At least you got to see exactly what the Busa was capable of, with Gixxer maxing it out a couple times. No one else had the balls to peg it wide open. It met a glorious end at the hands of Gixxerbrah. RIP Turbo Busa

I replayed the video and if what he said happened actually happened. Then he down shifted to first gear at 50mph. Only time I ever shift into first is from a dead stop. I'm not sure how these guys bikes last as long as they do.
@@griinchxx6550 first gear on a busa will go up to 86mph, downshifting into 1st at 50mph isn't going to cause problems. pretty much every inline 4 supersport is capable of 65mph in first gear without causing any extra stress, even 600s. it blew because the turbo was pushing that 20yr old engine to it's limit everytime it was turned on. the only way it would have survived longer is if yammie was changing the oil every like 2hrs of engine time. naturally aspirated race bikes have to change oil after every race and even then they still blow up
@@Ded_Ram True to that, my zx6 got up to 80 in 1st. I never downshift into 1st until I hit 40 or below though just to be more easy on the bike.

At least do a teardown showing what failed. Then decide what to do with it. Everyone wants to know what happened.

If its going to be in his "meme museum" for display, tear it down. We all want to know, im sure he'll be curious eventually. Heck, pull the plugs and put a borescope in the holes. More than likely it lost a piston or two.
I think Gixxer’s video (where he just kept dogging it out, and burying the needle) explains what happened to it.
@Guinness Pig of The Alpaca Lips he didn't constantly bury the needle like how he usually rides, but you've got to remember that the bike has a turbo which isn't meant for it plus it revs extremely high

Personally if I had your contacts and cash, I would get it rebuilt. You don’t have to do a video series or stuff. Just get it fixed in your time frame.
Then surprise everyone. That bike is you all over and seeing how much it made you happy(forget about the angry times) would be worth the work. I think the turbo busa needs to be reborn from the ashes and be able to fly again 👍🏻
He would have to make videos of repairing it 1. Tax write off 2. Possible sponsorships ad free parts 3. Revenue

I think after you drain the fluids and have the bike ready for display in the shop, you should make like a shadow box or display stand next to the bike with all the pieces that failed. I'm sure you could still reassemble it without those pieces inside so the pieces could kind of tell a story of the final moments before it died.

I've seen enough Turbo-Busa content and thank you for it! CBX was only designed for around 100hp so doubtful it would ever reliably satisfy your high speed needs + being a rare classic it would be kind of a crime to do anything other than a resto project with one. H2 personal/shop bike gets my vote for best option.

It happens, especially when you turn the wick up. Agree with demeanor, it could have happened when anyone was riding it and it was built to be pushed to the limit. It sucks but it is no one's fault.
AT LEAST tear it down and find out what went wrong.
But honestly a rebuild series will pay for itself, and I really wanted to see the standing mile content as well.

my favorite thing about the bike community as a whole is the rush to "i dont care about the bike, are you okay?" it would be so easy to start the blame game weather its a wreck or whatever, the human life stands over all the money or time into any project.
It’s an expensive repair, so I understand. But a breakdown of what went wrong I think would be very educational. And having it in your shop as a show piece is a great idea! Maybe some photos of it in action on the wall near it as well.

First off the way it died was glorious. After giving another amazing performance, The legendary Turbo Busa safely drifted it's rider to the side of the road in a huge safe plume of engine smoke. Safely is the key. It could have easily oiled its rear tire at 180 mph and killed you or Gixxer . It didn't. The good mojo, despite the professionally done, Frankenstein turbo has always been with this great bike. You live in the great state of Texas. Sadly, probably once every three or four weeks, someone drops a Busa at high speed, somewhere in Texas. In the process, they dismantle the bike, but a pristine engine remains. The Busa does not need to be a Turbo anymore. It could just be a great running and sounding, naturally aspirated highway speed demon. A place for the aftermarket to shine and that all day comfort of one the finest all day crotch rockets to again show why Texas interstates are some of the most fun places on earth. Maybe an aftermarket carbon fiber company wants to showcase it's great gear for the Busa as well as other great bikes. Realistically, how light can a classic Busa be made with parts, provided by sponsors, with that single goal in mind? And hey, a track day on a Yammie rebuilt Busa Reborn would be pretty damn cool. "They all laughed at me when I took the Busa Reborn into the track. They ain't laughing anymore," There is a much cheaper and, way more livable, way forward with this bike and just few thousand instead of ten thousand dollars could get your longtime friends heart beating again. And this time, it rises as beautiful as it is fast and loyal. Wipe the tears from those crying kitties eyes Yam, and fix this legend.
I think it deserves to live for not taking gixxer with it. A min-weight build would be cool as shit.
Got my Busa in 00, 1st turbo was an old Hahn, after that a stg 2 Velocity. Turbo bikes blow motors irregardless of how well they are tuned. I finally got tired of pissing $$$ in the wind & settled on a mildly built 1397….

Super high performance vehicles tend to be unreliable. When you start adding boost, it's gonna break sooner or later. You just have to have fun before it goes.

