I live in the Historic Neighborhood Milpine in a very quant old Victorian and am sad to watch downtown continue a downward decline. SE Roseburg could be so much more but it seems to only get worse. I hope for changes.
I do represent quite a few investors who purchase in that area and have been turning it around 1 house at a time. The city government wants the same and has the whole area classified as an "opportunity zone" which gives favorable tax benefits. But it will take some time before we ever see a full turn around.
Nice job on the videos. I have raised three sons in Douglas County Oregon and have loved living here. The schools did a pretty good job because my nephew went on to Harvard after graduating and now lives in Seattle and has a great career. My sons who moved away also went into good careers and are doing well. Anthony, you do a great job of checking back with your clients. I do appreciate you checking back with me from time to time. Just had a check in from your office the other day. Great Job, very professional and very personable. Enjoying the videos too.
Thanks so much for the kind feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I think the Roseburg area is a great place to grow up. We take our jobs seriously and follow up is a huge part of taking care of our clients. Thanks again for watching, and we are here to help when the time comes! 🙂
Umpqua County Community College. Also known as the College on Harvard. Some good college classes but graduates have to move elsewhere or too over qualifide to use the education. Pay is twice as much in Eugene and 3 times as much in Portland for nurses.
I grew up in Roseburg in the early 1960s and there no homeless at that time. This is a problem created by discharging the mentality Ill from institutions where they received care and housing, into the streets and removing enforcement of laws against drug use. The results were entirely predictable. Now, they want to reduce penalties on crime. Any guesses on how that will turn out?
This would probably be a good idea maybe all the homeless people should rise up against all you normal people and show you what really lies in the streets just remember one thing people we the homeless outnumber all you normal people if we wanted to we could get all the homeless people to come down from Portland and Los Angeles and floods your small little town you think that it won't happen but it's already happened in other parts of Oregon this is getting to a point where the police are harassing and collecting from the homeless people that have no money how do you expect them to pay for their

hope you don't need services unless you have the 'right' insurance. Mental health sucks there. Oregon only has money taken from problem gambling and tax on home owners. Doesn't seem remotely fair.
I live here and it is absolutely impossible to get a rental without a 700+ credit score and a very clean credit history. Rentals are hard to even touch. I have been searching for almost a year! Nonetheless finding one that accepts pets. Seems there’s a long of rich people here or poor. No in between! Jobs do not pay much unless you have a trade. Let alone the typical gas pricing. It is beautiful here but very hard to survive. This is why you see people who are homeless everywhere!

Very good video! My son moved to Roseburg (from NY) almost two years ago for a job. Honestly, all but one of the issues (lack of employment) are issues that we have here in NY. Although my son has mentioned the homeless people and the drug issue, he enjoys living in Roseburg. He loves the sense of community and having the ability to buy food that is locally grown. Those are things that this area of NY does not offer.
NY to Roseburg is quite the move! I'm glad he's enjoying it here! There are definitely perks to living in a small town. The sense of community and locally grown food are both pros worth mentioning! Thanks for watching!
As for homeless in a city, it all comes down to the city leaders. The city I live in and those surrounding this city, not far from of downtown LA, the city leaders don’t allow it to happen. You might see a homeless person walking through town, but they don’t stay here and there is not 1 homeless camp or a homeless RV. There’s another city about 5 miles from here that during the pandemic were sympathetic to the homeless and very quickly it got out of control. As of this year, they went back to enforce the rules they relaxed on, and within months the homeless population dropped by 50% and still declining. The majority of homeless don’t want to live by rules or housing that has rules, so in reality there is no helping them, but people continue to enable their lifestyle. Those that accept the rules of housing, get back on their feet within a year, I’ve seen this first hand with 2 different mindsets from homeless. Cities and people that continue to enable a person to stay homeless are the problem. You can give a homeless person that doesn’t want to change, a million dollars, and they will continue to live their no rules lifestyle.
