My daughter Charlotte absolutely loves your snake videos. She has taken her plastic snakes and put them in tuppaware and covers them with playdoh to burrow. Her favourite game is to play snake diacovery. She asked me to buy her racking for them.... you have created a love of reptiles in her your 4 year old mind and j think its fantastic. She asks for a pet snake all the time now.... one day my little one, one day.
I hope you guys feel proud about how good your enclosures are at the zoo, the animals are so happy they're having babies out of normal season, that is huge.

And Woot baby hype! I have no idea what’s in the incubator but I’m definitely excited to find out.
I’m guessing that they have fat-tailed geckos in the incubator. Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate everything that Emily and Ed do for us!? They are such amazing people!
I was feeling disappointed about having to wait so long till the possibility of eggs and snake babies.. Suddenly the snakes had other plans for us all and gave us a late Christmas gift of adorable little baby snakes :D
This was such perfect timing. I had just finished my online college classes and this was interesting. So cute babies. Emily and Ed:talk about how they don't have much time. Emily and Ed: then keep getting distracted by stuff. I love how some of the babies love to just try to tie themselves together to look like a hydra dragon or something. Well, we know Emily won that. So many cute babies
AWWW!! They’re all so cute, it reminds me of in the summer we caught a baby garters snake. We named her little sas because she bit us 3 or 4 times. It’s pretty weird that your baby garters were born in the winter.
I love seeing the salamanders, I used to have one named gilly we got her from a bait shop and raised her to adult hood. She got sick around February 2020 and sadly passed away, we miss her dearly but I’m glad we had her

I don't know how long it's been since you filmed this but I assume that you have gone through the garter enclosure after everyone left that day and took the whole thing apart so you can be positive you got all the babies out
It’s so cool seeing babies born in the zoo, especially garters which have live babies you can see scurrying about in a natural environment. I think it’d be so cool if one of these babies got held back for a breeding project with their erythristic snakes to see what kinda colours they’d get 😁
well they knew they put both male and female animals into the same enclosures, and even though it's kinda off season for this the reptiles are happy to act
Hi! I’m from Australia.. does Wisconsin allow Centralian Carpet Pythons? They are native to Australia and I might consider sending mine to you as I sadly don’t have time for her anymore. She may be a little aggressive as we haven’t handled her in a while. Just a question. Also all the baby garters are so cute 😍
Given that live animals have overnight shipping, I doubt you could safely ship from a different country. Even with the fastest possible shipping, your snake would still have to go through customs and who knows what kinds of delays there could be. However, I'm sure there are people doing similar things in Australia who you could re-home your snake with! I would recommend starting with a local herpetological society and seeing what resources they have
Im not sure about if Wisconsin allows that snake but I do know that Australia forbids reptile exports unless it's accredited zoos "trading" animals, and even then it's a lengthy process
Also make sure that snake discovery is ok with that. Email them maybe? Don’t just send animals without checking that they would have a nice home with a enclosure ready.

I've always wanted a snake, and I've been thinking about getting garter snakes! I don't have access to mice, so is there any way it can live on completely bugs/ meat?
It is not recommended to go completely rodent free with garters but it's totally doable you just have to be careful about what you're feeding them. If you have access to reptilinx (or however TF it's spelled) I would recommend feeding those occasionally because to my understanding they are not cheap but if you can afford them just feed those if you can't afford then like what the other commenter said tilapia, raw chicken, nightcrawlers, earthworms can also work to my understanding at least and there's a couple others that I'm probably forgetting

It would be super fun to see how you guys handle all the babies in real time . You can also stream changing around the bins, or rearanging the habitats etc. or you could use a go pro to stream the feeding or checkups or whatever. But again I know you guys are mad busy with the zoo!

IIRC their entire collection is at the zoo. The only reptiles they have at home are the ones in quarantine.

Wow I have that same exact habitat but in green and for snails/frogs! I really recommend it if your new to getting small reptile!
If it was my zoo, I would just put up a sign that says, "Guess many babies did the garter snakes have." I could do that in like 2 minutes. :)
