Loved Jon Voight's portray of Serone. His attitude was like "I don't see what the big deal is. I just wanna poach an apex predator to sell for a shit ton of profit & I'm willing to murder people to succeed..what's wrong with that?" He was basically one long evil shoulder shrug.
THANK YOU GOODBAD FLICKS!!! Anaconda has been one of my top 10 guilty pleasures since i was a kid. I never understood why it gets so much hate for being ''cheesy'' and ''not scary'' It's a movie where a snake eats Jon Voight. Then spits him out and he winks... not to mention Ice Cube gets beaten up by Jon voight. It's safe to say this movie was not made to be a serious horror flick.
+Lifeduringwartime Honestly, I really hate the term guilty pleasure. It's basically other peoples' way of saying to you 'Yeah your opinion on what's good isn't valid because it's not what we think is good so feel bad for it'. I just hate its negative connotations.
+caleb holland That's not what it means at all. A guilty pleasure is just a film you admit isn't that great, but you yourself still enjoy it despite it's problems. It means you're willing to admit it's flaws, but that doesn't keep you from having fun with it. That's how I feel about this film for example. I think it's a FUN movie.
GoodBadFlicks What exact things about anacondas are complete bullshit? It's dumb to criticize that if you aren't going to elaborate what things are complete bullshit with why exactly which is exactly what you did.
He was awful in Anaconda and was by far the worst thing about it. Yes, Voight can be a great actor when he wants to be, but clearly here he didn't give 2 fucks.
I really liked Anaconda when I first saw it in theaters. Although it has its flaws, it was probably one of the last B-movie creature features with a solid cast to get a theatrical release by a major studio, along with Lake Placid. After that, these movies were all going straight to cable and direct-to-video.
Love these giant creature b-movies... Anaconda, Eight Legged Freaks, and Lake Placid are 3 of my favorites... only thing Lake Placid is missing is Kari Wuhrer.
Hard to beat a good creature feature. Anaconda is just fun, especially John Voight and that accent, and that leer. Love that shot from inside the snake as it swallows him...reminds me of Little Shop of Horrors.
Ice Cube {Ghosts of Mars, Anaconda}, Busta Rhymes {Halloween: Resurrection}, LL Cool J {Deep Blue Sea, Halloween H20} proving that the Black guy isn't guaranteed to die in horror movies! Just so long as he's a famous rapper.
It's getting to the point to where I'm starting to love mid-90's creature movies more and more. I miss movies like Anaconda, Relic, Lake Placid. I mean they were B-Movies but they were fun movies that Hollywood still gave a damn about or at least gave them decent budgets. Now these types of films have been banished to the realm Sci-Fy made for tv movies.
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart, because I never thought I'd get to see a Rifftrax Live in person, but for some reason they did Anaconda in NC, which was only four hours away. They actually filmed my friend and I walking up to the theater, but I have no idea if they used it for anything.
The snakes shriek was one of the best effects of the movie, to me it's sticks with you just like the Predator scream or roar and the sounds the Xenomorphs make...
Anaconda is also a Black History fact. One of the few Horror/thrillers where the black guy not only survives, but also helps save the day (Halloween Resurrection also gets that, as does Deep Blue Sea)
This movie had a lot going for it even though it wasn't exactly the scariest , the cast alone made it super entertaining and the atmosphere and soundtrack were also good, this is actually one of my favorite 90's movies ...everyone in it was in their prime which was cool to see J Lo, Ice Cube , Owen Wilson and Jon Voight was only 59 when it came out so was still an effective villain.
My best friend and I watched this on opening weekend and 20+ years later I STILL remember how much fun we all had. Everyone in the theater was having a blast and laughing along to the bad acting, the bad CGI and the WONDERFULLY over-the-top Jon Voigt! Every time he was on screen it was like Christmas. And we were all disappointed when he got swallowed but it yielded the biggest laugh/cheer when he was regurgitated and winked. That was the mic drop for the whole movie right there.
I really enjoyed Anaconda 2: Hunt for the Blood Orchid, and the crossover Anaconda vs. Lake Placid was so bad it is great! It starred Yancy Butler, who was in Lake Placid 3 and 4, and Robert Englund who was also in 4. They make the movie very fun to watch. Anaconda 3 and 4 were terrible despite Hasslehoff and John Rhys-Davies in 3. They weren't even fun to watch as a B-Movie! I loved Kari Wuhrer from Sliders, which was just before this movie, and saw this primarily because she was in it.
