Being a nurse I was on my feet 12+ hours a day. I felt like someone was beating my heel with a sledge hammer. After spending hundred of dollars on many different kinds of shoes, I found Vionics. Best relief for PF. It was instant! They have sneakers, heels, sandals, slippers and inserts only. All my shoes that are not Vionics brand have the inserts. No foot pain ever.
After watching a dozen of your videos I consider myself an expert on Plantar Fasciitis. UA-cam is so much better than college. My foot is now healing nicely.
@@Nirmanyujamwal Well, I was misdiagnosed. I actually had Gout. Which is treated with drinking more water, White Mulberry leaves, Cinnimon, coffee and potasium.
@@akkuverma2328 The key symptom that indicates goat are hard swollen joints. My ankle was almost twice its normal circumference. Took me a lot of looking at pictures of ankles before I matched my condition to gout. The other key symptom is it hurts when you are not putting any weight on it while you are sleeping. The pain would wake me. Gout is worse at night.
I was tearing up a little for this video because I am a track runner and I suffer with bad plantar fasciitis and nothing I do seems to work but I switched to new shoe you recommended and it has made the world of difference for me. Thank you kind sir... May God ease your affairs.
@@dawnmariejudell1826 my chiropractor said he isnt able to do prolotherapy for pf. He is the one who done it for other things on me and dont know why he tells me no for this
For years podiatrists, sports therapists, and doctors told me I was an over-pronator. PF on both feet for over years. I had the super-stiff shoes, ran in the super-rigids, had the injections (ouch!), and suffered something crazy. Then looked at my body, did the wet feet, paper bag test, and lo, I was an under-pronator. A combo of stretches and softer to normal shoes means I’ve been pain free for some years. I miss my rigid brogues - they looked and sounded smart in a suit, but they are just for occasional dress-ups now. I keep up the stretches advocated by these great guys and, yes, the wet feet/dry paper test is basic but other pros diagnosed without it. Great work, Bob and Brad, the wife and I are learning a lot. 🇬🇧
Hoka’s contribute to your PF. To narrow a toe box. Heel has too much cushioning and toe area doesn’t have enough support. It arches upwards! You actually want a shoe that is flatter with less cushioning. A Podiatrist I go to recommends Altras.
I get shoes with good support AND cushion. A nice arch support can help, a lot. Brooks in the $80+ range are my go tos, or hiking boots with metal shanks.
What amazes me is those of us that suffer from PF have so many things that adversely affects the condition or seem to improve it but no two of us are alike. My feet are flat and a higher firmer arch in a shoe does me best. Man, do I wish there was a one size fits all fix. PF has severely affected my life at times to the point of dreading those first steps out of bed. It tempers my whole day.
Have you looked into kuru shoes, I suffered for 24 years bought a pair a few months back and have had no problems since, can even touch the floor again come am . @@sandyhosford2524
@@sandyhosford2524 I'm late to the party but very tired of my constant foot pain journey. I've never found anything that made me say "wow that definitely helps". And I think one reason for that is because I don't know enough to help myself. I see ads and read descriptions that tell me the shoe will help and when it doesn't I feel like I should have went the opposite direction. But I recently learned how I can retrain myself to walk better and it made me realize how big of a role my minute to minute actions play in this situation. You can have have the best, most perfect tool in the world but it won't help much if you don't use it right. Make sure it's the exact size you need, that one leg isn't longer than the other, that your hips and ankles and toes are all working together as intended. I went over 20 years basically walking wrong and listening to a physical therapist for a single minute changed how I think about every step I take. We have to do our own research and find out what really works best for us instead of going straight for the mass produced and marketed products. Unfortunately that's an enormous labor and I am yet to find many answers
Working on concrete, I wear Dansko. They've saved my feet! I never, ever go barefoot, or I immediately have problems. Brooks tennis shoes are great for normal wear. Thank you, guys. We appreciate you.
I have high arch and wear 4 E shoes so I am limited on a few brands .The right kind of shoe even without a fancy shoe insert is crucial to managing Plantar fasciitis without the need for podiatrist visit or fancy custom fit inserts . A year ago I was forced to switch to a different shoe model , but the same brand that I have always worn for about 6 years, because I thought the model i have always worn was phased out . Prior to that switch i am basically symptom free for maybe 10 years by using just the shoe that fits. Lo and behold, a few weeks after the switch my Plantar Fasciitis came back with a vengeance, to the point that I wanted to visit a podiatrist. Sought the advice of nurse friends and received recommendation for Hokas. While Hokas indeed have excellent cushioning, 4 E size 11.5 looks really huge and there is still a touch of discomfort on arch part although minimal on the 2 Hokas models I tried. So I had to return the Hokas and tried my luck on the New Balance that I always worn and to my surprise the model I always worn has always been available but has a new version. Ordered a new pair and just like that I am mostly pain-free and saved a whole lot of money . My point is there’s no cookie cutter solution to finding the perfect shoes that work for your feet 🦶 suffering from plantar fasciitis. And it’s hard work to find it . Also when you do have a flare up of pain.. don’t neglect icing or cold therapy to ease the flare up… exercises and stretching probably can help for some but in my experience, I got better relief with cold therapy. Easier to hunt for a shoe when your symptoms are lesser. With a flare up , almost all shoes will be uncomfortable… Sorry for the long post lol
After five years with PF and tons of money in shoes I’ve found it’s not always the shoes but the proper inserts. And exercise, the stronger your feet get the better after healing.
Livesout Doors most definitely. I buy my shoe inserts/arch supports at The WalkingCompany. They have many to choose from. Far superior to the custom ones I got from my podiatrist.
After dealing with plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis, not only is the shoe and sole important, stretching and exercising the achilles and calf muscles are extremely important.
Today I went to a local shoe store and nothing under $120ish had enough arch support for me EXCEPT the Adidas Racer TR21. It was the only shoe that filled my arch and offered a lot of support. The aesthetic design wouldn’t be my first choice, but they are so comfortable. I’m glad I found them.
