Thanks for doing the demonstration. It’s people like you that help other craft people on a tight budget. Your daughter is adorable. She will be able to teach us new techniques soon. ❤️🤗
instablaster.
Absolutly perfect for my laminating machine ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx3hNjPfuybeIthQIWOFnkq-r2slRbyqre item arrived on time and in great condition. Very simple just slide the paper in between and insert into heated machine and it will come out without any wrinkles or bubbles. I love laminating pages for presentation purposes and it always makes it easier to pass around in a meeting. Also great for hole punching and putting in presentation binders too! These were a great value and although I thought about buying thicker these were perfect, not flimsy at all. I will buy again when I am out, and remember you can get in all sizes. This is an awesome product I can't live without!!
I use the Swingline. I am not an avid foiler but it works so well for me.
I love your relationship with your “assistant “💜🦋💕🌈
I have Deco foil and didn't know how to use it. I want to THANK YOU for this informative video. I Love crafting so I bought the foil and didn't know how it works. 😂😂😂. THANK YOU AGAIN and your daughter is a GREAT assistant 💟
Thank you so much for doing this, I have been wanting to get a Minc, but just simply can not afford it on SSI. Twenty dollars I can manage to afford and for the small amount of cards I make and the even smaller amount of foiling I do, this is perfect for me. I just put it in my cart and will be ordering it over the weekend. Thanks.
I have this laminator, I always let it heat up for at least 30 minutes. Otherwise i don't always get good adhesion.
So glad I stumbled upon your video. Was clueless about this simple technique to create glitter on paper. ☺ Thanks much! 🤗
I already own a scotch laminator and want to play with foil without buying another machine. This video was VERY helpful
Depending on which Scotch laminator. Let it heat up for a minimum of 30+ minutes for best results. You might need to run it through twice. Use copy or parchment paper as your carrier.
I've learned so much from this helpful video. And your assistant is very charming. :) Love that you are working on this together!
why is it always toner printed? why cant i use inkjet printed?
Because inkjet ink soaks into the paper and toner sits on top for the foil to stick to. It's science.
@@NancyStamps How about if I use photopaper? i noticed that the ink from the inkjet, sits on top of the photopaper, is that perhaps feasible in this case?
May I ask, What’s the difference between toner foil and foil art?
The foil art is the toner printed design. The toner foil is what foil you use to stick to it.
This was so helpful, Willing to try it, love to use foil on my Cardmaking, would love to be in your group to learn more about foiling I’m a new subbie Thanks for sharing !!😀❤️😀
My $18 old scotch laminator foils well 😁👍. MUST let it heat up for 30 minutes before foiling.
I'm assuming this wouldn't work with an inljet printer
No, it needs to be toner printed by a laser printer.
Thank you so much for demonstrating with a laminating machine 😃 helps me a lot I didn’t want to invest so much money into a machine I would be using seldom 😘
Love it lia dusty dusty lol
Just came across your video and it was SO helpful to this 'newbie' foiler!! I make a LOT of cards and not able to afford the Minc right now, so this will be perfect for me to start out with and pretty sure my 8 yr old granddaughter will find this crafting project 'pretty COOL' for her artwork as well!! Thanks for sharing...off to Amazon I go...LOL. Take care..
the paper with black ink, is that laser printed? or is it okay with inkjet?
Has to be laser for the foil to stick . It won't stick to inkjet
This was great to find this since the great deal I got on a minc, recently, was a bust since it didn't end up working. Ugh.
FYI- I think you *meant* millimeter and not milliliter (which is a measurement of volume) but actually the laminating sheets come in 3 and 5 mils. Mils is a measurement for plastic sheeting and is not short for millimeter. Mm is the abbreviation for millimeter.
One mil is approximately 2.5 percent of a mm. So it is extremely thin, as you notice. Lol
You would need over 13 sheets of 3 mil (or more than 6 pouches thick) to equal the thickness of just one millimeter ( which is already rather small since you need over 25 mm to equal an inch). :)
Some laminator cannot be warmed for 30mn. I have one that turn off if not used after 20mn. I still use it for large pieces like A4 paper.
Hello from Illinois. My question is what is the cold laminating setting do?
Those are for the "sticky" laminating sheets. Basically it has glue inside and just needs to be pressed together to seal.
I bought a scotch laminator on sale from Walmart for $16 and it works great for foiling!
Yes, I have a 15+ year old Scotch laminator that works ok too. Just let it heat up for 30+ mins.
