I loved Larry Drake in this movie and Dark Night Of The Scarecrow.I think American Pie took their sexy flute bit from the scene with the saxophone. If Giggles is a scary homicidal doctor, imagine what he'd be like as a legally licensed one. He'd have people waiting longer than they typically do in waiting rooms filling even more useless paperwork.
I loved this movie as a kid and I just found out from the comments that Larry Drake passed away. I'm so saddened by that. I was terrified of him as a youngster thanks to him as Dr Giggles and the villian in Darkman. R.i.p Larry Drake :(
I can't Remember who he played but i had heard he was in the original johnny bravo cartoon cartoon short too. Talented guy. Especially here funny yet terrifying
It was cool. Definitely a movie that benefits watching in a group. Larry Drake owns. I'd really enjoy him playing some more bad guys he is so darn good at it.
Watched it on UA-cam still a good after all these years I never knew Larry Drake passed away till a few years later he deserves some recognition great actor on the screen and from what I hear stage too RIP Larry
Its one of the reasons i dont think we get many good western anymore Not many male actors that can truly capture the "rough and weathered" persona of the old guys Bone tomahawk was fantastic but that was a while ago and before that may be apaloosa or the true grit remake (i don't remember which came first)
Lee Penrose I’m in med school and in the neurology block right now. The school saved the brains from our anatomy class last year so we can study them during this block...they’re all in a bucket; just a bucket of brains. It’s...bizarre.
They were both advertised as straight horror, so I don't blame the reviewers. Dr. Giggles has silly one-liners in the trailer, but this was also right after Terminator 2 came out, and one-liners were everywhere.
This is a great horror-comedy. I most remember Larry Drake's role of Benny on L.A. Law. After seeing him in Darkman as Durant (a similar character to Dr. Giggles), which is also an excellent movie, I became a fan of his. Great review! This movie is perfect because of Larry Drake. I loved the one-liners and doctor jokes. The gore makes me squeamish and this movie also plays to my own fears of doctors and hospitals. If it weren't for the humor, I probably wouldn't ever watch it again because I'd find it too disturbing. Great cast all around, even in the smaller roles like Doug E. Doug, Cliff De Young and Richard Bradford.
Glad to find other people who really enjoyed this movie as well. What made it better, is the lack of trying to build a movie series. It was one complete story without some cut at the end showing him not to be dead.
I remember sneaking out of bed to watch this on tv when I was like 7 or 8 years old. Up until I saw this video I never knew what it was called. I'm definitely going to watch it again! Thank you!
I'll admit this scared me as a kid back when it came out in the early 90s. I still enjoy it but of course I now understand the humor. :) It's sad this film is almost forgotten.
I saw this movie early own as a child, I began to laugh like Dr. Giggles, in fact my laughter became infectious to the point people kept trying to make me laugh so they could laugh. As I grew up I grew away from it, though I still do it sometimes to freak people out who don't know me.
Thank you! Robocop is one of my all time favorite movies. Its in my top 10. I'd like to do it but I don't know if I could even goof on it. Its too good.
Dude! How could you leave out the actor who played Max? He found success on "Angel" and "Roseanne" before tragically passing away way too early. His character's departure from "Angel" is practically everyone's favorite episode. Proved so popular that the episode (Hero) is one of the only ones fans know by name. *RIP* Glenn Quinn.
This one time at band camp…where was her 2 sisters Paige and Phoebe (or maybe Prue)? I’m surprised there was no mention of Glenn Quinn (Max) who passed away in 02. Best known for Roseanne and Angel.
I was working at the Sears in Washington Square mall in Tigard Oregon when this movie was being filmed and sold them the green paint that was painted on the walls in the " Doctors Office " scenes. They filmed them at a closed Doctors office some where in Beaverton.
The actor that played Dr Giggles totally owned that role. Hugely underrated imo. I didnt even realize the body count was that high either. Gotta watch this movie again.
I saw this heavily cut in the late 90's, only saw the uncensored version a few months ago, now i really want it on dvd. The humour is sick, the characters are fun, especially the doc and the gore is plenty, the 90's might have not been the best decade for horror but there where sure some awesome pearls.
This is an older episode that I couldn't post before because of a copyright strike. YT wouldn't let me post any videos over 15 minutes for 8 months. They lifted the time limit and now I can post some older episodes that were over the limit. So expect to see a few more here in the next few days. Newer episodes will have the shorter intro.