Since wearing New Balance Vaygo V2 my arch pain has gone! These shoes are firm, offer stability, have removable insoles and are affordable. I got them in wide because they felt comfortable, even though I have normal feet. And that's the most important thing. Go for shoes that are comfortable to you regardless of what a professional will tell you.
I have very high arc and learned the fuss about plantar fasciitis when I wake up one morning limping into the bathroom. Tried inserts which seems to offer some relief at work and used ASICS high arch running shoes for casual wear. I came across the Merrill crosslander vent and tried it on and was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable they are to my feet. The high arch design of the shoes is rigid and provides good contact. Went on a holiday that involves a lot of city walking for 4 days and my feet never hurt.
Wow, that sounds so nice! I have high arches as well and I remember at the end of a hike in some new boots, I was only 100yds from the car but felt like I couldn't make it, my feet hurt that bad! It's good to know there's some hope out there, thanks for sharing.
I’m 60+ and suffered from PF in both feet for decades. I used supportive shoes like the ones the guys feature in the vid. As soon as there was a short period between pain outbreaks, I did foot and ankle exercises and stretches every day, starting slow and easy. Then I got some minimalist shoes and started wearing them a little at a time. In a year or so, I have zero PF or other foot problems. I hike miles on both flat and rugged terrain. I now believe that wearing supportive shoes too often (or when you simply do not need the support) actually leads to foot problems. Your feet need to become strong and flexible. Go barefoot and get a pair of minimalist “barefoot” shoes and try for yourself.
Yes, I looked into that recently and I want to buy a pair of minimalist shoes. I started walking barefoot in the house a few days ago, even though doctors told me not to and it feels great, feels like I set my feet free out of a cage. I have had PF since a teenager, (I'm middle age now), but I think my feet are a lot stronger than others realize, even myself. Best wishes. And Take care all.
Years ago I started wearing Nike Air Shox because my plantar fasciitis was not getting better. After just a few weeks, my 4 month long planter faciitis was better:) now I live in similar shoes. Great info, thx so much!!
After a year of suffering with PF and trying multiple arch supports, steriod shots, taping, exercises, I bought a pair of original footed Birkenstocks and in a week never had that pain again. I use them all summer long and keep them out in the winter to wear if it flares up.
@@htdvkywcs6292really? My foot doctor recommended that brand for in house shoes. For indoor also recommended oofos, hoka, crocs, and vionic. I just want relief from the pain. Stretching has helped before getting out of bed.
I’m surprised your doctor gave you cortisone in your feet since it’s a small area and it does so much damage. My doc doesn’t do it unless it’s the last resort.
I have been suffering for a year and bought every insert they have at Walmart. The concrete floors are so hard to work on and has started to mess up my spine. I’m glad I was able to find some info, thank you!
You need to buy 2 shoe insoles then put a pair of socks flat in the middle of the 2 insoles then about a month later your feet will feel like it needs to add more socks in between the insoles so put another pair of socks in between the two insoles for your foot .... I have 5 socks in between my two in soles and that’s just for one shoe
I don’t know what to do I have bought shoes I have bought insoles from the Good Feet Store I am know seeing a foot Docter that give me shot in my foot I’m still in pain I wear two pairs of socks !
I have to disagree with the arch support requirement. I had PF, and did lots of (prescribed) physical therapy and foot stretches. I used PF supports for a couple of months. After five months, it was mostly gone. Then I switched to flexible zero-drop shoes (Minnetonka suede boots primarily, because it was winter.) The last of my pain was gone in about five days. Since my pain had been steady for almost a month, it was remarkable. I have not worn shoes with any heels in four or five years, except three times briefly for events. And those are the only times I have had any PF twinges. No arch support except my foot’s own support. I don’t even use arch support for hiking, and I’m better than ever. Meanwhile, the doctor who referred me was still suffering with PF a year later, and she began PT and all the conventional stuff six months before me. So if your PF won’t go away even if you’re doing everything right, do your own research.
I have found that too ... I wear heavy steel toe boots all day, for over 15 years, wasn’t really a problem on my feet but some back pain and poor posture. I started wearing shoes with no heel on the weekends and it stretches my feet out a lot, wasn’t using those muscles for years. Your feet are built the way they are on purpose.
I struggled with it for 30 years, trying all the things... I heard a podcast with Peter Attia .... PROBLEM SOLVING WITH YOUR FEET #128 - Irene Davis, Ph.D.: Evolution of the foot, running injuries, and minimalist shoes “Rather than have the runners adapt to the running, they took the shoe and adapted it to the runner.” - Irene Davis this made sense to me... you wear a neck brace when first recovering from injury, but not forever... you have to let your foot muscles do what they are designed to do, too... not 100% of the time to start with, but slowly retrain your foot muscles to do their job. since then I have worn no shoes at home, and nike frees at work... minimalist shoes, in other words. huge improvement...
We were at Cabelas aka Bass Pro Shop and I found 2 pair of Crocs sandals. Instant relief! I went on croc's site and what do ya know, many many shoes for plantar fasciitis! The shoe I'm wearing cushions around your entire foot and raises your heal higher than your toes. They're both casual and dressy.
Don't understand my I keep coming back - other than your suggestions have greatly improved my PF - but you guys are great, and EASILY the most famous PT's on the internet! Thank you!
I love my vionics, especially my running shoes. They have a high arch and they are quite rigid. I can hike in them and by also using Nordic poles I can walk 10+ km now.
I have had PF for 6 years now and my Vionic Turners are the only shoes that my feet don't scream in. Of course they discontinued the Turner and few brick & mortars carry Vionics so I can't try on the next model.
I agree with the person about the New Balance shoes. Bob and Brad, I would like to see a session on how to select insole inserts. I almost always replace the factory liners with something I have purchased, and the results are almost always better. Looking forward to seeing that... Thanks.