Great video…We have spent the last few months looking for our forever home. We sold our small farm in Jacksonville Oregon, due to the lack of irrigation water, smoke and excessive heat. Although further north (Albany, Philomath, Corvallis ) was closer to our children….the Property tax are terrible, and the traffic is ridiculous as to what it once was, as a kid growing up there. We definitely wanted a more conservative area, and just can’t stand the dramatic and dysfunctional liberal areas , such as Salem,Pdx, or Eugene. We finally found a beautiful home just outside Roseburg, and I can’t say we enjoyed the home shopping and making offers 50k above asking, what a painful process, but atleast it is over now. Thank you again for your video tours ,

Thx for the tip. I must sell our home in Oakland putting it up mid March. Im somewhat dismayed that there are not many rentals. Back in 1998 we 1st moved to Roseburg from Ca. Renting a 3 bedrm 2 bath home, pets allowed for 650.00!! Nice neighborhood, quiet neighborhood. Rarely saw homeless, but drugs were the top crimes in the local newspaper. Went back to Ca in 2003. Retired here in 2017. There are many more homeless just check out the park adjacent to Fred Meyer. Sad . All that being said we do love Douglas County. One complaint that truly is sad. The trash on I-5, exits and parking lots. Back in 1998 we were amazed at how clean Roseburg was, even the on/off ramps looked like well manicured parks. Not so now. I just came across your channel. I lived in and around Roseburg for 25 years. I was employed and my income obtained elsewhere. I lived in RV;s I owned and for 12 years rented a 1/2 acre lot for $450 a month. plus utilities. I now live in Costa Rica where I rent a 7 bed/5 bath house on 23 acres for $153 a month. A town of about 9000. Never colder than 51 F, never been hotter than 87. No homeless, no drugs, no crime. Covid less than 4% the rate of the US and deaths less than 1% This is retirement at its best. On less than $1000 a month (my income much higher) I live very well but along the average of neighbors but travel Internationally 6 to 9 months per year. Last in Roseburg in 2016. All my friends there have left. Some to Mexico, another to Luxembourg.. As of 2016 far worse than when I had lived there. And without a car you only have Greyhounds with one bus per day heading North and another South. Not a place to be without a vehicle. While personally I love Roseburg and am prepared to retire here one day, I may have to consider going to Costa Rica now.. 🤔😂 Thanks for your insight and sharing your experience!
@khamGroup Well a couple added perks is men have a 7.2 year longer life expectancy than in the US. Plus by being out of the US 335 days or more per calendar year you get a $107,300 US Income Tax Exemption. That sound even more convincing?. Just avoid living in places like Jaco Beach, Tamarindo and Escazu where it's mainly Americans and property costs and rent are around 5 times higher as it is almost all Americans. 3/2 house will be under $200 a month renting from a Tico.
I’ve moved to roseburg Oregon maybe a year back, it’s not that bad of a place most of the neighbors are friendly in Green and the most I do around here is just shop at Walmart and thrift shops. Not that bad of a place
I think roseburg needs a legit arcade. Like round 1 in eugene. It turns to more of a teen thing after 9pm a believe with blacklight bowling and stuff. But i think theres enough kids around here that it would be awesome. Also need some good batting cages. My kids played cal ripken and there were SO MANY teams. I think roseburg is missing out on a huge opportunity here.
25,000 or less population doesn’t sound bad, IF…. you’re close enough to a bigger town that it’s easy to get to. About how long does it take to get to a bigger city with hospitals and such?
Im looking to move to Roseburg from southern Arizona and my only concern is finding a job in the $15-$20 hr range.. Im currently the production supervisor in a prehung entryway fabrication shop (stan greer millworks) specializing in windows and doors.. i have 11 employees.. just wondering whats available in the area.. im going to take a trip up to visit soon and take a closer look.. i was born in canyonville in 1983... I think i wanna go home
Maybe a stupid question, but I'm wanting to move somewhere quiet, where I don't have neighbors blasting music in their backyards all day, or parties around me on the weekends. Is that an issue here?
Most sources say we average less than an inch of snow per year. The valley is at about 500 ft elevation, so as long as you don't live on top of a mountain you likely won't have to deal with much snow. When we do get snow it's usually at night, and then it only stick around for part of the following day. The mountains surrounding town always end up being snow capped.
