This is a prime example of why these kinds of videos are so useful. I was going to have the Langdon Tactical conversion on my PX4 full size. I do not like the standard decocking levers and was going to go with the suggested stealth levers that are part of the conversion package. However, after watching Chris' demonstration of the difficulty with the stealth levers, I followed his lead and chose the 92 style lever on the left, leaving the stealth lever on the right. Great decision! It substantially lowers the profile of the levers making the overhand grip for racking gouge-free, but the 92 lever is much more user-friendly. With a DA/SA handgun, where one wants to put in a lot of practice on the double action, having a smooth and easy decocker promotes that practice. The Langdon conversion makes the firearm better. One of the reasons I went with it is the simple fact that I trust and respect Chris' opinion. He didn't steer me wrong with the conversion and he definitely steered me in the right direction with the suggestion on the decocking lever. Pay attention UA-cam. I've been carrying the PX4 storm subcompact .40cal in the fall months for about 8yrs, it's probably my favorite sidearm to carry, shoots so smooth that before you know it the clip is empty.
Chris, I also carry a 40cal PX4 Subcompact. Every day every where. I love the "horsepower to weight ratio" of this little gun! Real Bang for the Buck you could say. 👍👍🤠

Great as always Chris! Between this and re-reading the scout rifle thread, I've pretty much settled for the foreseeable future on my firearm requirements.
Love my px4 compact. Wonder why it is so underrated. Just shot 640 rounds at the range, trying to get a FTE. Nothing! Kudos to Beretta. This is a wonderful and very reliable pistol. Cheer.
I fell in love with this gun last week. Ordered it off of gunbroker today. Can't wait to shoot it. I've watched pretty much every video I could find on UA-cam about the Compact Carry. And this is the best one. Thank you.
Great underrrated pistol. It's almost as small as a sub but still you have a 15 rds mag. And I think that the rotating barrell really does what it's supposed to do: reduce recoil. Besides it's pretty heavy for being so small, the slide is pretty thick and I personally like that, it feels you have something consitent in your hands and reduces recoil. I just love it.
Having a full size Storm in .40 S&W, it was a natural to go to a Sub Compact in the same caliber for my ccw. I'm making several similar mods my SC, starting with the levers, main spring, and talon side panels.
Wow. I didn't realize this model had such support. I've been looking to switch over to an autoloader for carry... what has held me back is that I couldn't get behind striker fired autoloaders for ccw; I just feel that they are an accidental discharge waiting to happen - what between re-holstering and the often overlooked draw but don't fire scenario. Beretta has seemed to have done well here. All of that aftermarket support and what you get out of the box seems quite awesome.
For the last 8 months or so this has been my carry gun as well. I first became interested in it watching your review of the regular compact version. I really like it. I have shot about 2500 rounds through mine and have not had any issues at all. My only wish is that the rear sight was U notch as that is my preferred sight picture. Other than that though, great gun!
California native here. In a parallel assessment, I've moved to a compact sharp stick, much more comfortable. But I heard it'll be outlawed later this year...
I just hold my breath until I pass out. Then I let the criminal or mugger take what they want from me :) so much easier than offending them with the stick. Sharp or dull :)
I carry plastic straws and throw them on the ground. Police arrive immediately to arrest me, thus limiting my exposure to the bad guy as the police cuff and haul be off to jail for felony illegal plastic straw distribution.
I love this gun but for width and concealability I went with the XD-E and surprise, surprise Langdon Tactical makes a trigger package for that, too. It's apples and oranges but I was so happy that a company released a thin SA/DA that I had to jump on it. I carry the XD-E every day doing A/C in SW Florida in a Stealthgear appendix holster. That all being said, I still want this pistol.
Thanks for the review! I'm 50/50 right now on a Px4 Compact Carry and a CZ P75 C-01 Compact as my next carry gun. I hit UA-cam today to watch a few hours of videos before making up my mind. I already have an M9A3 which made me a Beretta fan, but I've heard great things about CZ as well.
