thoughts mr saltwater , very interesting indeed but alas after all that I think I’m gonna need a bigger box 🤪 so much choice out there it’s mind blowing like sweets as a kid you want to try everything . As for me 🤔 do like my lucky craft and developing a fondness for lazy lures range . Thanks for sharing another alluring 😉 video and best of luck for the coming summer season and may a PB grace the shingle for you

    Good video 🙂 I like shallow-divers, so I would swap out those sinker-plugs for shallow divers. Also, I like the Savage Gear Sandeel Pencil. A good metal that one, looks nice, swims nice, and casts like a bullet. I fish Langstone Harbour.

    I think if I could only use 1 lure till the end of time I'd have to pick the sidewinder skerrie , I dont think there's a fish in the sea that wont hit it , comes in loads of different colours , sizes and slims , and if they weren't around I dont think you can go wrong with a classic red gill

      I caught a 1.5 lb squid on a SG Seeker (white and silver, 3 inch) a couple of years ago! Portsmouth harbour entrance. I was obvs after bass and I couldn't believe it when I hauled this beast in! It wasn't even "squid season" and I thought I just had a lump of seaweed when I was reeling it in. But NO! Big squid out of season on an SG Seeker! The rear treble hook had got it right through the pad on one of its two "catching" tentacles! Stroke of luck - it made a tasty calamari pasta dish 😀

    Cheers Matt. So…. ‘The Silver Season’ begins 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
    As much as I’d like to limit myself to just one box of lures I always end up taking 3 at least. With some slots doubled up (2 lures per space) but I do find myself using ‘The usual suspects’ most of the time. I change until I catch - or submit to a blank 😅trying different depths , colours, effects etc. I’d feel disappointed if I’d blanked but had some I could have tried but they were left behind 😅😊
    I think last ‘season’ I had fish on about 5 or 6 lures that regularly caught. (From kayak).
    Maybe I’ll be more adventurous this year. I’m hoping to try more late evening into early night fishing 🤞🏻🤞🏻
    Keep ‘em coming. Might see you on the south coast some time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    I found a huge bass on the surface near the shore. Looks fresh as well. But it had it throat ripped out. The rest of the body was all fresh and intact. Anyone have any clue what would have caused that. I’m to afraid to eat it so I stowed it in my bag to use as bait latter instead. Also if anyone knows do you think it will work as bait

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  5 місяців тому

      Seal maybe ? Or a released fish that seagulls have got too! What a mystery. Bass too valuable to use as bait normally but that skin is super tough so strips could be a good tip bait

    I presume that as fish don’t have ears they don’t hear a ,lure rattle, they respond to vibrations so the rattle is a good addition.Thother solid lures must all visual unlike the flexible tails,that also produce vibrations, However real fish don’t have a rattle .only tail vibrations ans appearance.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  5 місяців тому

      Bass have a inner ear the way I understand it / there’s evidence to suggest the rattle they “hear” is a vibration. Even the thudding of a paddle tail can be picked up by bass in murky water. So yes you make a good point - these bass never cease to amaze me. I have often thought a rattle can be an unnatural sound - even the sound of clanging treble hooks could be either an attraction or an un natural noise. Thanks for that