I live in Solano County, and the traffic is horrible. I went to take my real estate exam in Sacramento today, on a Saturday, and it was a nigtmare to go home at 11:30am, literally 5 different freeways in a boondoggle of a so called freeway system. I think Roseburg doesn't have that issue.
If you Google "crime rate Roseburg Oregon" the results may surprise you. Some of the statistics place Roseburg at the top 5% for crime. Yes, Roseburg is a "Very high crime" community. Does the term 'retirement' include people on parole?
Myrtle Creek and what we call “South County” which would include the southern part of Douglas County… Myrtle Creek, Riddle, Canyonville, etc. gets mixed reviews. They are smaller towns that you’re more likely to see run down homes and that sort of thing. But there are many nice neighborhoods all over South County, prices are a bit cheaper than Roseburg and you can get yourself a few acres at a lot more reasonable of price.
Sheltering in place allows them to camp right on the sidewalks, making it impossible for disabled or elderly people to get around. But Roseburg has always been extremely conservative, so they have less per-capita.
One big con for alot of young folks os the Wellspring church. Think of them like the local Westboro Baptist Church. Protesting anything with a hint of progression
Oh I remember when I was in Eugene they called Douglas county, the dirty south of Oregon and it's really is especially Roseburg especially especially Roseburg is f****** purgatory
Yes. I can tell you love your town. I cannot be mad at you. You have not convinced anyone to avoid this place. This might as well been a pro/con vid. The cons are buried in the love.
There's plenty of good things to talk about, plenty of bad things too. Just like with any city I'm sure! There's honestly a lot more to do here than I ever realized growing up here. Get yourself a kayak or an ATV and you'll have plenty to do! Mostly outdoor hobbies.
Definitely a complicated issue. I believe they designated an area where people can camp on the other side of town, because Stewart Park doesn't look nearly as bad as it did when we made this video. It was definitely getting out of control.
How about a house instead? You really think their own park is a better idea than housing them? There, but for the grace of God, go you. An accident, a debt, a loss of income, whatever. That could be you. No one is safe.
Nice to visit. Don’t live here. Homeless is hugely in need of help. There’s homes to rent but their criteria and amount of rent they are charging is horrendous out of range from employment available. There’s only 10 beds available for mental health and 10 beds for detox. For the entire city.
Only 2 decent restaurants! Dinos Italian is excellent! There’s outdoor activities while it’s not freezing or raining. It’s small and everyone knows everything everyone. The hospital is loosing their MDs and RNs. Many things wrong here.
Thanks for this video. I moved here from NY around 3 yrs ago and have been lucky enough to rent for under $800/month. The homeless will always be a concern, but there are some really good service organizations here (churches, Salvation Army, Roseburg Mission) that I support. Good to see new businesses coming here. Overall, yea it's a smaller city so not as much as say Eugene, but then again less homeless too. 6 in one, half-dozen in the other.
One of my buddies is a pharmacist that travels here for work (he lives about 2 hours out of Roseburg) because of the large bonuses and pay structure. Seems like it’s a pretty good gig!
Appreciate your channel being a SoOregon resident for 30 years, and knowing the region intimately because of the job I used to have, now retired. Indeed, Kate and Tina have RUINED Oregon. Due to the VA being on Garden Valley Blvd, the vagrancy problem and drug problems are significant. BUT, I love the back areas of the Roseburg area in general....e.g. Melrose, Melqua, Cleveland Hill, and Glide areas. Note: stay AWAY from the Green district.
Roseburg is a small town with everything you need - movie theaters, Costco, Walmart, Sherms, Fred Meyer, Marshalls, Hotels, Home Depot, VA Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, Safeway, Albertsons, Big Lots, the burgers chains, Taco Bell, lots of pizza places, Umpqua Community College, the graffiti weekend, the Half Shell shows, bowling alley, our beautiful rivers, scenic vineyards, the beautiful weather, the No traffic situation…and the beautiful people of Roseburg! The dump is up towards Glide.
I’ve moved to roseburg Oregon maybe a year back, it’s not that bad of a place most of the neighbors are friendly in Green and the most I do around here is just shop at Walmart and thrift shops.