Excellent review, Chris. I concur with installing the 92 series levers as they work very well, and I no longer worry about raking my hand over the stock levers. As I have never felt comfortable with grip tape of any make, I had my PX4 stippled. With no draw interference and a solid purchase, it was a worthwhile investment. Thank you for the presentation, and thank you for all your hard work.
this review, as well as several others, are what convinced me to buy the PX4CC (9mm). While I bought it used, I had it out today for its maiden voyage with me. 125 rds through with -0- malfunctions. I was able to run about 75 rds of crap aluminum case without a hiccup when my SA 9mm and Beretta Nano couldn’t pull off more than 2 rds without a malfunction. Sights are good and the biggest issue for me is the DA/SA trigger. My precious duty guns have typically been striker, my previous CCW was either a SAO or DA revolver. The LONG initial DA pull took some getting used to as did the light SA follow up. Recoil was more than I expected (after having listened to others) but still very manageable. I’m very pleased with my CCW purchase and am looking forward to putting more rds down range as I learn the DA/SA skill set.
Thanks for this review. I was literally waiting for your input before I got this gun. I wanted a solid opinion from someone that I feel is competent, so I patiently waited for you to make this video. Thanks man, really appreciate this, I'm gonna get this by the end of the month.
I initially bought the PX4 compact over a Glock 19. And As much As I wanted to like it, I havent been able to adapt to its slick side grips and I'm not very accurate. This is subjective, but Im much better with my P30SK or P229 E2. With that said, I really like the PX4 so much that Im not giving up on it just yet, I just installed some rubber grips and will take it to the shooting range, and see how it goes. Great review by the way, I really enjoy your videos.
I’m glad you finally made this review. I’d been waiting on it. I was quite literally waiting on your approval to buy it. Now to break the news to the wife. 😩
Glad to see someone else loves the PX4 as much as I do. I have had an original PX4 since release, and it has been flawless over thousands of rounds. Maybe time to drop the G26 EDC and grab one of these babies.
My wife has the non cc version and it's a great shooter and very reliable. We had a few FTE with the first 200 rounds but started using Mil Comm grease on the slide and it now cycles perfectly. Thousands of rounds and no problems. I would trust it for EDC.
Picked up the 365 today at my local gun shop. Couldn't buy it due to the fact that they have 20 of them already on back order. It feels really good to me, and I have the 938 and a Micro 9. Might have to wait until things settle down and buy one.
Rollin Jones you can pre-order one at Brownell‘s for $499. That’s what I’ve done. I’m also waitlisted at my local dealer. I’m third but if I don’t get it from him he will let me buy the new PPQ subcompact so I don’t lose my deposit.
Thank you for such an honest review. Love the slight improvements you have made to the pistol. Looks like a great carry piece for us odd balls that like the DA/SA handguns.
+Sergey Rodionov A DA/SA gun should be decocked every time the sights come off the target. In a practice session, that's a lot of decocking and I would prefer to not have to break my firing grip to do it.
one of the best edc carry handguns out there. excellent double action trigger and very very... very accurate. After testing/using many edc carry handguns... this could be the best. this outstanding handgun does not get the attention of some others, but highly recommended
Nice and honest review! Appreciating the noted upgrades. Would love to test one at the range for a couple hundred of rounds!. But as a person with a back injury, would be willing to enjoy a re-introduction of their M1951 - 9mm, eight +1, maybe a 4.25" bbl., same 9mm ballistics and not quite as heavy. Thanks, Mike
Excellent review! I really like the personal input on what Beretta has... and how you use their items. As well as you added some really good stuff to accommodate the pistol for yourself.
great review. i just bough the compact model and everything upgrade you said im gonna. get for mine. i tried to get the compact carry model but apparently that didnt exist to the dealer. your right it is gonna take a pretty penny to do and some of them are mandatory for my wife to have a proper feel for the gun. she already cut her finder on the decocker and the grip is so slick she doesnt have a proper hold on the gun so she limp wrists it alot and the gun jams constantly.
Excellent review! I also own this pistol which I use for home defense. I wanted it to be my EDC, but the slippery grip (even though with the Tallo grips) was not good enough compared to my Sig P229 Legion 9mm. I recently bought the “Pachmayr Tactical Rubber Grip Glove for Beretta PX4 Storm 05160” and it feels much better grip purchase ( I recommend it.) I believe the PX4 Compact Carry could be better all around than my P229 Legion if it wouldn’t have the slippery grip from factory.