There are a few things worth trying Test out a natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be bought at your drug store, is a good anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in the class of plants known as Cox inhibitors. This means they help inflammation naturally. Another natural remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapples. If you drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the properties of Bromelain. This is natural healing at its very best. (I discovered these and more tips on fergs foot formula site )
Really appreciate the tips you guys give. I’ve got a flat foot and have struggled with back pain my whole life but with motion control shoes and doing exercises to work on my arch I was able to work in my wood shop yesterday, standing for three hours straight without any back pain. I’ve never been able to stand more than 15 minutes without my back hurting. Thanks guys.
Gosh I love you guys, just doing a simple stretch before walking on my feet, in the morning and throughout the day, and my pain is already 1/2 after one day! after a month of terrible pain stopping me from traveling.
Stretching the toes through the calf, through the thighs to the back does wonders. It's all connected. Shoes help but stretxhing brings the healing. PF decrease over time
1000%. I’ve had PF in both feet at different times over the span of 1.5 years, and stretching before and after exercises, and after long times on my feet really fixed it for me. I also wore a Strassburg Sock at night time that kept my toes flexed overnight, stretching my foot and relieving my foot pain
@@thirstonhowellthebird I can’t get the link copied but I just found a video this morning on Athlean-X ‘ s UA-cam channel called How to Fix Plantar Fasciitis. Seems helpful and I am going to try the stretches he demonstrates. My PF has flared up again so I was on the hunt for help.
I was diagnosed with PF in mid 2020 and I have wide feet, since then I’ve been trying to find affordable shoes that will meet my needs and size and it’s been difficult trying to figure out what to get. Thank you for this video, it’s been such a disappointing journey trying to find something, but now I have an idea of what to get.
I have wide, flat feet and had PF about 20 yrs ago (finally needed surgery). Anyway, I was told by my podiatrist that Brooks are the best. I still wear Brooks. I've been wearing the Ariel style for the past few years. Unfortunately, they are expensive.
Altras . You want a wide toe box shoes. Most shoes have narrow toe box which causes PF. They have made updated videos about shoes recently and recommend zero drop and wide toe box.
I have had plantar fasciitis in both feet at one time or another, and I find SAS shoes (San Antonio Shoemakers) to be very comfortable and offer great arch support. When you go to one of their brick and mortar stores, they measure your feet just like they should. They also sell online and have wide widths.
I love how SAS fits, but the heels of the shoes wear down very quickly. I have worn down the outside edge of the shoe in about 5 or 6 weeks. Too expensive for that.
I used to suffer with Plantar Fasciitis, my Podiatrist recommended Brooks Beast (motion control) to all his patients. My Plantar Fasciitis cleared up. I don't go barefoot and wear Birkenstocks shoes around the house.
I walk and have started suffering with PF. I bought a pair of Brooks Ghost 14 and it is like walking on air. I am not suffering with the pain like I did before. They have many different kinds of shoes, depending on your need, walking, running, etc. I highly recommend Brooks. I bought mine off Amazon.
I had Planters Fascitis then my friend told me to get a long round pillow and sleep with it under my Shins/Ankles to keep my feet from pointing downward like a Ballerina. I still sleep that way because it's so more comfortable.
Thanks to this I got measured at a running shop. I now wear Brooks Ghost, on the 3rd pair. Usually I wear them for work, I can then wear my other footwear for a 4-5 hours without having any issues.
Funny thing is that probably the shoes cause the problem instead of the foot itself. I came to this insight when I underwent a biomechanical screening. I was pronating severely when I was wearing shoes, as oppose to when I was running barefoot. When running barefoot I was in the normal range, meaning an acceptable angle between ankle (foot) and leg. This shows imo that shoe selection indeed is very important. Thank you, B&B!
Have you looked in to barefoot shoes/walking barefoot. Might help you to transition. I found a youtuber on her that teaches on that. I don't remember the channel but I am sure with keyword search it will pop up. 🙂
the shoe number 3 looks like my Air Max shoes, wich gave me Plantar Fasciitis.. now i got an understanding of why my feet were ruined by those shoes. thank you for sharing this information.
If you is interested in cures for plantar foot the greatest success that I have ever had was with the Natural Foot Wizard (i found it on google) definately the most helpful resource that I've tried.
I went several years with no issues after changing both my work boots and my daily walking shoes. Now have bad PF in my right foot. Started after I went to a new pair of walking shoes. I find that it is very hard to get similar models of shoes over time - constant changes by New Balance Since I wear size 15 shoes, my choices a fairly limited and no stores actually carry them in stock.
My husband has size 14-15 narrow, same issues finding shoes. When he finds one that fits I insist he buy another pair at the same time same color. Different colors will sometimes fit differently unfortunately.
Kudos for the Video clip! Excuse me for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Taparton Walking Foot Takeover (probably on Google)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for Getting Rid of Plantar Fasciitis without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend finally got great results with it.
I think I’m going to get a pair because I’ve seen many comments about their brand and how amazing it helps their PF. I have it really bad in my left foot and I am looking for relief so thank you for your comment!! Much appreciated!!
@@TexasTourettes1 - You are welcome. I got some Vionics at Macy's end-of-summer sale last year for really cheap. Also, eBay has both used and new for pretty cheap as well. Best wishes for healing. There's NOTHING worse than sore feet
@@dorawaje4427 it DEFINITELY worked!! Thanks for asking 😊 I definitely recommend this brand. I was skeptical, but I was willing to try anything because it was so bad. Thank God they worked!!
New Balance shoes and Chaco sandals. My last time suffering from PF I wore Chaco sandals in the middle of our MN winter with socks on. PF disappeared in a few days.