Freaking awesome. I remember my mom had it on VHS. I used to sneak in to her room and pick out a few. "Zombie hotel", "Hellraiser 3" and "Dr Giggles" are what i remember as the first horror movies i took out from her closet. To this day i enjoy this movie. I loved Holly since "Charmed". Larry Drake is always awesome(really loved him in "Darkman"). Glenn Quinn(RIP) i absolutely adore. Been following him since he was in "Roseanne". Would love it, if you'd review "Campfire tales".
This is by far one of my favorite horror comedies the actor was perfect . And look Piper. Where's her sisters you know with the power of three he would have been defeated much more quickly.
Oh man, how did I completely forget about this movie!? The fact that I have most of these movies on VHS, and haven't got them on DVD yet, means I have boxes of VHS tapes in storage with titles I have quickly forgotten until I see videos like this and slap my forehead.
Great review on one of my all time fave slashers..Larry Drake is fantastic. And the film is loads of fun. I love it so much I not only own it on DVD, but on Laserdisc, and VHS. I also have the comic book by Dark Horse..
Awesome Thanks! You should be able to find the movie cheap. I've seen it in the bargin bin at Walmart. Superman 3? I think I can do that. It might be a while (probably sometime next year) but that sounds like it would be fun.
I feel this is one of the best horror films of its time, and it was sorely needed it that era due to the genre going through a dry spell. Props for this review mentioning "Dexter", which is one of my favorite shows of all time (Miami Vice" and "Batman: The Animated Series" round out the top three, with "The Simpsons" not far behind).
You aren't going crazy. I did do this back in march but due to YT restrictions (it was over 15 minutes) I couldn't post it here. They have since reset my account so I can post videos here over 15 minutes. So all the ones I've done since March that were over 15 minutes long I'll be able to finally cross post them here. So you'll probably see a few you've already seen pop up here in the next few days,
OH MY GOD! I remember seeing an ad for this movie in one of my oooolllddd wolverine comics!!!! I never saw the movie cause I was way too young, but this review maes me want to see it now. It looks just too fucking good!
I'm not a fan of slasher flicks, but this looks awesome! Love Larry Drake; he's never less than watchable and in this it looks like he's finally been given something he can sink his teeth into. And the jokes are worthy of Forry Ackerman.
"Jennifer escapes by falling down repeatedly." 10:00 I thought horror movie directors had figured out how lame that is, but I just watched TCM 3D because GoodBadFlick recommended it and Daddario can't run 5' without falling down...
I love this film I saw it first back in 2014 or 2015 can't remember cuz I liked it so much I've watched it alot more times sense then and Larry drake died back in 2016 sadly he was a great actor and my favorite role of his would be pops from johnny bravo

Larry Drake is the whole reason I LOVE that movie, he's just so perfect in the role. Goddammit! Now I gotta look through my box of VHS for it.
He is the best! So underused.
Damn straight.
He was awesome in Darkman too
And *Holly Marie Combs* for me 😍
I can't Remember who he played but i had heard he was in the original johnny bravo cartoon cartoon short too. Talented guy. Especially here funny yet terrifying
"I think the sax just came."
There goes my tea. xD
***** heheheh :)
but seriously, that was a bit of a head turner. Never thought giving a sax head would do that.
😂😂😂😂
RIP Larry Drake. This movie would've been worthless without him.
I remember Larry Drake in LA Law. And Dark Man.
RIP A GREAT character actor, a true pro!
I remember Larry Drake as Pops in Johnny Bravo, one of the best characters in that show
The best thing about this movie was Dr. Giggles's one-liners. Lol
Brian Simmons definitely
+GoodBadFlicks Just from watching this review. My favorite is. "Have a heart!"
"Terminal". It's a one worder so to speak and it's brilliant.
If you think this hurts, wait until you get your bill.
@@wasylwasylson7349 I say that each time I see a millennial hypnotized by their I phone LOL
It was cool. Definitely a movie that benefits watching in a group.
Larry Drake owns. I'd really enjoy him playing some more bad guys he is so darn good at it.
ROBERT G DURANT
Watched it on UA-cam still a good after all these years I never knew Larry Drake passed away till a few years later he deserves some recognition great actor on the screen and from what I hear stage too RIP Larry
The mid 90s was such a great time for good bad horror movies. This and Wishmaster are two of my faves from that time
+Mike Mitchell I loved the first Wishmaster! Great movie. Also the first Warlock film with Julian Sands
I just randomly watched Warlock yesterday. STill a fun romp
+Mike Mitchell
Indeed. Not a fan of the sequels, but Payne wasn't terrible as Sands replacement for the baddie.