Thank you so much for saying “it’s far from being bad,” I hear way too many people saying that this is only enjoyable as a bad movie or just “so bad it’s good.” I enjoy this movie unironically, and as far as creature feature B-horror goes, I think this movie reaches the gold standard, Razzie nominations be damned. This movie got me obsessed with snakes, and I still have it on VHS (the same tape that we initially rented for me to watch it the first time), but you can bet your ass that the moment I find it on DVD or Blu-Ray, I’m getting it, so I can finally watch my favourite murder noodle movie without having to look through storage for a VCR or wait for it to be available on streaming.
My father in law is in his late 60s and he’s the sweetest man, I’ve come down stairs multiple times and seen him watching “anacondas” we have so many streaming channels but I think this is his fav sprite movie
I watched this movie a ton growing up, usually whenever my grandmother would come over. The odd thing about her joining in was she HATES snakes with relentless passion, but she still chose to sit through it with me. She'd alternate between covering her face during the scenes where the snake kills or staring down the snake with a death glare so vicious it would make chuck norris piss himself before saying:"I'll knock you upside your head, you ugly thing!" Oh granny, you loveable goofball. :)
If you have the time I recommend Lake Placid. It was compared to Anaconda back in the day. Plus it got too many sequels too. P.s. I love reptiles, Especially crocodilians.
I am a from small down in India. When its released in my regional language it was in theaters for 30+ days almost half of the days with houseful collections. After anaconda so many movies followed the same plot and narration. Still i see bad reviews and ratings for this movie. In my opinion its a kind of classic
I agree I liked the movie and still do and the practical effects were the best part they made the snakes look amazing and that's why practical effects are soooooo much better. 😎
My father took we to watch this movie in the theater as my first movie theater experience. I was 5. I was traumatized for a while, but I grew to love this movie.
To be honest, I did not remember any of the casts of Anaconda except the bad guy and I have only seen it once 20 years ago. He did a really memorable villain
I was working as a literary agent around this time and had a meeting with the company that produced it. He told me they knew the script sucked but the whole giant snake thing would be good box office.
Man I love this movie when I was a kid it was just like when The Beast came out. I never thought they would make a movie about a Giant Squid and I was so fascinated with anacondas and big giant animals when I was younger, shit I still am. I had 3 fish tanks in my room, a 5ft Nile Monitor lizard and a Ball Python that was about 3ft. A kid that was wicked into creatures, I grew up with a huge swamp next to my house. Having a movie come out when I was 9yrs old called Anaconda about a giant Anaconda killing people was a Fuckin dream come true for me... The movie really does get bashed too much, I mean shit those practical effects with the snake looked Fuckin awesome and amazing, even the CGI snake was ten times better than the shitty looking all CGI Anacondas in Anacondas Hunt for The Blood Orchid semi sequel, that took place in a country where anacondas don't even exist naturally...
This was a fun movie. Voight does a fine job which does a lot to make this watchable. Since both diesel and gas are lighter than water those barrels would float.
I remember seeing this in theaters back in the day. Everybody I knew wanted to see it. It was entertaining for sure. Thanks for pausing on Lopez's butt!
This movie had one former NWA member and an up-and-coming singer and Lightning McQueen and Danny Trejo always dying but all and all this movie was kind of good sort of. and it also had one oscar-winning actor and the guy from Scooby-Doo doing the voice of the snake lol 🎬📽🎞🤣🤣
I saw that book in Barns and Nobles and wanted to cry. I've been working on a book series since I was 17 and can't get a publisher. But that shit can be put out? Seriously?
Every time I see Jennifer Lopez, I'm reminded of The Cell, and then I feel compelled to watch it again. I know that's off topic, but Christ what a beautiful movie that was.
+grimcity Glad to see I'm not the only one. I'm not a big fan of her as an actress, but I love The Cell, and I absolutely LOVED Anaconda, I was a young teen at the time and got to catch it at the theaters. Jon Voigt's line when he is snake-leg-crushing that girl and calling her "Baby Birdy" was just good times. But as for The Cell, I like both the beauty of it, and the surrealist nature of the narrative. Also, J-Lo wasn't bad at all in it compared to her rom-coms and Gigli's and whatnots.