Not that bad of a place
Glad you’re enjoying it here. Welcome to Roseburg!
Class of 95' and Roseburg was a great little city.
Roseburg High Class of 97
I think roseburg needs a legit arcade.
Used to have 2 arcades and 2-3 batting cages not that long ago, I was like 10-14 at the time and I’m only 21 now. I miss the mall
@@swaggerjack2074 I grieve the mall too.
There was an arcade that opened up by Southgate market, I didn't learn about it until the week after it closed.
Though we do have an escape and rage room in Sutherlin! Just not in my meager budget to try it out.
I was not expecting to see my home town on UA-cam today.
Nailed it!
Does it snow in Roseburg??
Not a lot but the Burg does get snow a few times a year. One to four inches but never stays long.
Hi Anthony, I'm thinking of moving to Roseburg with my half black son. I've heard there's some prejudice. How true is this?
I live in Solano County, and the traffic is horrible. I went to take my real estate exam in Sacramento today, on a Saturday, and it was a nigtmare to go home at 11:30am, literally 5 different freeways in a boondoggle of a so called freeway system. I think Roseburg doesn't have that issue.
Roseburg definitely doesn't have that issue. Haha! Did you pass the test? 🤞
@@TheBeckhamGroup Didn't pass the test. Got 68 percent. Will retake next month.
The mall used to be the hangout spot but not sense they gutted it.
Homelessness is a problem everywhere these days due to the real estate robber barons( zillow, etc.)
Interesting point 🤔
😊
Has the homeless situation changed much since this video was made?
If you Google "crime rate Roseburg Oregon" the results may surprise you. Some of the statistics place Roseburg at the top 5% for crime. Yes, Roseburg is a "Very high crime" community. Does the term 'retirement' include people on parole?
Is myrtle creek a good place to live
Myrtle Creek and what we call “South County” which would include the southern part of Douglas County… Myrtle Creek, Riddle, Canyonville, etc. gets mixed reviews. They are smaller towns that you’re more likely to see run down homes and that sort of thing. But there are many nice neighborhoods all over South County, prices are a bit cheaper than Roseburg and you can get yourself a few acres at a lot more reasonable of price.
Ok good because we were looking to move there and get 2 to 4 acres
Roseburg Oregon is the closest city that has a hospital. But sadly none in its nextdoor neighbor, Sutherlin Oregon :(
There is an urgent care that is currently being built in Sutherlin. A step in the right direction!
Are they the one's that always protest with the big poster boards on the corner of Garden Vally / Stewart Parkway?
How about things not to move to my town .6500 pop.nothing to do very boring.to.
There are more unsatisfactory situations in other towns.
I agree!
If you like the Uni-party move to Douglas co.
Oh I remember when I was in Eugene they called Douglas county, the dirty south of Oregon and it's really is especially Roseburg especially especially Roseburg is f****** purgatory
there are a lot more reasons than that but will let that go
I live in roseburg oregon
Yeah I don't think it should be legal to charge over $600 for rent.
Yes. I can tell you love your town. I cannot be mad at you. You have not convinced anyone to avoid this place. This might as well been a pro/con vid. The cons are buried in the love.
I appreciate the comment! :)
No homeless problem here in St. George, Utah. They are not allowed to camp out downtown or in parks. They probably moved on to California or Oregon.
I grew up in roseburg, never heard anyone talk positively about the place until I found this channel. Lol
There's plenty of good things to talk about, plenty of bad things too. Just like with any city I'm sure! There's honestly a lot more to do here than I ever realized growing up here. Get yourself a kayak or an ATV and you'll have plenty to do! Mostly outdoor hobbies.
@@TheBeckhamGroup this is a cute video, but 90% of people in Roseburg can't afford to rent anything lol
Homeless should have their own park, not be allowed to loiter in parks that people cannot enjoy because of them.
Many truckers will retire like that- not all.
Roseburg is a community of senior citizens, and loggers
Seniors and mill workers. I can agree with that!
So I saw large sign on bonus for pharmacist jobs. What is going on? Yall need pharmacists?