Flat: Try Asics Kayano, Hoka Arahi or Brooks Adrenaline Average or medium try New Balance 880 fresh foam, Saucony Triumph or Mizuno Wave Rider. High arch try Hoka Clifton, ON Cloudflow or Altra Torin.. *13 years experience in Custom fitting specialized running shoes
The best shoe I have tried are motion control such as Brooks Beast or Addiction Walker. I also have used NB motion control but they and not as good as the Brooks.
I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in 2014. In 2018, my chiropractor recommended these custom orthotics because I also have scoliosis and spondylolisthesis. They didn't even come up close to the top of my arch, the fitting part didn't even measure how high my arch was. My arches are so high that I often have trouble finding shoes that my foot will go in to. I wore the orthotics for a few months and the pain had worsened to the point that I was in agony. I'm just glad the orthotics were covered by health insurance. They were about $400. I would have been pretty upset if I was out that kind of cash for something that didn't help at all. I went back to wearing Birkenstocks, like I'd been doing for years. I wear them basically all the time. I also use insoles, for my non-sandal shoes, from a company called Superfeet. They have colour-coding, where green is for really high arches. They are a little pricey but worth every penny. My pain is basically gone now.
I was advised to wear blue Superfeet ( BBBeyond had cheapest price) by podiatrist, they made my PF even worse. I wear Bondi 8 but Podiatrist told me to get New Balance. I got a cortisone shot in heel just 5 weeks ago, am getting unbearable pain in different site now.
The only thing that worked for me for my plantar fasciitis was Dansko leather clogs with backs. I had PT, sock type things with straps to pull the foot up, ( several kinds) , massage, and special inserts ( three kinds). Nothing helped but the Dansko.
When I experienced this badly one thing that helped greatly was rigid plastic heel cups that you wear inside your shoes. The dont allow the sole of your foot to spread when you step down and it helps the inflammation. One other thing that actually helped is when I went keto. Takes the inflammation all away
I've had PF for years. When I find the perfect shoes I buy many pairs... also put extra cushions inside. One doctor also provided me with 3 inch wide elastic band that goes around the middle of my foot and holds the plantar up keeping it soft... that was a live saver!
u mean the band is tied at the centre of the foot, around the plantar and the foot to keep them tight? wud appreciate an explanation or a pic thx:) got PF too
Zero drop shoes fixed my PF. I've suffered PF since middle school and I was a skinny kid that was active in track, basketball and football. Weight wasn't an issue for me but my feet got worse over the years. Once I ditched my adidas boost, hard dress shoes with elevated heels my PF went away. My feet got sore because the muscles were finally working the way they are meant to work. Slowly my feet got stronger and my pain went away. Now I own multiple shoes from various companies and all are zero drop minimalist shoes. We are not meant to be on elevated shoes and having our toes smooshed together.
Michael Sanchez Agreed! Just got Altra Trail Lone Pines with Dr. Scholl’s PF inserts and walked my dogs 2 days in a row with no heel pain for the first time. The shoes hurt w/o the inserts but with them they are the first pair that I can walk with no pain in my heels. I walked miles 😄
I notice too that my PF feels better when I go shoeless. The moment I put on a shoe (especially on that elevates the toes) and my PF is acting up, I'm in agony
same here . . . I wore orthotics for a while to calm down the worst of the pain, then switched to minimalist shoes and I haven't had a problem since. As a female it kind of sucks because minimalist shoes for women aren't terribly attractive/formal friendly, but I wear Lems and I love them.
Having Coached Cross Country and Track athletes at the high school levelfor over 30 years...I will say without a doubt both Brooks and Asics running shoes are the best for PF sufferers
New balance fuel cell propel is finally a shoe that works for me. Soft and light you can wear them all day. I jump up and down in a truck all day and it works great.
I am an amature boxer, and i haven't been able to train more than 1 or 2 days im a row because of my feet. Shin splints after 15 mins of running or boxing everytime for the last 2 years. I use Nike air max SC ( which is the air max 90 remake) their light weight and have alot of support which is rare. Highly recommended if your looking for something less clunky. Although every 4 to 6 months i would buy a new pair, and make sure you put your favorite insoles in them too.
I suffered from plantar fasciitis for around 3 years. I tried stretching, night sprint and ice for around 2 years without much relief. After that, I tried a steroid injection as advised by a renowned doctor but after 6-month more intense pain returned. One of the doctors advised me to reduce weight and wear a “doctor extra soft slipper”. As I can’t wear slipper to the office, I bought a pair of gel nimbus as advice over the blogs. **And surprisingly, the pain was gone within 10 days of the use of gel nimbus and doctor slippers. **I just made sure to wear either the shoe or slippers and never walked barefoot. Gel nimbus 22 was expensive but worth each penny, but not sure about latest nimbus versions.
@naveenqureshi1365 I am fully recover mate, within 1 month pain was almost gone. It's being 2 years since I am fully recovered. Now wear normal shoes, run and play with no issue.
I work 10 hour days and sometimes 12 standing on concrete 5 days a week and an extra 4 to 6 on Saturdays. I have tried Nike, Sketchers, Asics, Merrell, and many work boots all costing around 80 to 120 dollars. As far as sneakers go I have found they all feel good for a month or two then they break down inside ( even though the shoe still looks great inside and out ) and my feet absolutely kill me. One day My feet were in such pain I went to buy some new sneaker / tennis shoes and the shoe store was closed due to snow. I just decided to get some cheap Avia tennis shoes at Wal-Mart until I could get a better pair. Well I found these cheap 24 dollar shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have worn and so far after 4 months my feet have not hurt yet. So try them out .
@@jeffjeff8393 Avia is the Walmart brand . They used to be a big brand in the 80's ... As far as pricier shoes Merrell Moabs seem to last long. The Avias last just as long as the more expensive tennis shoes. I am standing more and not walking or running as much though, but if your feet hurt after 2 or 3 months for just 20 to 24 dollars just buy another pair or as many as you want.