Great review thank you Sir. My PX4 compact has the low profile slide stop & stealth levers. I decock using thumb & forefinger. I installed the Wilson spring & Talon rubber grips. With the right AIWB holster it's concealable & comfortable. Awesome gun to shoot! I just need more money for the Trijicon night sights & maybe cerakote the slide. Very confidence inspiring pistol.
Great review! I have a full size PX4 Type G LE demo w/ Trijicon night sights in 40 S&W I recently installed the stealth decockers. I pack the 140 gr Barnes TAC-XPD ammo and a Wintrhrop pancake style leather OWB holster. I use lightweight bullets to save weight and enhance control for EDC. The PX4 is a bit too thick in width for me for IWB concealed carry, so I use it OWB in fall and winter months. Overall I love it. With soft recoil I can shoot all day with no fatigue.
I just got my PX4 Storm Compact Carry through Buds this week and wow! I put 250 rnds through it today and I absolutely love it. Great shooter and great size. Now to get a couple of holsters for it and find a weapon light that will fit.
I am new to your channel but really like your review style , In fact I bought a Px4 compact carry today can't wait to shoot it and see how it compairs to my beloved CZ p07!!
Chris, I always enjoy your professional content and information. I hope you will continue to review pistols, especially hammer models. I originally was awaiting your review on the Px4 CC when Springfield came out with their new XD-E... and it has the amazing grip of the mod 2. Now I am resorting to begging for you to have a comparison with the XD-E. You have much more experience with Hammer fired pistols as well as the professional presentation you have on youtube. Something many firearms reviewers lack.
You cannot go wrong with the XD-E. I carried an XD-S because I drank the striker fired koolaid. However took a class from Spencer Keepers and the DA/SA. Now have a PX4 Storm Compact Carry.
At the prison I used to work at, they were transitioning from .38 revolvers to these. Only got to shoot one once and I really took a liking to it. Wish I would've bought one then.
I was wondering when you were going to review this since i was a big fan of your px4 reviews. And you did most of these changes already. I can't wait to get mine. I carry xd-e but think ill prefer this
It's Kyuu How do you like the XDE? I have been debating between it and the PX4. Right now I carry a double action Walther and I want something different.
Nicholas Schumacher well px4 holds 5 more shots and is probably more comfortable in the hand. That being said my XDE is very accurate even at 25 yards i was very surprised. I like the internals they chose and i got it with a rebate sending me 4 free magazines. If between regular px4 and xde then go xde. If between xde and compact carry px4.. then get compact carry.
I'm not a reviewer but my Storm has eaten all of the crappiest ammo I fed through it, if that says anything. Also I had to try really hard to get a failure to eject. I was kinda messing around, but even if I limp wrist it then it never fails. Also, I really don't clean it like I should. Basically I'm not a good firearm owner, but the Storm is forgiving haha.
I’ve shot the PX4 Storm again this year (last time was around my mid 20s and 34 y/o now). All I can say is that I should’ve held it better back then. Now I’m VERY ACCURATE with this. Only thing I still don’t like about this is the long DA trigger pull and the wide grip, taking me extra time to fix my grip (at least my hands are big to the point it really isn’t difficult to grasp). I love the look of this and this is why I chose to rent it in my mid 20s.
I also decock with support hand on guns other than sig's. Its impossible to strong side decock with some CZ levers and the rear mounted HK button. Support side just makes sense for many guns.
Gotta love the 3913 mag. Just shot my PX4cc last night. Thing pulls some impressive groups. I've put just under 2000 rounds through mine in the past year or so... never a hiccup. Always exceeds accuracy expectations. I did opt for a lower rear sight from Ameriglo--POI was a bit high... kind of a 6:00 hold. The lower notch helps, and drops the shots right on POA. Love the gun. But I also love my 92c. One never really wins out...
Chris, have you ever fired a Walther P99AS or it's smaller brother, the P99C? They check off the same (important) boxes - DA/SA w/ decocker, double stack, lightweight. Yet they have a lower bore axis due to their being striker fired rather than hammer fired. And the trigger in single action is incredibly similar to that of the PPQ that ultimately replaced the P99 here in the states.
I put grip tape for steps by 3M. Its a little thick, but my extra large hands with large back strap works great. I tried "sharp" shipping and found it a little slick for dry carpenter hands.....just my 2 cents.