+blud63 Nah, Jenny and Vince Something were both completely unbelievable as a psychiatrist and a detective. What a bunch of amateurs. But that movie had great visuals.
Serone is by far one of the funniest villains ever, his fuckin mannerisms and lines crack me up every time "Baby Bird" "See this, human bones that's how it comes out" also lake placid vs anaconda is an awesomely cheesy good time its the best in the series since a while now
"Is there piiiiiiigs?":DLove your videos. This and Congo were my favorites as a child. Your voice is so soothing too btw. Hope that didn't sound weird. 0_o
The first sequel, Anacondas: Hunt for the Blood Orchid is the one I honestly think is better. I personally enjoyed watching it and it freaked the mess out of me. The protagonist boat guy was also pretty cool.
This movie is worth seeing just for Voight alone. He's great. I remember reading articles where the cast and producers said the movie was scary and suspenseful, and when viewers laughed at the movie they turned around and said it was supposed to be a parody.
Old white dudes with ponytails was my generation's version of top hat and moustache villian.
Yes that was a very 90s haircut for the powerful villains to wear
One of the best creature movies to come on screen. Wonder if they can make any more like this now?
J Lo is in the movie, this is EXACTLY what Sir Mix a lot was talkin' bout.
You sir know what's up.
Loved Jon Voight's portray of Serone. His attitude was like "I don't see what the big deal is. I just wanna poach an apex predator to sell for a shit ton of profit & I'm willing to murder people to succeed..what's wrong with that?" He was basically one long evil shoulder shrug.
Pretty sure he was channeling a snake through his performance.
THANK YOU GOODBAD FLICKS!!! Anaconda has been one of my top 10 guilty pleasures since i was a kid. I never understood why it gets so much hate for being ''cheesy'' and ''not scary''
It's a movie where a snake eats Jon Voight. Then spits him out and he winks... not to mention Ice Cube gets beaten up by Jon voight. It's safe to say this movie was not made to be a serious horror flick.
+Lifeduringwartime You are welcome!
+Lifeduringwartime Honestly, I really hate the term guilty pleasure. It's basically other peoples' way of saying to you 'Yeah your opinion on what's good isn't valid because it's not what we think is good so feel bad for it'. I just hate its negative connotations.

What do you mean not scary? Ice Cube is one hella scary dude :P
GoodBadFlicks What exact things about anacondas are complete bullshit?
It's dumb to criticize that if you aren't going to elaborate what things are complete bullshit with why exactly which is exactly what you did.
Jon Voight is a superb actor, I've never seen a bad performance from him.
Did you watch anaconda or even the TV movie Noah? 🤔
True great actor, horrible human being.
He was awful in Anaconda and was by far the worst thing about it. Yes, Voight can be a great actor when he wants to be, but clearly here he didn't give 2 fucks.
I agree with you there, but I think we can all admit his performance as Serone was way over the top!
The first Anaconda movie, is the best of the series.
Exactly
The 04 was awesome
No one spots mics in the shot like this guy.
I unironically love everything Ice Cube has acted in
I remember watching behind the scenes as a kid on TV and just the image of giant Anaconda terrified me.
"Serone even sleeps evil" - best line
I really liked Anaconda when I first saw it in theaters. Although it has its flaws, it was probably one of the last B-movie creature features with a solid cast to get a theatrical release by a major studio, along with Lake Placid. After that, these movies were all going straight to cable and direct-to-video.
The first sequel made it to theaters, too, but none in the series after that, and I think that was for the best…

Just so long as he's a famous rapper.
wich means you're not 'black', but rather 'green'....
Jon Voight did the best constipated Marlon Brando impression ever!
It's getting to the point to where I'm starting to love mid-90's creature movies more and more. I miss movies like Anaconda, Relic, Lake Placid. I mean they were B-Movies but they were fun movies that Hollywood still gave a damn about or at least gave them decent budgets. John Voit was awesome in this movie.
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart, because I never thought I'd get to see a Rifftrax Live in person, but for some reason they did Anaconda in NC, which was only four hours away. They actually filmed my friend and I walking up to the theater, but I have no idea if they used it for anything.
A movie that's decently watchable on its own but made essential viewing with Rifftrax.
Agree. One of the good b movies of the 90s
It didn't felt like a B movie man.