I tried podiatrists, chiropractors, massage therapy, but The Good Feet store fixed my issues. I like that it’s lifetime and you use whatever shoes you prefer.
At The Good Feet Store you have to sign a contract to buy the inserts and they don’t give you your money back if the inserts dont work. You get store credit! There’s not much you can buy at that store. I fell into that trap in 2018. The arches were $400 each back then and they said I had to have four of them! $1200 down the drain. They say that doctors recommend the inserts, whoop de do, but they aren’t doctors and a doctor never sees you. Would you go to a jiffy lube to get stitches? Absurd when you think about it. Just go to an Orthopedic doctor. It’s way cheaper in the long run. The inserts take up so much space in your shoe that it squeezes your foot too, so you can’t wear them in most shoes. Just remember if you go to the Good Feet Store, THEY ARE NOT DOCTORS. THEY ARE SALESPEOPLE.
Love my Asics for slight overpronation. I work as a professional dog walker (for more than 10 years), so my feet are my income and I need to protect them.
There are many factors in curing for plantar foot. One place I found which successfully combines these is the Rohon Foot Care (check it out on google) without a doubt the best remedy i've heard of.Check out all the amazing info .
There are a few ideas for cures for plantar fasciitis Try to rest your feet Consider Wearing supportive footwear Try ice on your heel Try ibuprofen or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug to lessen pain and inflammation Wear night splints Try stretching and strengthening exercises. (I discovered these and why they work on Rohon foot care website )
I stretched my calf muscles out. 4 streches , 8 minutes a day gone in one week. These guys treat symptoms not the problem. Your calf muscles need stretched ,thats how you treat PF
I love my Hoka One One shoes. The Machs and the Bondi 6 are cushy and have neutral stability. I have flat feet but they supinate instead of pronating. My feet roll out and most running shoes are for pronators and they roll my feet out far too much. Also, being past 60, the fat pads are thinning and I need cushion. The shoes look sorta clunky but they're lightweight and the colors are great.
I resolved my issue by wearing a 4E width sneaker. I have fibreglass orthotics inserted for arch support. Brooks Ghost 12 is my current shoe and is great.
This moved the inflammation out of my husbands foot after using for 3 times, the pain had been bad for near a year. 2 - 5 gallon buckets, Epson Salt for the hot water ~ soak 3 munutes. Cold water in the other bucket ~ soak 1 minute. Repeat 4-7 times. The hot water does not need to be painful. The cold water add a few frozen water bottles to get cold. This flushes oxygen and nutrients while flushing inflammation. End on the warm water.
Thanks thanks thanks Joy Overley Estou sofrendo com essa dor há 6 meses. Li seu comentario há 3 dias. Fiz o que você escreveu. Hoje já estou melhor 90%. Obrigada por compartilhar. Gratidão🙏🤗
Pls Google for Viparita Karni yoga and do it daily for 15 mins for 3 times a day (best) .. Brings down any kind of inflammation at the ankles or foot.. Selt testimony for this.. It works wonders 😊
Ridged foot here too. Was told to wear shoes that go around the ankle to keep that stable. My PF is withstanding a lot of stuff. I sleep with my feet at 90 degrees (no splint, podiatrist was surprised - I ...fell asleep waiting for him to get in the room ROFL). I "walk" on my toes, to get pressure off my legs etc. Arches were not working without ankle support. Just wondering how much research is on the ankle support thing? I've looked through your vids and I didn't see anything on it. I have issues finding research on it myself, but it has made a big difference.
I had painful Plantar Fasciitis where I could barely walk across a room nearly 20 years ago, my doctor suggested trying SuperFeet, $30 before being fitted with expensive orthotics, within a few weeks the pain was gone. Ever since then I have had SuperFeet in all my shoes and Plantar Fasciitis has not returned.
Due to PF, I bought ASICS gel Kayano 30 last night and put them on at the shop only. Did some 2alku g and my back started hurting for the very 1st time. Now dreading to wear them at work.
I think I did the best job I could getting rid of my plantars fasciitis. Of course it feels like you’re walking on a broken beer bottle. Thankfully I only had it in my right foot and not both feet or I’m pretty sure I would’ve died from the pain.😩 immediately I ordered some orthotics online -that of course didn’t arrive for weeks. In the interim, I spent as much time off my feet literally in my recliner pulling my toes back to stretch out the calves. And when I wasn’t stretching, I was rolling my right foot on a freezing cold can of seltzer. It shapes to your foot and feels great. What helped me the most was buying a pair of crocs & believe it or not using the Dr. Scholl’s kiosk at the local Walmart. The kiosk directed me to stand on it, and then it shows whatever it shows & I bought the suggested inserts -put them in my crocs & immediately felt relief. The pain was gone in 3-4 Wks. Now I have inserts in my Crocs… orthotics in my flats and gel heels in my walking shoes.
Bob & Brad, Great Information, I will check my arch type tomorrow. I have been walking (17 min 1.5 mi) 3 to 6 mi for last 3 years. My right heel is giving me trouble, goes away once I get warmed up, not always. I must switch over to a good lighter weight walking shoe. I have worn out a lot of Keens low to mid ankle height hiking shoe, but I feel the quality has just gone away since 2008. Thanks
I very highly recommend the top of the line Nu Balance walking shoes with motion control. They keep changing the model numbers but for men the last pair I bought were 928’s.
Nice video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you ever tried - Taparton Walking Foot Takeover (google it)? Greetings. Great information...I really like the "wet the foot", to find out what type of shoe will fit my arch. Bill and Bob...thanks from 🇦🇺. Have a great day and week ahead.
I can tell you of a woman of 65. I wore high heels (3-4") for many years. I wore arch support shoes and they began to make my feet hurt. Instead of the first thing being my bra to take off as soon as I walked in the door, it was my shoes. LOL I now where Sketcher loafers and put gel insoles in them and way more comfortable.
