In order to use multiple cameras in a live stream you would need to use a software based mixer for streaming. Two common ones are Ustream Producer and Wirecast. In most cases these need the cameras to be wired to the computer though. The VidiU is a point to point system for streaming live to the web from one feed. If you have further questions on this please email askbh{at}bandh{dot}com Dana G. askbh{at}bandh{dot}com
Teradek has not announced a version or a software/firmware revision for Android at this time. The device cannot be controlled remotely via the web or a PC. It is designed as on-camera device. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. Mark S.
iPhones can act as a wireless hotspot for an additional fee from your cellular carrier. The iPad cannot function in this way. Of course, you can view the footage live on either device. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. Mark S.
Currently this product will support one camera. But you may stream two feeds. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. Mark S.
There is no set delay time. For any streaming application it will depend on a variety of factors including speed of the connection and upload speed as well as the streaming service itself. Dana G. askbh{at}bandh{dot}com
I have one. It only streams 30 fps. I contacted Teradek with this issue, and the the was "There isn't a specific way to set the frame rate on VidiU -- it's a consumer-level device and won't have all the same configuration options as the professional-level Cube. VidiU is limited to sending at a maximum of 30 fps" So the specs on the vidiu site, is for input only. Also the sound quality is not that good I think.
Unfortunately this will only look good with a DSLR that outputs real HD through HDMI like some Canons but not all such as the T3i. It will look cropped.
I have a question... it seems that has some delay usin the VidiU with internet, how much is it? I can't find ONE product that doesn't give some kind of delay for live outdoors broadcast by internet :/
Thanks for a great overview if the product. The video specifically calls out that it mounts on a hot shoe. Does that mean it makes electrical connections through the hot shoe to the camera? Does it pick up audio, video and/or power this way? If not then it would be more accurate to use the more generic term *_accessory shoe_*.
This device cannot make any hot or data connections through its hot-shoe adapter mount. All data/signal is passed to the network via Wi-Fi or ethernet cable. The connection to the camera is via HDMI and embedded HDMI audio, headphone output, and a mic/line input are supported. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh@bandh.com. Mark S.
Thank you for a very clear and informative video. I have a question as to how exactly connect the device to a wifi source when the only available one is my iPhone. Can I use the personal hotspot to connect the device to the wifi? And if yes how? Thanks a lot!
Yes, you can use a Personal Mobile Hotspot with the VidiU. When creating a mobile hotspot with an iPhone the iPhone sends out a WiFi Signal for the VidiU to connect to it. You would be using WiFi to connect the VidiU to the Phone's Hotspot. It is a simple process. bhpho.to/2daihKY Thanks! -Joey P.
Hello Im looking for advice on what equipment I need to stream events like weddings on multiple cameras? And it would be a plus to stream wireless. Thank you
Please note that this product has been discontinued and is no longer available for sale. Connect your HDMI video source to VidiU and stream at resolutions up to 1080p. VidiU encodes video in real-time using high-profile H.264 compression and AAC audio at up to 5Mbps. Embedded HDMI audio, headphone output, and a mic/line input are supported. Here is the replacement: Teradek VidiU Go BH #TE100229: bhpho.to/30RWTRw: >Mark
If the battery falls below 50% "the unit may or may not re-boot." Do I have to keep the Tera-Dek plugged in 24-7 so the battery does not fall below that level? I am having a new battery put in for $200+ (on a used Vidi-u purchased from B&H actually, argh...) and the unit still may not be usable? The worst part of it is I may not find out the battery has fallen below the threshold until I am at the event, shortly before the Live Stream begins. Anyone know how to get around that design flaw?
Internal battery life for the VidiU is about an hour. This is really for situations where you must be as small and light as possible. Generally, an external power source is used. The options available revolve around the camera being used. Most of the common camcorder batteries have available substitutes that power the camera plus an added cable to power the VidiU. Here is one based on a camera that uses a very common Sony battery. Teradek 7.2V Replacement Battery for Sony NPF970/770 Batteries B&H # TENIBL647. If you are using a Canon camera, here is a possible option. Teradek NIBL 500 Battery Adapter Plate for Canon LP-E6 B&H # TENIBL500. These two options should last 2-4 hours. Of course, you can also use the AC power adapter. >Mark
great review.....i ust want to ask which is better Cerevo LiveShell or vidiu?? n im from india, want to order one, so wil it b delivered to india? n what abt warrenty
The Cerevo LiveShell PRO would be more comparable to the Taradek VidiU than the standard Cerevo LiveShell. Though, neither of the LiveShell?s will stream 1080P, which the Taradek VidiU is capable of. I would recommend the Taradek over the Cerevo. B&H does ship internationally, and can ship the Taradek VidiU to India. It comes with a one-year USA warranty. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

i can see this putting more photo journalist out of work. this is what society is coming to they want to see video and right at the moment it's happening.
For live streaming you will need a camera that has a Clean HDMI output during recording. The output on the P900 is for playback, it will not with the VidiU I'm afraid. Feel free to email us at ask@bandh.com for additional assistance if needed. Thanks! -Joey P.

Hey CJ,
Yes, you can turn your iOS device into a hotspot to broadcast over. I did this once while driving across the country and it worked very well.
what service did you have ?
Teradek is coming up! The Cube is amazing!

It looks like a great product. Can I use an ipad 3 or iphone 5 as a wifi connection to broadcast live out in the field? (4G speeds)
Hello friend I'm have teradek vidiu but a problem no live streaming on Facebook and UA-cam
Looks awesome. Can you multicam from 1 device or is it single cam only at this point?
There was a time when B&H did very good product videos.
Unfortunately this will only look good with a DSLR that outputs real HD through HDMI like some Canons but not all such as the T3i. It will look cropped.
1) is Android platform to be supported any time soon 2) Can you control the Vidiu from a web portal - such as via browser on a PC?
