Thanks for watching!
Excellent, informative to the point. Thanks!
I want to know what happened to that one that escaped lol
RIP eaten by ants
Thank you so much! You made it look so easy! I must try this...great vid!!!
No problem! thanks for the suggestion!
how did it go?
I try and keep the beans under an inch deep, more than that and they have trouble digging through them. Also, I start cultures once every 1-2 weeks to keep steady numbers.
I've never had problems with cultures with a depth more than one inch but I usually don't make them much deeper, I start cultures every couple weeks as well.
Thank you for this additional, and useful information:)
I'm a toad keeper.
They gobble these up like candied treats.
How can I attract the southern cowpea? I need it
I noticed no water was added to the cups? I assume you want to wet the carboard tube before closing the lids....?
Brilliant thank you and how long will 1kg bag of beans last there so tiny I thought they be bigger. But the smaller they are the more the food last
If you keep the lid on, won't the beetles die due to lack of oxygen?
Where do you get the containers you use
I generally buy my bug containers online from TSK Supply or Superior Shipping Supply
Great video. I've not been much of a fan of bean beetles myself. It just seems they are mostly shell and not much protein. What are your thoughts?
Thanks! I find that they are great for putting weight on larger frogs but I do use them sparingly as overfeeding could possibly lead to digestive problems in the long run.
@@TCSDartFrogs Makes sense. Have you tried peanut beetles?
@@SupremeGecko I never have tried peanut beetles
@@TCSDartFrogs If you would like to try some, just let me know. (have you seen my video on them?)
@@SupremeGecko I have not seen your video but I'll check it out
They aren’t good for Amphibians because their shell is to hard. I live in Germany and here we don’t feed Beetles. They getting Problems with their stomach. Greeting
Thanks! I know that an excess of beetles can be bad for them and I do use them sparingly but I've been feeding my frogs bean beetles for a number of years without any ill side effects. I also know many other hobbyists who use them on a regular basis and have not heard of any issues. I do recommend only feeding them to larger dendrobatids though.
Same thing for grain weevils?
I've never cultured grain weevils but I believe they would probably eat flour or any dry grain rather than beans.
Ok thank you
Any luck feeding these two adult crested gecko? I’m completely blind so I didn’t see the size. How big do they get? Half an inch or watt?
ive never kept amphibians, but I have cultured beetles to feed fish and birds and in my experience the larvae is what is fed to critters, not the beetles. The beetles are foul and have a super hard shell and little nutrition compared to the larvae
Can anyone explain why a paper roll is used?
To add more space and some resting area for that beetles
A BEAN!
How do they get their water?
hi, can these beetles be used as fish feed?
i would only use the larvae, the beetles are too hard shelled, unless you have fish big eenough to swallow them whole. The beetles are also kind of foul smelling and gross.
How didnt they fly away
Amazing
Great video

Do bean beetles work for thumb nail dart frogs or only larger species?
I would not recommend feeding bean beetles to thumbnail species as they are very hard shelled and could lead to digestive problems in smaller frogs, I mainly feed the beetles to my adult tinctorius, auratus, leucomelas, and phyllobates.
@@TCSDartFrogs ok thanks
Two questions..
Do the cultures not need any type of moisture, bug gell or the like??
What will happen with any that are in the viv that don't get eaten straight away, will they start destroying plants or the like??
They do not need any type of moisture other than the moisture found in the beans.
They don't really do much in the viv other than crawl around, they are not destructive in any way.
@@TCSDartFrogs Okay, great info, thanks...