I have PF, have high arches and have tried many different max cushioned shoes,. I’ve had two people at specialty shoe stores tell me I don’t need a stability shoes beaded on my arch and they say my arch has normal pronation. I went into another specialty store yesterday telling them I thought I needed a stability shoe but again they were like no you don’t. Got home with two pair of mid level cushioned neutral shoes that I wore for about 15 minutes around the house, and now have to return them. It’s very frustrating! Any advice? I’m waiting a few days to return them in hopes of getting a different salesperson. I know this place doesn’t carry Asics. Ugh.
@@stephanieasher4445 Just now saw this, sorry. I wish I could help you out. Honestly I'd have to look at your feet and evaluate you to tell you which ones to buy. That being said, it would be best if you could meet with a PT or podiatrist rather than the store salesman to make sure you're getting what you need.
Good veido. I walk everyday, I have for yrs. Just recently my heel on my left foot hurts so bad. I found you guys and started doing foot exercise. At first I thought I might be dehydrated, because it's been so hot and I can only handle so much water. I'm 71 and figured it's been alot of miles on these feet. I'm going to go get a pedicure soon. I think that will help.
I am in the u.k. I have had plantar fascities for 12 yrs for the last 3years I have been wearing SKETCHERS ARCHFIT recommended by podiatrist in the u.k. I would swear by them they are £ 130 a pair so comfortable 🇬🇧👍👍👍👍
Brad, I’m a Minneapolisan and After years of running with no care for what kinda shoes I was wearing, I suddenly started having bad pain in my big toe , exactly where your video on sesamoiditis says it is. Swelling on top of toe too. I think I got a bone spur from years of running in cheap low cushion shoes since this pain was very dull for years before. Rocker soles have been helpful!
SL Barbieri well, Im no expert but i started having the problem after 2 months of lots of inclined running than usual, with lots of impact, so i think it’s overuse. Wish i had health insurance, I’d get it examined!
I went to a dance convention and volunteered. My friend shared that she’d had PF or 5 years until a foot doctor’s nurse took her aside and said if she got Z-Coil shoes, her problems would be gone within a month. It worked so she shared it with me. It worked so I told a friend about it, and it worked for her. Vionics had not worked for my friend. Vionics are comfortable, but didn’t stop PF for me or my friend.
@N F You know what happens when you assume, right? Nope. I've worn nine and a half since high school. Even in the Infantry the Army fitted me for 9.5 for my boots and 9.5 for my dress shoes. My 9.5 running shoes fit just fine for walking around, etc. And they were fitted by Fleet Feet trained employees. But when I would run, I'd have issues. I went to a 10 running shoe and my plantar fasciitis went away and never came back.
@bob&brad I would like to see a video on proper supported sandals for summer if you guys have any suggestions. And possibly house shoes with great support.
I injured my foot badly as a child and it wasn't fixed properly. Fast forward years later I have osteoarthritis in my bone and plantar fasciitis. I'm in pain most of the time. Some days are worse than other days. A few years ago a doctor at my local hospital took plaster casts of my feet and had some insteps (or whatever you call them) made to put in my shoes. I was advised to wear them in a good pair of running shoes. Back then I was a single parent to a small child with no money so I bought a pair of Reeboks on credit from my catalogue on buy now and pay later. They were expensive but I was happy to have them. The next night I wore those shoes to work and I had to take them off to go in the water (I work as a swimming teacher and sometimes have to teach in the water) When I went to get changed I noticed my new shoes and insteps had been stolen and in their place was a pair of old worn out smelly shoes that were so disgusting I couldn't wear them. I just sat down and cried. I wasn't able to get new insteps made for me and six months later I got the bill for the shoes I never got to wear for longer than one night. I managed to get some insteps from Ebay and now I mainly have to tape up my foot almost permanently as things have got a lot worse over the years. I'm glad I can watch all these videos with tips, management, treatment etc.
I don't know how i missed this awesome video! I have to be very careful when selecting shoes, otherwise my PF will defitely flare up!! Thanks Bob & Brad!!!
I literally went today bought a pair of runners because of the pain from my PF. It’s a Brooks brand really help with my heel. Thank you love this video.💜from 🇦🇺
Orthotics shoes are great relief for PF, their variety and quality are amazing. I have bought their flats, shells, sneakers, sandals and slippers, ALL are fabulous.
I am suffering from plantar fasciitis in my left foot. I work 10 hours a day on a cement floor in a shop. I have good work boots with $90 inserts. My feet do hurt mostly in the first half of the day. Since I can't wear tennis shoes for work. What options do I have for work boots?
General recommendation (based on my own experience, and considerable layperson research): Z-coil Shoes ("footwear"), and have it professionally and personally fitted. There are several videos, available easily on Y-T, which discuss the characteristics of Z-coil shoes. In my experience, they are best bought in a brick and mortar store. They do sell work boots, also.
I’ve got bad knee problems and I used to wear Nike’s and some of them felt good , then I tried ASICS Kayano series and really liked them and wore them for the last 8years,but they’ve messed with their design,so now I’m wearing Hoka One One Bondi 7 series and I couldn’t be happier. Today I walked twice as far as I usually do with my Hoka’s on and my feet and knees felt great. I’ll probably order another pair of Hoka’s to have as backups.
I’ve been told by a Podiatrist that Hoka’s are not good shoes for PF. They have too much cushioning and slant your foot a bit forward. I was told to try Altras. Anyone else try these?
Had this horrible condition and suffered from it for around 2 years... till one night I switched to sleeping on my tummy and it went away the next morning. I guess it could be the way the arch is bent that solved it... but in a way its the opposite of the stretches recommended by the doctors and physios (which did give me temporary relief but never solved it ). Never looked back ... people who find it difficult breathing when lying on their tummy are not recommended to try this. Cheers.