I have a scotch as well and definitely have not had to let it preheat for 30 min...10 minutes maybe and it foils just fine. I even used it with my homemade toner (toner powder and glue)
I have one also….but what printer are you guys using? I want to make sure I have one that prints well or that I can at least adjust settings in
As of 2023 that laminator on Amazon is now around $30.
Yes this video was from 2020
Love Lias help in this video, great tutorial Nancy. I’m set with a laminators, small and large Minc. Great tutorial Nancy, tfs
How do you get it not leave foil marks all over the paper?
Make sure you use toner foil and not hot foil.
You've saved me $60. I have a dusty laminator in my closet. Thanks.
Not all of them work. Some don't get hot enough or have enough pressure. Make sure you let it heat up for at least 30 mins.
What a great little helper! Thanks for sharing.
Your daughter made me smile the entire time, loved it! Great information, makes me feel better about buying a budget laminator to start. Where did you get your paper cutter? I've been struggling to find a good one.
Check my amazon shop: www.amazon.com/shop/nancystamps
Great tutorial! Your assistant is wonderful. Thank you for sharing 💐👏🏻
Can you pass it twice through the laminator before removing foil
Yes. I would recommend that if this wasn't getting hot enough, seemed to work ok though and I didn't even let it heat up the whole 30 mins.
I'm wondering if I'm using the right foil medium, ive tried Gemini Foil Press multi surface rolls but on further reading about this,I need toner foil apparently or maybe I should get a Minc machine,I thought this was going to be easy, all these videos on UA-cam make it so
That is hot foil, it won't work properly. Move to toner or minc foil.
This great!!! I have a laminator and I was wondering about that. I love to hear your daughter as your assistant. That's so cute.
Can it work with inkjet? Or only laser printers?
No, has to be printed by laser. It sticks to the toner.
So when you print your image with a laser printer, is there a certain window of time that you have to foil?
Whenever you want. The minc reheats the toner for foil to stick.
I love your dusty dusty brush!! Great video
so you have to copy your images to foil on a laser printer?
Yes, laser printer is the only way it works.
I have a Scotch but have not tried foiling with it yet. It is definitely on my to do list though. TFS
Thank you so much for this. Love the mama babygirl duo❤ lots of gratitude n sunshine from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Very interesting. Thank you for doing this. I love that butterfly print for testing. One because it's home printed rather than Factory printed, but also it has the Bold shapes and the fine lines. I wonder if you've tried maybe heating it up for a good 30 minutes and then tried the butterfly print, if there would be any difference in the foiling
Yes probably long heat and pass through twice. I will do it again on a live.
Your daughter is so sweet. ❤ I bet my problems were dust spots. But I get better. Have a laminator, which Hass some settings. And slowly we start to get along.😊
Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to try. Question please, what's the name of the brush you were dusting with? Thanks
You can find it my amazon shop 3 for $10. Https://www.amazon.com/shop/nancystamps
Awesome ...I just bought a 20$ laminator for foiling from Big W here in Australia..so all your tips are so helpful..
Now I just need to get brave enough to try it ..
Just stumbled onto this site after typing in "how to foil with a laminator". Great video and I really want to give this a go. TFS
Thank you both for showing a laminator can be used to foil. I don't have a laser printer, are there companies laser printed sentiments or sheets with butterflies can be purchased?
Yes, Unity Stamps sells some.
I think it is great they are teaching time on a real clock. Analogue not digital.
Yes, I hope they teach cursive too
Does this work with stamped ink? Or just copier toner?
Only toner ink.
@@NancyStamps thank you
Loved your video and your perfect assistant! I don't understand where you buy these images? So, you can't make your own images on a copy machine? I'd LOVE to try this, I was a teacher for 36 years and I own a laminating machine. Just don't understand how and where to get sentiments and images??
Thank you so much!
Yes you can download and make your own images as long as they are printed with a Laser/ toner printer. Inkjet will not work. You can also buy toner printed images from companies. We have free images in the Foiling Snobs Club on Facebook.
Thank u 4 this laminator foiling video. If I heard correctly no foiling machine, no foiling dies r needed 4 this technique. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Will dollar tree foiling paper work? Can any laminator work, from Wal-Mart?
Here is the newest video which answers your questions. ua-cam.com/video/j_m1mCPweEI/v-deo.html
I have a anna griffin minc but after watching this youtube I had to purchase the laminator. Thanks for being an enabler. I love being an foiling snob lol
I have the Anna Griffin Minc, it's my favorite!
I want to try with my wedding invites but how do I make just some of the words foil and not all of it?
What kind of foil is this? Is this the reactive foil?
