Our family always says that there is literally no better place to be in the summer than Roseburg Or. Never ending outdoor activities, community togetherness and the most amazing blanketing heat for those endless summer days! Great down-home people too. Kudos to you!

I used to live on Stephens Street, I think it was, not far from the dam. There used to be a viewing station there where people could walk down and see the fish underwater but they closed it years ago, sadly due to vandalism.
The Winchester Dam fish ladder is actually still there. If you look on our channel we did a full video highlighting the Winchester area, Winchester Dam, and did a segment there at the fish viewing area 😊 Unfortunately we didn't see any big ones that day! 🐟
How is the freeway noise in the Laurelwood neighborhood? My wife and I are considering relocating the family to Roseburg, and considering the options. These videos are very helpful!
I've personally never noticed the freeway noise in Laurelwood. Roseburg Highschool is located in between Laurelwood and I5. The Highschool has some very large buildings that must deflect most of the noise. I'll pay attention to see if I can hear it next time I'm over there!
You may want to ask about the HS noise ... I think band practice used to be an issue. I'm not in Roseburg anymore so I can't say for sure but years ago when I considered Laurelwood, the HS was too close with band and football game noises

I appreciate the comment! I think this would be a good video topic. What I always tell people coming from out of area is that we are a retirement community. Most of the guys I went to school with either moved or ended up in the mill industry or related labor jobs. These jobs support most of the sub $250,000 market and home sales. Most all sales above the median price range are buyers coming from out of area, medical and related professionals, or in my experience, primarily retirees.

Downtown Roseburg by far is the best place to be... next to the hub of fine dining and eateries as well as award winning bars and a mix of small business boutiques ... hopefully, more will come as the COVID leaves.... Solitude in the country is nice, but nicer is being able to walk to the action... DOWNTOWN... WHERE ALL THE LIGHTS ARE BRIGHT... great video, btw
Melrose? not always a great place to live, the School? likes to play games with the residents, they have a flashing light to slow traffic from 55 to 45, no problem, normally....BUT....they like to leave it on during weekends and holidays forcing the residents to slow down at ALL hours of the day, night weekend, 's etc etc etc. even when there isn't any children within a mile of the school. The principle is the most hated person in the area. edit: just went into town, the school has a NEW toy, they get to make us slow to 20mph now, I bet they leave it on all weekend.
People that live Downtown get offended when people say bad things about it. The facts are that it's where you'll find the best restaurants and it is coming back with a lot of new businesses. But you can't ignore the homeless and mental health up and down the streets of downtown. Up on the hill where I showed the Chadwick house is very nice though, if you're into older historic craftsman styled homes. From my clients feedback that live in the residential areas surrounding downtown you don't get the foot traffic like you do downtown.

It was nice years ago, now just a mess, same with downtown. With the homeless shelter there, downtown died years ago and is not safe at night. Be honest

I wanted to build in Melrose but bought a home in Sutherlin to escape fires and evacuations in N California. Then Covid came.
I live in Melrose now. I like it on the rural West side of Roseburg. Where in Sutherlin did you end up buying? A lot of nice areas out that way too.

Unfortunately the economy of Roseburg is horrible... they cannot attract or keep young adults there.