Sketchers Archfit - they're new this year and they're the best pair of shoes I've ever owned. I'm on my feet all day long and the pain was getting worse and worse, so bad that I could barely walk until I bought these shoes, in three days the pain went from a Ten being the worst to a three. Some mornings when I get out of bed the pain in my heels is still there but it doesn't last long once I stretch a bit and it's not every day that I have that pain like it was before I started wearing the Archfit shoes. It's probably going take more time to heal completely, but now when walking in my Archfit shoes there's very little to no pain. I highly recommend these shoes. Stretching often during the day helps too
Had the opposite experience. They have 0 support and are mushy. You slide to the sides in these shoes, and while they are soft, they did nothing for me

Hi,how u healed ur pf,could u plz tell.
Hoka’s contribute to your PF. To narrow a toe box. Heel has too much cushioning and toe area doesn’t have enough support. It arches upwards! You actually want a shoe that is flatter with less cushioning. A Podiatrist I go to recommends Altras.
This is the way!
@henryhutchison8298 so you use xeros for everday walking and standing?
I'm glad you mentioned. Most doctors I have met, recommended cushiony shoes. My PF hasn't gotten better with all that cushioning.
It was a flat, uncushioned shoe which caused my PF and having a high arch means anything less cushioned is not going to be a good thing.
Idk how u all do it

@@sandyhosford2524hi, any relief?
Hey,how u doing now?
After five years with PF and tons of money in shoes I’ve found it’s not always the shoes but the proper inserts. And exercise, the stronger your feet get the better after healing.
Livesout Doors most definitely. I buy my shoe inserts/arch supports at The WalkingCompany. They have many
to choose from. Far superior to the custom ones I got from my podiatrist.
that's what worked for me.
Absolutely. But if you are a bigger person, the sole of the shoe needs to be your support and be stiff just like the New Balance they showed.
@@danspaghettiman right
After dealing with plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis, not only is the shoe and sole important, stretching and exercising the achilles and calf muscles are extremely important.
Thank u so much! You just saved me a bunch of money man😎
Since wearing New Balance Vaygo V2 my arch pain has gone!
I’m going to try them

So the Nike Air Shox helped cure your plantar fasciitis?
I wont touch Nike shoes. Terrible sneakers.
Nike Shox actually gave me PF. I got them too small and they tore up my feet long time ago
After a year of suffering with PF and trying multiple arch supports, steriod shots, taping, exercises, I bought a pair of original footed Birkenstocks and in a week never had that pain again. I use them all summer long and keep them out in the winter to wear if it flares up.
My Doc said not to wear my Birkenstocks...I would like to wear them again.
I wear them too and it helps my fascitis
I also use Birkenstocks inside my house and they are great. Not the best looking but the cork forms and provides great support.
Any recommendation for guy shoes ? Thanks
I found good cushion support which does not cause any problems but now I get problems bare foot. So I agree, better to fix than quick fix.. 🙂
I struggled with it for 30 years, trying all the things... I heard a podcast with Peter Attia .... PROBLEM SOLVING WITH YOUR FEET
#128 - Irene Davis, Ph.D.: Evolution of the foot, running injuries, and minimalist shoes
“Rather than have the runners adapt to the running, they took the shoe and adapted it to the runner.” - Irene Davis
this made sense to me...
you wear a neck brace when first recovering from injury, but not forever...
you have to let your foot muscles do what they are designed to do, too...
not 100% of the time to start with, but slowly retrain your foot muscles to do their job.
since then I have worn no shoes at home, and nike frees at work... minimalist shoes, in other words.
huge improvement...
We were at Cabelas aka Bass Pro Shop and I found 2 pair of Crocs sandals. Instant relief! I went on croc's site and what do ya know, many many shoes for plantar fasciitis!
Thanks.
There are a few things worth trying
Test out a natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be bought at your drug store, is a good anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in the class of plants known as Cox inhibitors. This means they help inflammation naturally.

Hoka is the best.
I have wide, flat feet and had PF about 20 yrs ago (finally needed surgery). Anyway, I was told by my podiatrist that Brooks are the best. I still wear Brooks. I've been wearing the Ariel style for the past few years. Unfortunately, they are expensive.
Z-Coil shoes are expensive, but knock out the PF within a month!
The military just got a contract with SAS to make their boots. I am so excited to see the new line-up. San Antonio is a big military town.
I love how SAS fits, but the heels of the shoes wear down very quickly. I have worn down the outside edge of the shoe in about 5 or 6 weeks. Too expensive for that.
That’s who I’m going to try :)

Same here, brooks was the winner for me.
They really are the best, so far, but they don't last long enough AT ALL. Especially the newer Ghost 15s.
I got Ghost Max’s last week and they made mine worse.
Hey everyone, the best info that ive had was with the Natural Foot Wizard (i found it on google) without a doubt the best treatment i've followed.
I find that it is very hard to get similar models of shoes over time - constant changes by New Balance
Since I wear size 15 shoes, my choices a fairly limited and no stores actually carry them in stock.
My husband has size 14-15 narrow, same issues finding shoes. When he finds one that fits I insist he buy another pair at the same time same color. Different colors will sometimes fit differently unfortunately.
Yes! This is SO frustrating!
Arcropedico shoes really help me. My arches fell and I had knee problems. Went back to this brand and feel so much better.
Vionic shoes worked amazingly and super quick for my PF problem. I want from barely walking to normal within a week
Only brand I wear!
@@TexasTourettes1hello just wondering how it went with you, didn’t it work!
@@dorawaje4427 it DEFINITELY worked!! Thanks for asking 😊 I definitely recommend this brand. I was skeptical, but I was willing to try anything because it was so bad. Thank God they worked!!
Hoka works for me. Bondi 7 or Clifton expensive yes but I'll pay for comfort all day long. Great video.
What I really need are shoes for PF that you can wear to work when athletic shoes aren't in the dress code.
Try vionic shoes
Finn comfort, sano by Mephisto, orthaheel, superfeet green orthotics
Yes exactly! I need some non slip.