It's always TONER foil when using s laminator or minc
Thank you nancy
In some of your videos I have seen you use purple tape. What is it called and where do you get it? Also does this method of foiling only work with laser printer images? Will ink jet printer work?
Google purple tape or use painters tape. Scrapbook.com has it. Yes, images must be laser printed for the foil to stick to the toner. Inkjet won't work
@@NancyStamps thank you
Thank You 🙏. I have an older miniature laminator . I’m going to try it.
Hi when I'm transferring foil it seems to transfer the whole sheet onto the paper not just the laser printed section I'm so confused can you advise x
I'm guessing you are using the wrong foil. Probably using Hot foil instead of toner foil. What brand is it? Or your paper has coating on it.
@@NancyStamps I have the same issue I'm using Heidi Swapp heat reactive foil...and its all over the cardstock...I've tried covering with regular copy paper and wax paper..wax paper made it worse....can you help?
How can I use this kind of stickers for resin epoxy??
I love this video. And your daughter is a sweet pea. 😊💛
You convinced me. Shall order this laminator.
The laminator is very reasonable….it’s the lack of a laser printer that is keeping me from using this method. Does the Minc also require a laser printer?
If you want to make your own you need a laser printer. However, these are from a company called Crafty Critta, you can also shop Pink & Main and GinaK for foilables ready to go.
I have to say, your results with the Swingline aren't that much difference to mine using my Minc....and I paid almost AUD200 for the Minc!!! Thank you for your demonstration, that was very helpful. And thanks to your assistant too, she's adorable!
The swingline has to heat up for 30 minutes to get really hot. It's pretty close to the minc in results after it's been on awhile.
How about using a heavier cover paper
You can try that. The more heat and pressure the better.
Wow great video watching this November 20 2022 I’m a crafter with cards a total newbie to foiling question?
What did you stamp your Hello with and it totally just sticks to the letters??
Sending hugs from a 70 year old grandma in California 😘💖😀
No, that is a laser printer toner design it sticks to. It won't stick with inkjet printer.
I ruined my MINC already... dont ask... totally my fault so I guess I'm going to have to look into one of these.
Oh no :(
i use this brand of laminator . It is a really good one !!!!!
This is the first time I have seen foiling. The images you are foiling are they regular print outs? special printer? what if I printed and didnt want everthing foiled I would just put the foil on parts I wanted foiled?
Yes, must print with a laser printer or buy toner printed images. Correct, don't cover the parts you don't want foiled.
The Royal Sovereign the "other" UA-camrs use is the $60 one on Amazon, not to be confused with the cheaper Royal Sovereign machine. This is $40 cheaper!
No the Royal Sovereign that Jennifer uses is $29.00 for the 9 inch and $33.00 for the 13 inch. This is on US Amazon.
@@PlayGtr when I clicked the link to Jennifer's video it went to the $65 one on Simon Says Stamp website. Her affiliate link to SSS.
So, based on your examples, it only foils on black ink with a white background?
It will foil on anything you can put tacky glue on like stencils, you can foil on anything you can laser print on, you can foil on double sided tape. So many possibilities.
Hi! I’ve been trying this method and I keep getting a crackle/distressed effect. It’s like the foil sticks everywhere and not just the laser design. How do I solve this?
You might be using Hot foil instead of toner foil.
Great video… minc have only just come to New Zealand and they are $250 but I want to have a try… I already have a laminator so I’ll give this a go.. thanks
Let the laminator heat up at least 30 mins and you might have to pass it through twice.
What type of printer do you have? Because I heard that the laser printer is better for this type of job 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, You can only use a laser printer for foiling. I use a laser printer.
I purchased a glimmer stamp and die set from Spellbinders. Can I use the laminated to foil with the glimmer stamp?
No, this is a completely different foiling system. This is for HOT foiling, not toner foiling with a laminator
Very helpful. Thank you.
I have a Scotch laminator that I got from Walmart yrs ago, and I couldnt get mine to work well at all for foiling. I let it run for about an hour. I had a couple of card fronts that came in one of the Simon Says Stamp of the month kit that is for foiling, maybe that was just to old I did have it for quit a while. so I just bought a new one from Amazon the Royal Sovereign it was about $25 just got it yesterday it seems to work ok, I havent had the time to play much it. Had I waited a little longer I would have just purchased this one that you was using Nancy.
I also wanted to add that I bought some foil from H & H under your link, and I ordered some toner designs from Crafty Critta under your link too, and I saved both places in my favorites so I have quick access to them in the future. now since I saved them in my favorites when I purchase again will you still get some credit from it? I just want to make sure that when I do it helps you as well as me having fun.