Note: stay AWAY from the Green district.
i go to fremont and got beat up casue i stnichd on some one
LOL! Love that you walked past a house with a "Let's Go Brandon" flag waving.
No shortage of people on either side of the political spectrum around here.
Pro: best skatepark in Oregon.
I spent a good amount of time there as a teenager!
flash forward and roseburg is where drones vs bums is filmed
😂😂 That’s our second channel.

Thanks for being from here you didn’t invite them all
I live in Roseburg Oregon and it is awesome!! Its great for families and and it is beautiful You can fish camp and it goes on and on.
100%! Nothing better than that! 🏕️🎣
Hiii from colombia nice video
Hey, thanks!
Video blogger you’re missing lots of points!
Agreed! I've made individual videos on many of the subjects you mentioned. Feel free to check them out!
Don't forget RedBarn lmao
Meth is a big thing in roseburg. There's a darkness there that people don't realize is there
I remember documentaries years ago calling Portland Oregon the "Meth capital of the world". I don't know how true that statement was, but I know that it seems to be a problem everywhere nowadays. Very sad.
I know the townhasbad MOJO feelings for me I always said must be something in the water
Lived in felony flats 41yeard
Years
@@sherry2806 I agree 100% I lived there for exactly one year from 2015-2016 and moved back home. When I got off the greyhound to meet my friend I just got a weird feeling. After dark It got even weirder. This town opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn’t want to believe
I live in North Idaho. No, there isn't homeless anywhere you go.
Too cold to be homeless up there I’m sure. They probably hitchhike their way south 😂 But in every mild climate I’ve ever visited, yes, homeless people exist.
Roseburg is a great town it's Portland Eugene and them dead are the places you don't want to live roseburg's better than them and that's coming from somebody who knows the history of Roseburg study your history boy
I love roseburg so much im only 16 but born here and plan on living here for the rest of my life🤟🏻
I feel the same way!
Kate Brown🙄 Jerry Browns daughter GREAT CALIFORNIA FUGGIN UP CALIFORNIA
This video makes me hate my home town even more
I was thinking about moving there but I heard it’s filled with trump supporters. Is that true?
Well hate to be caught in the middle all of that 😅💯🇺🇲🙏💕. And no matter what help our veterans that need a friend.🐕🦺 Roseburg Oregon STRONG MAN 👞♂️🥰 PUKE CIVILIAN OUT. 432 hurts. Lol 😂
Not really
When all she talked about is negativity instead of putting some positive in it it's not good for you to be talking about Roseburg
I still loved Roseburg! There’s no such thing as a perfect town.
I would have to say we're a pretty cool little town. The pros outweigh the cons without a doubt. I plan on retiring here myself! 🌲
A true shit hole. I moved to Montana. And love it. Way better all around
Montana is beautiful! I’ve travelled the whole state from west to east and then back again times over when I worked on the oil rigs of Williston North Dakota for a summer (and still lived in Roseburg, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off). But man, those Montana winters. That would be a deal breaker for me to live there.
Arizona for me, we actually have sunshine down here......... sometimes a little too much but still beats the rain lol
8:10 the flag in the background should give you a clear indication of the politics of the city. Go Brandon!!!
crime rate and druggies
It’s not much of a crime compared to Chicago, New York, Los Angeles or Portland! What are you talking about?
You've definitely got a point!
@@brave9801 well yeah, when you compare it to high crime cities, with much, much larger populations, it’s gonna seem like the greatest place.
It used to be a logging town but the liberals fixed all of that
Was that a let’s go Brandon flag in the background, I think I like this place 😂
The people of Oregon, call Roseburg," Rosetucky", for a reason.
What does this mean?
It means that its a bit like the hills of Kentucky and the people that live there are a bit Hillbilly. Not all, but most.@@1RoseLia1
Roseburg is a lot better than Portland
No doubt about that!
@@TheBeckhamGroup I born in Roseburg for long time and went to deaf school in Salem I traveled to my family and now I feel that Roseburg is not for deaf community live there, it used to be 300 deaf family and single lived in douglas.