Hokas are my go to’s for work and casual wear. Had been suffering with PF for over 2 years.
What about the insoles they sell at cvs?
New Balance shoes and
Chaco sandals.
My last time suffering from PF I wore Chaco sandals in the middle of our MN winter with socks on. PF disappeared in a few days.
You did not tell me what shoes are good for plantar fasciitis...for flat feet. Average arch or high arch
Vionics or damscos (sp?)
Flat: Try Asics Kayano, Hoka Arahi or Brooks Adrenaline
Average or medium try New Balance 880 fresh foam, Saucony Triumph or Mizuno Wave Rider.
High arch try Hoka Clifton, ON Cloudflow or Altra Torin..

@@Mghol1968 Thanks much appreciated. .. finally a professional answers my inquiry after one year ….
@@refatrabadi6656 very glad to help out
The best shoe I have tried are motion control such as Brooks Beast or Addiction Walker.
Superfeet insoles are amazing! More comfortable than my orthotics!
I wear Hoka Bondi L. They don’t make them anymore so I will have to try another Bondi style.
I have flat feet and I wear kayanos like you. They work for me, as they should as a pod recommended them 15 years ago.
I've had PF for years. When I find the perfect shoes I buy many pairs... also put extra cushions inside.
One doctor also provided me with 3 inch wide elastic band that goes around the middle of my foot and holds the plantar up keeping it soft... that was a live saver!
u mean the band is tied at the centre of the foot, around the plantar and the foot to keep them tight? wud appreciate an explanation or a pic thx:) got PF too
If you wear orthotics, you take the lining out put the orthotic in and than try it. I wear New Balance walking shoes. VG
Michael Sanchez Which brand of shoes made your Plantar Fasciitis go away??
Love my zero drop altra torrins. Helps a lot
For me barefoot shoes helped, been wearing Hykes Escapes and love how they feel so natural and relieve pain, I will never go back to regular shoes.
You guys are great, and all of your presentations are quite helpful

Thanks Bob and Brad for the shoe information! Very down to earth in your episodes! We appreciate , "real"!🤗
The shoes that immediately stopped my 5 month problem with PF were Sketchers with memory foam!
I am researching about Gel Kayano 30. Not sure if they would help.
Did the gel in nimbus help you relieve the pain?
@naveenqureshi1365 I am fully recover mate, within 1 month pain was almost gone. It's being 2 years since I am fully recovered. Now wear normal shoes, run and play with no issue.
Gel nimbus 22 means?
@@rukshanabegam7540 those are asics shoes type

Just bought a pair of San Antonio Shoes. (SAS). Most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. Glad I read the comments.
What’s the brand?
@@jeffjeff8393 Avia is the Walmart brand . They used to be a big brand in the 80's ... As far as pricier shoes Merrell Moabs seem to last long. The Avias last just as long as the more expensive tennis shoes. I am standing more and not walking or running as much though, but if your feet hurt after 2 or 3 months for just 20 to 24 dollars just buy another pair or as many as you want.
@@nomad7482 cheers thanks!
Jordan’s. They do well for me. Also I used keen boots they lasted about 2 months
I tried podiatrists, chiropractors, massage therapy, but The Good Feet store fixed my issues. I like that it’s lifetime and you use whatever shoes you prefer.
They are very expensive
I have spent months researching into plantar foot treatments and discovered a great website at Rohon foot care (check it out on google)
There are a few ideas for cures for plantar fasciitis
Try to rest your feet
Consider Wearing supportive footwear
Try ice on your heel
Try ibuprofen or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug to lessen pain and inflammation
Wear night splints
Try stretching and strengthening exercises.
(I discovered these and why they work on Rohon foot care website )
@RealFarknMcCoy I also love my Asics! I have super-high arches & very narrow heels. These shoes keep my feet very stable. So worth the $$$.
@@esterixis Hi what is the name of that shoe - style ? Thanks
REI shoe department has a tool to measure arch and then recommended which insole would be best. Keen shoe helped cure my PF
Which model Keen? I'm looking at this brand.
I stretched my calf muscles out. 4 streches , 8 minutes a day gone in one week. These guys treat symptoms not the problem. Your calf muscles need stretched ,thats how you treat PF
Thanks you for explaining it i recently got plant fas now trying to find shoes that will help with it thank. Great video 👍
I wear the all black Hoka's that miniminze the appearance of the tall stack height.
Thanks thanks thanks Joy Overley

@@nandini1977hey,how long it takes to make things better.
Great content and super helpful. BTW. They are called Manila envelopes .... not vanilla. They were developed in the Philippines back in the1920’s.
Thanks for everything you do to help people on YT
Hi, are u completely pain free now?

I'm an over pronator but I do well with a stability shoe (Asics).... I'm also a physical therapist.
It could be a ganglion cyst too.
Vionics are comfortable, but didn’t stop PF for me or my friend.
glad you also did show-and-tell with the shoes.
I had plantar fasciitis and was told to go up one shoe size. It worked.
The next night I wore those shoes to work and I had to take them off to go in the water (I work as a swimming teacher and sometimes have to teach in the water)
When I went to get changed I noticed my new shoes and insteps had been stolen and in their place was a pair of old worn out smelly shoes that were so disgusting I couldn't wear them.

Before u get out of bed in the a.m., bend ur toes under against the mattress while laying on ur stomach. Stretch that fascia before u step on it.
That's some unique information, thank you Bob & Brat for sharing
I have Plantar Fasciitis and I swear by Hokas. They are amazing!
I owned a pair of clifton 7s... never have my feet hurt so bad in my entire life. My 30 dollar nikes felt better...
Stretching often during the day helps too
Agree! I switched to these shoes for work this year and my feet are so relieved.
Had the opposite experience. They have 0 support and are mushy. You slide to the sides in these shoes, and while they are soft, they did nothing for me