Yes. Make sure you check back for discounts too.
Thank you so much Nancy. I loved it. I'm new to foiling so I picked up a lot of tips from you. I would ask, what is the name of the "pastry cutter" you are using to cut foil,. Seems like a good tool to have? Very best wishes Jo xx
Cricut rotary trimmer
On craftycriita ‘s website are the art foil packets toner papers. It doesn’t say..I have foil but not any toner paper designs..
Yes they are meant for foiling with a minc or laminator
Why not spend any money and just use an iron???🤔 Everybody does have one. Obviously using it on low heat.
Because an iron does not provide consistent heat or pressure.
Great tutorial Thank you. Can you tell me which laser printer you have? I’m looking to purchase one soon. Thank you in advance 🙂
Hi Jan, the brother mono printer in my smazaon shop: www.amazon.com/shop/nancystamps
I may have missed it..... but does this work with a regular inkjet printer?
No, it must be laser printed with Toner for foil to stick
I am still struggling with getting crisp foil results. The foil sometimes didn't stick fully on the paper, even I did it twice. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the paper
Can you post pictures in the Foiling Snobs Club on Facebook. Are you using a laminator or minc?
So is the paper you can use the foil on something special or can it be anything that’s embossed or can you use just a regular stamp pad? Sorry for all the questions but I’ve never seen this before and it looks amazing
I use Hamilco Smooth from my amazon shop. These are laser printed images. The foil sticks to the toner. It won't work on ink. Check out my foiling playlist.
Can I use acetate (overhead projector film) instead of paper? I want to make my own foils for resin.
Yes has to printed on a laser printer on laser printer acetate
Does foiling work with Hot option ?? What I read in the manual that it works with the cold mode
Yes it must warm up for at least 30 mins.
I have never foiled, so I know nothing about it. Where do I find sheets with print on it that will stick to the foil? I have a laser printer. Thanks so much for sharing.
Join our Facebook group and you can print them from your laser printer and foil them. Foiling snobs club
I'm so far on what's happening in FSC my internet was down 4 days
I missed you all!
What would you suggest for specks? Should I run it another time just in case? or leave it to cool?
Letting the machine warm up longer to 30+ mins and running it through twice
Awesome assistant ❤
hey there Nancy, thanks very much for the tuto, I would like to know what kind of paper are you using? Is it coated and what's it weight? I'm asking this because I've tried many kinds of paper and the foil just wouldn't stick. It would be great if you could help me out, thanks!
You can get Hamilco paper in my Amazon shop www.amazon.com/shop/nancystamps or shop DIY toner paper from Craftycritta.com use code FSC05 for discount. They ship internationally from Australia
@@NancyStamps Thank you very much! It's for the Christmas market on the 8th, so I will first try to find similar paper at my local store, if not I will surely order the Hamilco one, looks great!
Does crafty Crita foil ship to United Arab Emirates ?
I am not sure. You would have to start the order process to see. I'm in the US, they are in Aus.
Loved this video--thank you! Was planning on purchasing a Minc but read some bad reviews on it and decided not to spend the $-then saw your video. I will try this first, as we need a laminator anyway. So fun listening to your little girl, also-she is charming!
Hello from Illinois. Another question, have you reviewed the Scotch laminator or have you compared different laminators?
Hi Suzy, I have older videos using my Scotch. Look for 3ml and 5ml settings.
ua-cam.com/video/CjOSa3ekx4Q/v-deo.html
@@NancyStamps thanks, I now recall this one. The outside housing looks different so though it was a different unit. Your the best.
Hi should it only be laser printer to be able to apply foil or can you print on normal inkjet printers too?
Laser only. It has to be toner.
Hiii, does it have to be laser yet for the transfer to work? Or can you use black inkjet?
Must be laser
Hi!! thanks for sharing!! a little question can we print our designs in a inkjet printer? or it has to be laser?
No. It has to be laser printer for the foil to stick to the toner.
I have a mini minc but I think I'll get a laminator for my bigger projects until I see a sale on big mama! 😁 tfs how well this swing line works!!!
So the foil only goes on the black bits? I am confused. :0
Yes
I’m confused. How does the foil stick?
The heat melts the toner on the laser printed image and the foil sticks to it. Must be laser printed to work.
What about putting it through twice, just shifting up or down so the rollers hit a different spot?
Yes, letting it heat up longer and running it through twice would help
Is it possible to foil with inkjet instead of laser jet? Does that matter?
You can not use an inkjet. The foil sticks to the toner from a laser printer
terrific
