I'm searching this city because an article labeled it the worst place to live in Oregon. 😂

How long does it take to get to amenities like supermarkets, doctors offices, and a hospital? Where I’m currently living the population is under 15,000 and we don’t have anything like that here. There’s a supermarket about 20 minutes away, but you have to drive through the desert wasteland to get there, and everything else is at least 45 minutes (usually an hour or more) away. Looking to move in 2025.

25,000 or less population doesn’t sound bad, IF…. you’re close enough to a bigger town that it’s easy to get to. About how long does it take to get to a bigger city with hospitals and such?

Has the homeless situation changed much since this video was made?

I have been looking at many places in Oregon to possibly move to, but... It seems like every place, whether Eugene, Corvallis or on the cost, and now Roseburg ALL have these things in common... Homelessness galore, overpriced housing/apartments that are extremely hard to find and jobs are very difficult as well to find. NOT a good combination of prospects when making a huge relocation. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, but the rest of the Oregon way of life is down right depressing. The problem is the Governor/government of the state of Oregon is of the Liberal mindset. Every Liberal ran city or state all have these things in common... High Homelessness, high prices for living and high drug and crime, which goes hand in hand. I guess my possible dream of living in Oregon will only be that, a dream. Depressing lifestyle of the afore mentioned.

maybe thats what keeps you out of trouble not having ways to break up the monotony of life is a completely false statement its the other way around when adults and kids have activities in place to break up the monotony then bad behaviors go down it explains why the town is rife with people self medicating from lifes drudgery low drudgery equal low drug use

Lived in and around Roseburg for 25 years. Rented a third acre for my 35 foot travel trailer for $600 a month/ Water and sewer was another $130, 11 years ago I moved to Panama, to Ecuador in 2014, to Nicaragua in 2015 and in Costa Rica since 2017 where I rent a 7 bedroom/5 bath house with 4 car garage on 23 acres for $153 a month/ Water/sewer/trash is $6. electricity $12 to $15. Haven't used propane or gasoline in 12 years. Never gets colder than 54F or hotter than 87F. Daytime usually 68 to 75F. Health Insurance is $60 a month for wife and self and pays 100% of everything. Last visited Roseburg in 2016 and sure has gone downhill, very obvious walking around seeing all the hypodermic needles all over. My little town in Costa Rica is just 9000 but has much more than Roseburg. Cost of living about 12% that of Roseburg plus I am US Income Tax Exempt on $107,600 a year. Life Expectancy for men is 7.4 years longer than in the US. At age 65 I am very healthy and active and take no medications, 5 ft 10-1/2 and 166 pounds with a 28 inch waist. BP is 104/55 and resting pulse 56,

Loved Roseburg when I was a kid. I have family there. It’s gorgeous. However. Not unlike Portland it has evolved into an unemployment and drug induced mess down town. It’s extremely unfortunate

The best unknown area is at the top of Rocky Ridge and Rocky Drive. 1 Mile from the middle of the city but feels like you are in the country

No homeless problem here in St. George, Utah. They are not allowed to camp out downtown or in parks. They probably moved on to California or Oregon.

Appreciate your take on the market. What do you see happening in the commercial market? As a side note, I think the shrinking prices are way worse than what the numbers show based on the high inflation we've been experiencing. I know that costs have doubled many things in the last 5 years, including building commercial properties. So scary to think your real estate is decreasing with high inflation.

We moved from Utah to Days Creek 4 years ago and love it. We started our dog training business here which has been really great. Everyone we have encountered has been very kind, even when they have found out we were from “south county” 😂. I love that I can go up to Roseburg and see wonderful shows at UACT or visit great wineries or be to the coast in two hours (vs a 9 hour drive living in Utah and going to say California), and Jackson Street is also pretty cool. Yes, the homeless and drug use are an issue, but I have seen that just as bad in many places.