For the longest time I had no idea the dude at the beginning was Danny Trejo
The snakes shriek was one of the best effects of the movie, to me it's sticks with you just like the Predator scream or roar and the sounds the Xenomorphs make...
Any movie that has a giant snake spitting a monkey at Ice Cube is cinema gold in my book.
5 years later & that Stephanie Meyers joke is still gold
Anaconda is also a Black History fact. One of the few Horror/thrillers where the black guy not only survives, but also helps save the day (Halloween Resurrection also gets that, as does Deep Blue Sea)
darkservantofheaven
Also House on Haunted Hill remake
This movie had a lot going for it even though it wasn't exactly the scariest , the cast alone made it super entertaining and the atmosphere and soundtrack were also good, this is actually one of my favorite 90's movies ...everyone in it was in their prime which was cool to see J Lo, Ice Cube , Owen Wilson and Jon Voight was only 59 when it came out so was still an effective villain.
'There's pigs out der dis biiiiiiiiiiiiig?!'
I cackled at that man!
It should have ended with Ice Cube and the snake releasing diss tracks, then reconciling before the snake died. Wait, has that already been done? :-D
"There's Pigs out there this Big", lmao. I could so see Ice saying that
Kari Wuhrer "Baby Bird" was adorable in this.
Reg Hunt Bebe Buurd
I really enjoyed Anaconda 2: Hunt for the Blood Orchid, and the crossover Anaconda vs. Lake Placid was so bad it is great! I am the captain now.
GAWD, Jennifer Lopez was HAWT at the time!
That other bitch in the movie is alot hotter.
@Scion of Madness Agreed. Denise was so much hotter than J-Lo's character.
Both Jlo and Kari were extremely hot back then. Only negative was Kari had some skank tats. I'll never ever understand hot women and why they tat up.
So, was Kerrry Wuenner.
Who was her boyfriend? I was confused lol
My father in law is in his late 60s and he’s the sweetest man, I’ve come down stairs multiple times and seen him watching “anacondas” we have so many streaming channels but I think this is his fav sprite movie

"There's snakes out there this big?" Me: Yes, Cube! That's why you're in this movie right now, man! 😆
Love this film :)
Lol he doesn't like hip-hop? Damn
came for the Sir mix-a-lot reference and was not disappointed.
I aim to please
If you have the time I recommend Lake Placid. It was compared to Anaconda back in the day. Plus it got too many sequels too.
P.s. I love reptiles, Especially crocodilians.
Crocodillus too
I just, just located a copy of this film with the Rifftrax commentary and it is hilarious. One of their best.
i like the hunt for the blood orchid for some reason LOL
Saw this one. The fact that it was about a giant snake was enough to make me see it. I actually love snakes.
stlouisrocker100 same!
I am a from small down in India. When its released in my regional language it was in theaters for 30+ days almost half of the days with houseful collections. After anaconda so many movies followed the same plot and narration. Still i see bad reviews and ratings for this movie. In my opinion its a kind of classic
I watched this film constantly with my mother as a child, and I still love it today. And congrats on getting 50K Subscribers!!!
Oh man, its been...well since 97` since I last saw Anaconda, but Jon Voight`s performance is etched into my mind to this very day!
This the first movie that heightens my fear of snakes but was a great movie overall to binge on a boring saturday afternoon I watch with my dad.
That Kari Wuhrer is purdy. I'll come back and make some kind of joke about my trouser snake when I've thought of something suitably clever.
Saw this in the 90s, I remember thinking I would freaking hate this. But I definitely liked it, definitely a guilty pleasure.
very enjoyable 90s horror creature feature!!
To be honest, I did not remember any of the casts of Anaconda except the bad guy and I have only seen it once 20 years ago.
He did a really memorable villain
This movie and Lake Placid are good standards for Creature Features!
I was working as a literary agent around this time and had a meeting with the company that produced it. He told me they knew the script sucked but the whole giant snake thing would be good box office.
Great review Cecil! Always fun watching these reviews.
+kane carlson Thanks!
The effects were a little loose, but I love this movie. My parents got it from a dvd club and I must have watched it 50 times.
has ice cube in it so it gets a thumbs up from me
Man I love this movie when I was a kid it was just like when The Beast came out. I never thought they would make a movie about a Giant Squid and I was so fascinated with anacondas and big giant animals when I was younger, shit I still am. john voight carried this movie
Anaconda with a jet pack! Bahahaha I love it.
