I'm an fan of Soilwork since they caught me with The Flameout from their Natural Born Chaos Album 20 years ago. This Song is as you correctly stated solid and I like it. But they have such a wide range now habing developed out of "pure" Götheborg Melo Death into something very own so if you like it purer then it I would suggest Needlefeast or Grand Failure Anthem. My personal Favourites next to The Flameout would be The Ageless Whisper, Parasite Blues, Death in General, Stalfagel and from their latest Album just released on August 19th Dreams of Nowhere. But in the end it is worth exploring all of their works as they all have their different merrits and show how Soilwork developed and progressed musically over the years. They manage to surprise and fascinate me with every new Album, and that's not an easy task to achieve...
Yeah, this was one of Soilwork's 'milder' songs from 2010 ... drums were by Dirk Verbeuren, who is currently Megadeth's drummer 🤘🤘 Soilwork was part of the Gothenburg metal scene in Sweden w/ In Flames, Dark Tranquility, The Haunted, etc... originally formed by Bjorn 'Speed' Strid (vocals) and Peter Wichers (guitar) in the 90's, the band debuted in 1998 w/ 'Steelbath suicide' and began releasing records at a frantic pace... 6th album 'Stabbing the drama' got some major promotion as Soilwork played Ozzfest 2005... Peter Wichers left the band briefly, but returned to record 1 more album 'The panic broadcast' in 2010... it would be his last Soilwork record after health issues took him off the road. Soilwork returned w/ a new line-up w/ David Andersson & Sylvain Coudret (guitars) being added... a double album 'The Living Infinite' becoming a remarkable album in 2013... Last Soilwork album was 'Verkligheten' in 2019... a new album is due out in 2022. The band is currently- Strid (vocals), Andersson & Coudret (guitars), Sven Karlsson (keyboards), & Bastian Thursgaard (drums) ... and a session bassist Rasmus Ehrnborn for live shows. Soilwork bangers to check out - 🔥🔥🤘🤘'Nerve'... 'Sworn to the great divide'... 'Figure number five'... 'Bastard chain'... 'Tongue'
A good contrast to Soilwork is The Night Flight Orchestra. Same singer but the entire band has an 80s synth rock sound. Highly recommend tracks like Midnight Flyer, Stiletto, Servants of the Air, Aeromantic, Domino, Living for the Nighttime, Sail On, Transmissions. You can't go wrong.
I'm about 8 months late to the soilwork train here. I just watched this and your first reactions and I think you would like the following tracks from them very much. Arrival Vultures The godless universe The ride majestic Spectrum of eternity Electric again A whisp of the Atlantic (17 minutes pure gold) Peace! ✌️
You can tell Peter Wichers was listening to a lot of Nevermore when this album was written. And it rips. He's amazing on Warrell Dane's Praises To The War Machine.
Not their best for me either. But tbf they are consistently good. Stabbing the drama is my fave song but I’m in love with the singles from the upcoming new album. I find bands evolving keeps my interest and these certainly do (unlike the band I commented on a while back when I said they were super talented but boring as fuck - made you stop in your tracks 😂) Björn is for me the best singer in metal at the mo. He has another band The Night Flight Orchestra and they are polar opposite’s from this. Worth a listen. Good stuff man 🤘🤘🤘 So I’d recommend Stalemate (old tune) And Overgivenhetten (upcoming new album)🤘
More Soilwork! My favourite Swedish metal band.
"Stabbing the drama"
One of my favorite solo ever!!!
Thank you so much Terry. This was a big surprise for me. Love this song so much!

Yeah, this was probably their lightest song at that point. I agree.
And how about ’Chainheart Machine’, especially the live version with Dirk on the drums.

Anything of the Living infinate albums is great...such a masterpiece of an album
I like the mixture of vocals!

Fire from the left, fire from the right, fire for the middle where we are stuck in the center with Soilwork.

Check out Bastard Chain.
This marked the beginning of the glory years of soilwork imo. This album thru ride majestic is prime soilwork. On par with prime opeth imo