The cool factor of a heavily modified/build bike or car is so much fun into you run into issues. And let me tell you they are one after another sadly and can be a monster to track down. Turbo busa is badass, i just dont see one being reliable no matter what is done

I say a rebuild would be very cool to watch, and it would be nice to have it running again even if you keep it as a museum peice to never run wide open like that again. But I get rebuilding these things is a pain and takes up a lot of $$$. Either way you're gonna come out good. Either you save money and time, or you spend some money but make a cool series and bring the bike back. Maybe wait a while and see if the "urge" comes back.
Lol love the outtro. So cool that a little internet beef turned into this moto friendship. I say you do it ONE MORE TIME. turbo busa has too much of a cool factor to scrap. Rebuild the bottom again...just as strong. Smaller turbo. Less power. Tuned down, but still ALL BALLS.

Yammie, you know how I feel. You gotta keep it and restore it. I've always wanted to play Turbo Busas with you! Anyway, after I wrecked my Turbo Busa. I bought a full Busa without the engine. It took from the day it was wrecked June 6th to February 19th to complete the engine swap. 8 months. Rode it a handful of times until it started to spray gas from the fuel lines. It was burning a lot of oil too. Needs new fork seals. So now it's in the shop again, fixing all the problems and getting an engine overhaul. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. I want it done right. I absolutely love and need my Turbo Busa. I can't imagine life without it. There's nothing on earth that can compare to how much fun it is. My other Busas are fun but the Turbo Busa is by far better. You know that it's the funnest thing man has accomplished! Please don't let it go. Besides, I just love having a Yammie Noob Turbo Busa video to watch here and there. Watching you ride it brings those same feelings as when I ride mine to me. I enjoy hearing what you have to say about it and how it makes you feel. Save the Turbo Busa, she deserves it!

Sounds like potential hydro lock situation. Pull spark plugs and see if it turns over. If a turbo blows it can dump oil. Worth a shot to pull the plugs at least. But yeah crank failure is totally possible as well.

It was a cool bike while it lived. I watched the Gixxer Brah video when he blew it and it was the Turbo Boss’s last ride. I think moving on is the wise choice and a H2 would be a fast fun and dependable bike.
Rebuild!!! It's a first gen hayabusa. A legend, an iconic motorcycle. Maybe leave out the turbo and leave it in your shop in stock form but in riding condition.
I have one of these and it's an amazing bike. I've been with it so long that I don't even feel comfortable on another bike.

Back in 1971 I let a friend ride my brand new Yamaha XS650 Twin. It had 45 miles on it. I could hear him off in the distance from my house rapping that bike at high speed. On a brand new engine. Sure enough after a 100 miles of so I ran rough only to find the studs holding rocker's in place had come loose there-by making it impossible to adjust the valves. Yamaha paid for the repair but I never again let anyone ride my bike again.

As a qualified UA-cam mechanic it sounds like the turbo blew causing the huge white smoke, pissed out all it's oil in the process, engine ran dry and the bottom end has seized... BUT we all know the drill: build, race, break, cry, repeat. Bigger and better would be lovely to see.. An all out 'YammieNoob Drag Team' with a 500bhp drag busa would be mega and ALSO suicide 😁
I support the museum piece and get a ZH2. 🔥 This is how tons of tuner car guys end up, they get sick of custom stuff because it never works for a long time.

Just a blown turbo. I've been there, that's the exact colour smoke that comes out from a blown journal bearing turbo. I realise it affects your psychological state when there's car or bike problems, you eventually get over that and be more patient, you're half way there already.

If the turbo blew and pushed oil into the cylinders, it could have hydro locked the cylinders, which would not allow it to crank over. That looked like oil smoke coming out of the exhaust. 🤷🏼 It’s a possibility. Also, I heard no turbo spool noise after the smoke started coming out.
Fitting that gixxerbrah gave her the last send off. Pushin the bike to its limits lol 🤘🏾

I agree with the idea of a teardown to see what really happened. Though heavily modified bikes/cars randomly blowing up seems a not uncommon occurrence. Puts alot of stress on parts that weren't designed for it.

If the turbo is a Mr Turbo the failure often occurs in the scavenge pump. Better to install a Hanze. The Mr Turbo DOES NOT flow oil fast enough to keep up with the boost. I personally customized the pump on my Mr Turbo and it was fine. My next busa I went with the Hanze and it was also fine.
Bring it back to life! It needs to run the 200 then put her on display. Show us some of the tear down and rebuild.

I built my own Turbo Busa myself. So unless you build it "yourself" and personally inspect every single little thing and know exactly what you're doing to oversee the process yourself; changing out everything that needs to be changed and/or machined with reputable, high quality parts that are also assembled correctly, you run the risk of metal fatigue if you cheap out on the build --plain and simple, because I remember your earlier vids on what you had done to the bike and tbh it wasn't adequate enough. You built it to a dollar value and that's what you got. I don't care who you sent it to and how cool their business slogan is. You need to build it yourself and get help to learn about it in the process and understand your own engine. Call it a hobby.
If you're truly dedicated to the Hayabusa following, you would rebuild it and rebuild it properly to actually handle 200mph.
Sleep on it for a bit, and rebuild the engine with boost capable internals. I think the busa was a big part of the channel and it deserves to stay ❤️

It might not be as bad as you’re thinking.
Oil coming out of the exhaust means it’s getting to the wrong side of the turbo.
It may just have pumped oil into the cylinders causing it to hydro lock.
It might just be a bad turbo.