Yep
Seriously. While I think we have some good actors now it is definitely a dying art. We don't have guys of this level much anymore.
Its one of the reasons i dont think we get many good western anymore
Not many male actors that can truly capture the "rough and weathered" persona of the old guys
Bone tomahawk was fantastic but that was a while ago and before that may be apaloosa or the true grit remake (i don't remember which came first)
A crossover between Dr.Giggles and Herbert West would be awesome.
herbert west would be so insulted by that suggestion
"...I'll just choose a heart out of my heart bucket.."
Lee Penrose I’m in med school and in the neurology block right now. The school saved the brains from our anatomy class last year so we can study them during this block...they’re all in a bucket; just a bucket of brains. It’s...bizarre.
so he basically killed people for shits and giggles?
Touche
@Jumpy Cat Or shoots and tickles.
That Mirror scene is impressive, It comes out of nowhere and every second of it is so damn good.
Every single review from the time of this movie didn't seem to realize that this was a comedy-horror. Alongside this and Leprechaun, wtf?
They were both advertised as straight horror, so I don't blame the reviewers. Dr. Giggles has silly one-liners in the trailer, but this was also right after Terminator 2 came out, and one-liners were everywhere.
Fwiw, horror-comedy wasn't the recognized genre that it was back then. Easy to see it now, but back then it was really a thing yet
This is a great horror-comedy. I most remember Larry Drake's role of Benny on L.A. Law. After seeing him in Darkman as Durant (a similar character to Dr. Giggles), which is also an excellent movie, I became a fan of his. Great review!

RIP Larry Drake. He did Jackie Chan The Big Brawl, Darkman, and This movie. I love the Comic book.
Robert Durant
Thanks!
I was lucky enough to see it in the theater.
"Jennifer escapes by falling down repeatedly." HA!
I'll admit this scared me as a kid back when it came out in the early 90s. I still enjoy it but of course I now understand the humor. :) It's sad this film is almost forgotten.
Larry Drake would have made an AMAZING Professor Pyg in a Batman film. May he rest in peace, he clearly had fun playing villains.
Larry Drake was an amazing actor.
Rest in peace, Manny Coto
9:20 Even her friend is like "oh good grief"
NGMonocrom
I agree. The tone, of the show, changed quite a bit after that.
My favorite Larry Drake film: "Dark Night of the Scarecrow".
One of the best made for TV horror films.
Larry Drake was so good in this one, and the first 2 Darkman movies. Love 'em!
Rip
This one time at band camp…where was her 2 sisters Paige and Phoebe (or maybe Prue)? I’m surprised there was no mention of Glenn Quinn (Max) who passed away in 02. Best known for Roseanne and Angel.
15:53 I couldn't agree with you more Larry Drake is Dr Giggles great job i'm about to revisit this flick thanks to your review!
This was my favorite movie when I was a kid. I was Dr. Giggles for Halloween I had to explain what I was the entire night. Worth it.
Larry Drake is great in everything I have seen him in.
I saw this heavily cut in the late 90's, only saw the uncensored version a few months ago, now i really want it on dvd.
The humour is sick, the characters are fun, especially the doc and the gore is plenty, the 90's might have not been the best decade for horror but there where sure some awesome pearls.
Dr. Giggles is AWESOME man I love this movie
Awesome
I laughed out loud 5 times watching this. I'm going to call this phenomenon lol from now on.
I saw this on TV a long time ago, and loved it too! :D Just very clever and the actor really blows each scene away!
only saw this for the first time last week, I hadnt even heard of it. Unexpectedly loved it
WOOOOOOO Portland! Finally, Oregon gets some love!
R.I.P Larry Drake.
He died? ? I can't believe I didn't know that :( I loved him in Dr Giggles and Dark man among others. He was a awesome villian.
@Harley you should see him in Dark Night of the Scarecrow. "Bubba didn't do IT!" lol
This is one of the best underrated slasher films out there. It really deserves more recognition.
Its a blast. I like to watch it every few years for Drake's performance. I wish he would do more horror.
When i first saw this in theatre, there was a fist fight between two people and they cancelled the showing lol
I remember this movie as a kid! It was so corny bad with lots of silly one liners but also legit creepy scenes.
Have a heart!......................RIP Larry Drake. I remember you in L.A Law.
RIP one of the best horror movies of all time. he'll be missed.
