It's an absolute shame that it still hasn't been released officially in English. I really think it's a masterpiece and I feel guilty for only reading it as a fan translation and not being able to support the author or help boost its numbers. Putting away a small nest egg so whenever the English volumes come out, I can snatch them up right away.
The Kingdom english scanlators only accepted donations, they didnt take money for the work they did. And they did the bulk of the series over 10 years ago. I respect that youre waiting for english translations but I wouldnt feel bad about reading the series if you havent yet.
I love the fact you put Kyoukai in the thumbnail. She's easily my no.1 favourite manga waifu in Shounen/Seinen history. She's like the female Hiei from YuYu Hakusho to me, badass swordsman, wears bandana, loner, cold but kind heart to the dumbass mc. I love the chemistry between her and Shin, it's so cute and entertaining to read.
I only just read kingdom recently but it is already my favorite manga I've ever read, I love basically everything about it. The characters are all over the board, there are characters that are enemies who are even more likable, and even better people than the ones we are supposed to root for (basically anyone kanki fights is a better person). As mentioned in the video, the progression is masterful, you really feel like Shin and the others are slowly making their way up, from footsoldier, to 100-man, to 300-man, etc. you see every step in Shin's journey. Lastly (before I write a whole essay here) the series moves at a breakneck pace, not that it rushes through anything, far from it, but it just, never, stops. As soon as one thing is over, you're almost immediately thrust into the next event, if there is a gap of a year or two between wars, boom, short time skip. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I absolutely love this series, and if you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and give it a shot.
I've always felt that way about Shin, but I still find him somewhat refreshing. It's not like he's the comedic relief character, or anything, but his genuine simplicity in a world of political intrigue with a massive emphasis on war strategy is relaxing in a way. And it's not relaxing in the "he's the MC so he automatically wins", but It's a great foil to other characters who feel like they're fighting with the weight of their country on their shoulders. Also I appreciate how the series doesn't have a blatant power creep. Like yeah Shin moves up in the food chain in terms of who he is authorized or tasked to fight, but overall it doesn't feel like they go from a small battle, to a medium sized battle, to a large battle and so on. Every battle is different and even smaller campaigns are explained in a way that there's still a huge amount of narrative and in-verse tactical weight behind them.
God I really do need to check out Kingdom at some point. It's always been on my list, and knowing there's so many chapters out there to read just gets me more excited to start. Great video bro!

There are a total of 689 Chapters of Kingdom right now. I think what really makes the series so fascinating is how realistic the dialogues are. You can truly feel the veins and bones inside every character, the emotion and reaction are just so real.
I've been wanting to start kingdom but got turned off by the anime, then got side tracked by Arslan. This is a sign that I should start reading the manga 😌
Kingdom to my opinion is the seinen equivalent of one piece. But it feels that the story progresses compared to one piece where I ask myself where is the progress. But still both are on my top 10. Kingdom -9.75/10 One piece - 9.5/10

HxH anime is my all time favourite, no disrespect for the manga but I feel the anime elevates it amazingly. Berserk (of what I've watched and read) is incredible too. But yeah as you say, they are all great!
I always felt that i should of read it, as ane of the big 4 (beserk, vagabond, Vinland saga, kingdom) i wanted to read it to find out Wich one was really the best between them, but the incredible length of it kinda put me off, especially since when i started it i did so with it's anime, (a poor choice i know) and then i never picked up again. What would you say? Would you confidently say that kingdom is better than the other 3?
It’s really hard to say to be honest. I’d say it’s down to what kind of story you like the most. Vagabond is very character driven from what I read, Berserk is amazing but dark fantasy whereas Kingdom is very grounded in real history. I haven’t read Vinland only watched, but if I had to guess I’d put it closest to that. For me confidently I can say I like it the most out of all four so far. But everyone is different, if you like Vinland Saga a LOT I’d say Kingdom is worth your time
@What’s Up so i guess it's not really a seinen, it's a war manga of incomparable depth and clearness, probably similar to the saga of Tanya the evils light novel, I'll definitely give it another go, ty.
@What’s Up i mean, seinen Is just supposed to be generally more mature and touch up on some more philosophical matters, gore doesn't make it seinen, just look at jujutsu kaisen or chainsaw man.
my only complain is Ou ki died way too early, i freaking love the dude. but its nice that hes still somehow a influence and the plot continues with him as flashbacks

Completely agree. I feel like authors can also start get crept up on by power creep, but Kingdom handles it really well
