I didn't walk away to teach them a lesson- I walked away cause I finally learned mine.

My relationship went south after my psychologist taught me boundaries as to stop being gaslit or manipulated.
My x partner I came to realise didn’t understand being told NO.
We fell apart quite quickly as I realised I had been abandoning myself to try and please someone who always found another hoop for me to jump through.
If I can give any advice I’d implement clear boundaries in the relationship early and to prioritise your own needs and wants first and foremost within reason of coarse.

Hi Lise, I’m a single guy and your points made me realise how lucky I am to be single. Taking on my wife’s issues when I was married, was so draining and confusing. I was wasting my life.
God bless you with all the advice you give. Con Australia 🇦🇺

I struggle so much with abandonment fears and anxious attachment, it hurts my heart. I never put them on other people in relationships, but I find that I can't speak up for my boundaries, because I'm afraid to lose someone who cares for me. Because of this, I mostly go for avoidants who walk away and break up with me 😢. I'm in therapy to fix my attachment style. Please pray for me. xx

Having been with a BPD partner made me feel like a codependent mess. In my longterm quite healthy relationship before, I felt independent and safe. So attachment style can vary depending on partner you are with.

I cut off a “self centered” friend a few years ago. But all the various ways he took all my helpings for granted haunt me. I grab other positive thoughts and think them but when I walk past his house they return.

Its relentlessly exhausting. She'd have one drama after another, some of them were only in her head. I used to worry for her health but she just seems to need the chaos.

Here's something to meditate upon: "Finally believers, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8.

I am a solo father with a 12 year old son since he was 6 months old. I haven't been in any relationships and anyone I've dated hasn't been allowed to meet him.
He keeps telling me that he wants a mom, so I'm thinking it's okay to date again. My fear is him becoming attached or involved in my bad relationship choices. Do you have a video for me?

I have quiet BPD (mostly healed, I still have some struggles) I also have autism, cptsd, short term memory loss, and am physically disabled. I have worked (and still am working) really hard in therapy to manage the emotional issues I have but I find it really hard to be independent and I don't know what to do about that. I worry that I might be too dependent or attached to him, more than is necessary due to my disabilities.

Sorry to say doc, but you always put BPDs in bad light. Always exaggerating about their symptoms. People will get scared of their BPD partners and will choose running away.

The statement, "always exaggerating" is, by definition, an exaggeration.

“Always exaggerating” …no, she is clearly stating truth so people can understand and make decisions that are right for them based on knowledge.