I saw this movie in the classic outdoor pull up theater. I love this movie no matter what. It’s so bad it’s great ;)
Who says this is bad? This is an awesome movie.
I loved Jon Voights upside down smile and wondered if his mouth got sore.
I saw this in its original release....and the Rifftrax version...I liked both.
Leave Owen Wilson alone, you monster. He's been through enough already
This was a fun movie. Voight does a fine job which does a lot to make this watchable.
Since both diesel and gas are lighter than water those barrels would float.
Mateo, the boat driver, had a tiny but awesome role in Mulholland Drive as a sleazy private detective.
4:17 you should have said "I'm da captain now."
I actually saw the Rifftrax Live of this film and I absolutely loved it. It was a lot of fun.
I like this movie. I watched it a lot as a kid so its nostalgic i guess
Whats with the Ice Cube and Owen Wilson hate.
+Jeffrey McConnell He just doesn't like their work, is that so hard to get? You must have actors you just don't like.
+Paul Dennett Of course, I was being cheeky
+Jeffrey McConnell "Actors" like these two guys always use their own voices and never change their looks for their roles. They aren't even trying.
The only role where I liked Ice Cube was him as the angry chief in the Jump Street movies. Even Wes Anderson can't make me fond of Owen Wilson.
2:18 hahahaha this has to be my favorite review of yours, I always come back and watch it!
I remember seeing this in theaters back in the day. Everybody I knew wanted to see it. It was entertaining for sure. Thanks for pausing on Lopez's butt!
I'm sure Lopez found the elixir of youth in the Amazon and kept it for herself.
Two minutes into this video and I was already laughing.
Well played.
I really liked this movie when it came out, haven't seen it in years but it was a solid film at the time.
Jon Voight brought gravitas to this B-movie featuring musician turned actors.
This channel deserves to blow up👍
Thanks!
Man, I loved that movie, it's one of my favorite horror movies!
I will never get enough of hearing about this movie. It's incredible, lol
Awesome movie! Simple, ludicrous, great cast, over the top - brilliant fun!
Its as like a slight nod to Creature from the black lagoon with the obstacle blocking their boat etc.
This is my ultimate phobia! Snake phobia, which I actually have
i know its a random older video to say this one, but i love this channel a billion zillion times more than "everything wrong w..."
Thank you!
Very good review. I have fond memories watching this movie with one of my best friends back in the late 90s.
The line of the film is actually " 'til all your veins 'splode." I still say it to this day.
Wait Twilight isn't over yet? Man why do you have to tell me about that, my life was significantly better not knowing that fact
I saw that book in Barns and Nobles and wanted to cry. I've been working on a book series since I was 17 and can't get a publisher. But that shit can be put out? Seriously?
@@oddeyes9413 no one cares about ur trash sonic fanfic
Nice to see Jen's ORIGINAL NOSE again. LOL
I remember loving this movie
I remember seeing this in theaters and enjoying myself.
The low ponytail was a trademark of movie villains from the mid 80's to early 90's.
Never trust a man with a low ponytail.
Every time I see Jennifer Lopez, I'm reminded of The Cell, and then I feel compelled to watch it again. I know that's off topic, but Christ what a beautiful movie that was.
+grimcity Glad to see I'm not the only one. +blud63 Nah, Jenny and Vince Something were both completely unbelievable as a psychiatrist and a detective. What a bunch of amateurs. But that movie had great visuals.
The Cell is a great movie, it's a visual orgasm.
Every time I see Jennifer Lopez, I cum.
TheGameRage1 "AAAAAHHH!!!!!"
+liz noir Thanks! lol not at all. I usually get either soothing or Patrick Bateman.
I still remember watching this in VHS
The first sequel, Anacondas: Hunt for the Blood Orchid is the one I honestly think is better. I personally enjoyed watching it and it freaked the mess out of me. The protagonist boat guy was also pretty cool.
This movie is worth seeing just for Voight alone. He's great.
I remember reading articles where the cast and producers said the movie was scary and suspenseful, and when viewers laughed at the movie they turned around and said it was supposed to be a parody.
LOL it kind of looks like he was giving the finger in that one scene