Have you ever considered the cz p01 compact? Omega version only needs vz g10 grips and night sights. IMHO it may be the best compact SA/DA options out there.
Awesome review and yes I do fall into that category whom prefers double/single action trigger pistols than the new striker fired variants. Beretta is always quality and I may try and get one of these soon
I just got a P99C AS for $360 OTD! I was previously eyeing a P07 as well, but I may just pick it up later on as a second pistol primarily for home defense...OR the PPQ Classic.
Lucky Gunner Ammo have you had a chance to check out a P99c AS? Excellent carry option that may also have many attributes you are looking for in a AIWB gun. I’ve shot the PX4 Storm a few times and really like it. Very flat shooting low felt recoil. I also own an APX which I really like.
As someone who carries a CZ P01 I do find it intersting that we are in that small group of DA/SA lovers. May need to get a px4 someday to try our, but I doubt I'll be leaving my P01!
Agree 100% with you, it's an amazing gun. Instead of cutting the grips it comes with try the Tractiongrips you can find on Amazon. It has that same nice grip you want but without it covering the back of the grip, thus no trimming.
Excellent review I did the same that you have done what the original compact competition trigger Hammer D spring night sights tritium I love my gun as soon as I finished couple weeks later Beretta introduced a Compact Carry like wow Beretta LOL keep up the great review
That gun looks like a winner. I would love to see it compared to a CZ P-07. Maybe also an HK P30 or P2000. There are only a few polymer DA/SA options out there.
Very curious of your thoughts on the sub compact version of the PX4 Storm. I know you love this gun but the consensus seems to be the sub compact version is even better for EDC
Hey Chris! I dig all you px4 storm videos. I was wondering if you ever had the chance, could you please make a video on how you switched the de-cocker on the left side only? Please and thank you!
I really love this gun. Every time I shoot it I feel like I'm cheating on my 92s with their younger sister, some guilt but it carries easier and I flat out shoot it better, if I buy a handgun this year it's going to be another PX4CC.
So, had my heart set on an HK P30SK (the "other" DA/SA polymer gun). But this review has me now considering the Px4 compact. Do you feel the Px4 is a superior platform to the HK?
Can not comment on the Baretta. Never shot one let alone owned on. My favorite pistol in my small collection is the H&K VP9. However the VP9 is a large gun and not an easy IWB carry gun for a muffin top. If you are looking at the P30SK, also look at the VP9SK unless you are set on a hammer rather than a striker fired gun. The paddle mag release may be a bit hard to swallow at first, but after a few mags you realized it is 100 times better than a button release. No looking down, no changing grip. I just find the SK is too small for my large hands. I carry OWB and just leave a shirt untucked. One of the benefits of being retired! LOL
This is also my (almost) edc. Found it conceals better than more squared off guns. What spring did you use for the hammer spring, I replaced mine with the Wilson combat #12 hammer spring. Love this gun.
Is there any way one can file off the sharp, porcupine grip on the front and back, to make it similar to the original Smith and Wesson M&P grip? If so, that will make choosing this good conceal carry option much more manageable! If only there's a way to reverse the slide stop, like you would with the magazine release.
Have this in the 40 compact with about 2000 rds thru it and never had a problem. Made it a g model with the flush decocker and trijicon hd sights. With a jm custom iwb holster it hides great. Love this gun
I have one and love it. I changed the decocker to the a 92FS decocker and Hogue grips. But my fingers ar long and my thumb hits the slider release. So I had to change my grip.

I prefer the subcompact pointed stick in flat dark earth. Magpul has a new grip coming out for it.
I just hold my breath until I pass out. Then I let the criminal or mugger take what they want from me :) so much easier than offending them with the stick. Sharp or dull :)
Rubber bands still legal out there?
I carry plastic straws and throw them on the ground. Police arrive immediately to arrest me, thus limiting my exposure to the bad guy as the police cuff and haul be off to jail for felony illegal plastic straw distribution.
Does it take Glock mags!?
Who did the stippling?
Have fun finding one. I got hooked on the barrel with a cougar 8000 pawn shop find for $255.
this review, as well as several others, are what convinced me to buy the PX4CC (9mm).
Lots more glowing reviews from respected reviewers. Have not seen any negatives. Plus the gun is a workhorse if you want to shoot a lot.