I don’t like horror films but I love Larry Drake. He was sorely underused in the field of film. Such a shame he passed away.
the one liners are so 80s/90s. Havent seen this yet but definitely on my list now..Had no idea the few extra faces i recognised are in it..
This is by far one of my favorite horror comedies the actor was perfect .
And look Piper. Where's her sisters you know with the power of three he would have been defeated much more quickly.
I've never seen this movie but I absolutely loved Drake in "Dark Asylum."
I usually fall down a lot when escaping myself; I end up pretty sore, but the escape makes it worthwhile.
holy shit, that's quite a slasher movie for the guy who played Robert G. Durant on Darkman 1 & 2, another movie i'll have to check this halloween.
Awesome Thanks! You should be able to find the movie cheap. I've seen it in the bargin bin at Walmart.
Superman 3? I think I can do that. It might be a while (probably sometime next year) but that sounds like it would be fun.
'I hope you brought protection!' XD
I think he just killed him for having such a stupid looking hairstyle.
RIP Larry Drake. For some reason I always thought there was a sequel to this.
RIP Larry Drake, one of the nicest guys I ever met!
I feel this is one of the best horror films of its time, and it was sorely needed it that era due to the genre going through a dry spell. Props for this review mentioning "Dexter", which is one of my favorite shows of all time (Miami Vice" and "Batman: The Animated Series" round out the top three, with "The Simpsons" not far behind).
just learn the Larry drake died, he was a genius. lets not forget how brilliant he was in Dark man
Omg I loved this movie when I was younger!!!
You aren't going crazy. I did do this back in march but due to YT restrictions (it was over 15 minutes) I couldn't post it here. So you'll probably see a few you've already seen pop up here in the next few days,
he even said he liked playing bad guys because they usually had the more interesting role. We don't get actors of his calibur much anymore
Definitely. I'm trying to have it ready for when the new Mortal Kombat movie hits theaters next year.
I loved this as a kid and now
but thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying them :)
This one ie the longer version I kinda like the tune on it. Keep up the good work I like ur reviews
Larry Drake is a genius.
7:32 the most hilarious part of the movie! "I hope you have protection."
Especially if you just watched Stu trying to fish the condom out of the toilet
Love it when I was a kid and love it even more now
"It's OUCHLESS!' 😃
OH MY GOD! I remember seeing an ad for this movie in one of my oooolllddd wolverine comics!!!! I never saw the movie cause I was way too young, but this review maes me want to see it now. It looks just too fucking good!
Cool :)
I think I'll see if I can hide the old one now.
dr giggles is a great movie and I suggest everyone watch it. the humor is well timed and the serious parts are tense.
Dr. Giggles actually premiered as a short story in the anthology comic Dark Horse Presents
"Breeder's Hill"
The "Terminal" scene - one of the best cheesy moments in (B) movie history. And one of the best one-liners (one-worders ? can it be a thing ?)
Wow, I'll have to see what Larry Drake did other than this and Darkman.
Dude... you rock...
You should totally do RoboCop...
It's just enough of a cult classic for your taste :D
Gotta love Larry Drake!
I'm not a fan of slasher flicks, but this looks awesome! Love Larry Drake; he's never less than watchable and in this it looks like he's finally been given something he can sink his teeth into. And the jokes are worthy of Forry Ackerman.
Do you mean this one (the old one) or the shorter one? (the one on D&D, Sweet Revenge, etc)
Jennifer is a "charmed one".
Piper Halliwell.
This could have made the best series :)
We need more funny killer movies
I didn't know she was on that show! Good for her.
I gotta go back and watch that again.
Fun fact Dr giggles voiced pops in Johnny Bravo
I only clicked on this because I thought it was Andre The giant in the thumbnail. A horror film with Andre would be well worth anyone's time I feel.
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out
"Jennifer escapes by falling down repeatedly." 10:00 I thought horror movie directors had figured out how lame that is, but I just watched TCM 3D because GoodBadFlick recommended it and Daddario can't run 5' without falling down...
1:17 Hey, it's Durant from "Darkman"!
I love this movie so much!
There was one scene where a kid was playing Dr. Mario, and Dr. Rendell was observing this, saying just one word: "Terminal."
God I love your jokes
The father is also from Shock Treatment. Hehe. I love Shock Treatment.
I love this film I saw it first back in 2014 or 2015 can't remember cuz I liked it so much I've watched it alot more times sense then and Larry drake died back in 2016 sadly he was a great actor and my favorite role of his would be pops from johnny bravo