I guess I’ve been living under a rock and didn’t bear about this until now. Thank you for the great review.
Another first class review of a popular pistol. I’m looking forward to reviews of Sig’s new handgun the P365. Take care
You are a great presenter! Great information. I just purchased the PX4 Storm in 9MM so will be researching your recommendations.
Nice review, but I kinda disagree on bigger decocker, why do you need to decock fast?
+Sergey Rodionov A DA/SA gun should be decocked every time the sights come off the target. In a practice session, that's a lot of decocking and I would prefer to not have to break my firing grip to do it.
Lucky Gunner Ammo I see your point , thanks
one of the best edc carry handguns out there. excellent double action trigger and very very... very accurate.
Might be my next handgun. I have the full size PX4 and would love the compact carry for conceal carry.
Chris, best reviews on YT hands down... really.
AT LONG LAST THE REVIEW WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR
Great looking concealed carry.. I have the sub compact and want this! Great review and video.
Anyone else love the "opening Zippo" sound at the beginning of every video?
I am new to your channel but really like your review style , In fact I bought a Px4 compact carry today can't wait to shoot it and see how it compairs to my beloved CZ p07!!
Have a 9mm and 40. Only complaint are the sights. Already replaced the 9mm sights. Now my favorite pistol
Wow production value here
Great review. Always wanted to try a Px4 but a full size. Dont think a Px4 would replace my HK P2000 for my carry gun.
Very detailed video and high quality! I wish most channels are like this.
Kind of wish I'd seen this before I bought my sig p365xl but don't know what the price difference would be? 🤔
thank you for supporting the active self protection channel
Px4 Compact capacity is 6 or 7 shots greater than the XDe, depending on which XDe magazine is used.
Lucky Gunner Ammo you are correct i was thinking beretta was 14+1 for some reason.
That was an excellent review and filled with good advice on the why or why not of an option or feature.
Great video I have a px4 Storm....the older version ....love it I wouldn’t change a thing on it..9mm compact....bad to the bone
I also decock with support hand on guns other than sig's. Its impossible to strong side decock with some CZ levers and the rear mounted HK button. Support side just makes sense for many guns.
Have carried a px4 subcompact for over 5 years, a little big with the double stack clip, but the 13+1 is a good thing to have if shit hits the fan
Grand Power P11, P1D, k100 also use a rotating barrel system.
I really would like to see if Beretta would release a compact version of their APX model
+SinLaw I carried one for a while. It was the first gun I did any serious training with. They are nice guns, but I prefer the Beretta.
Awesome review and yes I do fall into that category whom prefers double/single action trigger pistols than the new striker fired variants. Beretta is always quality and I may try and get one of these soon
Try using your support hand thumb for the decock lever. That's how I decock my P-07 and Walther P99C AS (both of which I carry AIWB).
I don't want to.
It has that same nice grip you want but without it covering the back of the grip, thus no trimming.
i carry a CZ 2075 rami. This would be perfect for something thats a little lighter weight and retains the double action/single action abilities.
and decocker
Glad to see you're back. Great vids.
Can the ambi slide catch be added to the Compact Carry? The left side only isn't great for lefties.
Hey Chris! I dig all you px4 storm videos. I was wondering if you ever had the chance, could you please make a video on how you switched the de-cocker on the left side only? Please and thank you!
I'm pretty sure there are already a few videos on that. I think maybe Mr GunsandGear has one.
Best gun channel there is. Thanks!
I haven't tried the HK P30SK. The P30 is a great pistol, though. It's just a matter of which gun has the features you prefer.
Great review. This is my EDC too. I love this thing. I may replace the trigger spring now that you mentioned it (ha).
I just moved to AZ and looking for an EDC. This review is super helpful.
Is there any way one can file off the sharp, porcupine grip on the front and back, to make it similar to the original Smith and Wesson M&P grip? If so, that will make choosing this good conceal carry option much more manageable! If only there's a way to reverse the slide stop, like you would with the magazine release.
Hi Chris Baker. Please do a review on the CZ po7 gen 2, or a comparison with the px 4.
Just ordered one I pick it up on the 25th can’t wait
Just purchased one and man it's and great quality money well spent gun,
Have this in the 40 compact with about 2000 rds thru it and never had a problem.
