And of course, thank you all for watching. Crash Twinsanity is a game that's very special to me, and the speedrun is a very big factor in that. I'm very happy that I was finally able to tell its story, and I hope you all enjoy learning about it as much as I've enjoying observing its evolution over the years.
You are a legend. I wish more creators bothered to list songs used in their videos in the comments/description.
"We require 6 Power Crystals in order to make the leap, and we have... 4. Hmm, let's see... That isn't enough! All is lost! ...Unless...!"
As it turns out, we actually only needed 1.
i will die on the hill that Twinsanity Cortex is peak Cortex design and personality
@@alkatraztsubasaAgreed. They absolutely nailed the design. And most of the jokes too.
This was peak Nina too.
She was evil and smart like Cortex (Leaving a dummy in her bed to sneak out of school, destroying the school in rooftop rampage).
but non-verbal, reckless and naive like Crash (she seems way too excited in the rockslide rumble art, and during the final boss. Does she even realize she's in danger?)
Overall, Nina feels like a child who's growing up to be more like her dipshit 'uncle' than her Dad despite never actually meeting that uncle until now. It's kinda adorable.
@@SuperSillyKitten TBH Cortex was just delivering "Voice of God" throught all the game, most of his dialogue is compressed and several times it is definitely the Devs mocking whatever is going on because there was no time to adjust anything too much.
The 4th wall breaks are definitely just them complaining about the worst parts about behind-the-scenes work. Like WoC not selling that well or the deadline ruining all of the plans about content that they definitely could have added with a year and a half or two more.
Great vid man, happy to be a part of it and hopefully there's more game-breaking skips to come! PacAttack
Dude you appeared in the video!
A living legend came to say hello
I came in and out of my car
JOESTERRRRR
Legend
Man i remember fountain skip. I think it was no joke one of the hardest skips that was "technically viable" on the PS2. The people who played Twinsanity, Pull, Qjere, Redhot etc. were some of the most skilled speedrunners out there and for it to stump even them goes to show how absolutely insane the skip was.
I also remember when Dimension skip was discovered and the rush to lower the record with the new route. It was an exciting time to be watching the game.
Great job on the video Riko you did the game justice. This is just one of those games that needs a speedrun history video, not just because its "someones speedgame of choice and i like it" but because it is a marvel in glitch hunting and sequence breaking as a whole. The slightly rushed nature of the games development left speedrunners with a canvas that was meant to be broken. It's beautiful
it definitely is indeed
jeg kan god lide spiller med nødder
Agreed 💯
looking forward to your next video/ part 6 cant wait your doing a great job bro
Didn't you support rwhitegoose, the nazi?
The nut skip era was so hype and then it just got even better. Gotta love how everyone around the world contributed to this. Great great memories, truly the best community 🙏
Cursed Splash is the sole reason that Twinsanity Spinless is possible.
I should know; I spent a whole week trying.
I'm not gonna lie, I burst out laughing at the revelation at 44:04, all this trick, precise stuff that ends up being non-viable RTA. And the solution? Just... Turn around.
One of the most beautiful things about this game’s history lol. More than once the solution was just incredibly mundane. 😂
One of the funniest parts of speedrunning is that everyone gets so used to every solution being super complicated that they overlook something so comically simple.
Gotta make sure the red spy ain't anywhere in or on the base.
Great video my dude! You honored the Twinsanity community so well. So happy to be apart of it! I remember when I first joined the community in back in 2013. Twinsanity never ends!
I love how so many speed runners from the community show up here. Its like seeing veterans show up and talking about their war days lol
So much history, and not only was I around to see most of it, I contributed. Still can't believe it to this day. Here's to hoping either something new and big pops up, or we see something no one's gonna believe in the near future
Any chance for a sub 10 minute time?
@@meer9159 Without new major discoveries, no
Gz on sub 10:40 btw 😊
I remember my grandmother bought me a three pack of Crash Bandicoot games for me that included this game, Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing. I have a lot of memories playing those games and I loved playing them. I was only a casual player of this game and never realized how broken this game was or how broken.
Funny, the same thing happened to me, except it was my grandfather who got it for me
the penny theme from SV starting at 46:00 or so jumpscared the hell out of me, wasn't expecting modern pokemon music in a crash speedrunning video lmao.
banger track tho, and banger video too!
Riko, 1hour video AND Twinsanity, this literally couldnt get any better
Also, its crazy to know that Twinsanity is turning 20 this year
So the next run will be 0 minutes and 0 seconds!? Wow, can't wait for that run!
I have been eagerly watching Twinsanity speedruns on and off for years now but I was extremely hooked last year in particular. Seeing you and Gpro dash for the first cursed warp 100% record was truly a thrilling thing to experience and that was just the beginning when it came to Twins developments last year. Speedruns for this game are weirdly enthralling to watch and I look forward to watching this video.
Learning about the early history of the run was fascinating!!! So much about routes I didn't even know about due to how far back they were used. Awesome video, I'm honestly very humbled by the remix being used in such a cool and relevant part of the timeline, and I enjoyed the watch through and through. Good stuff Riko :D!!
How on earth do you only have 7k subs? Let's take this channel to the MOON. Your content is S tier.
I cant tell you how much i been wantin a vid like this and sm finally drops it 🙏
So true, this is one of the rare games I always come back to to see the speedrun progress even after so many years. Used to laugh the any% run, still do, but the 100% run shows so much sick tech too.
Will watch the vid soon, only early in but seems good!
100% twinsanity was the first time i ever learned how to speedrun a game and it was really fun (any% was too hard because of fountain skip lol)
Had this linked to me by a friend because CTS was one of my favorite entries in the series and I still own my physical copy of it from well over 15ish years ago. It was such an absolute banger. Great video and awesome showcases! Also really enjoyed the background music choices, will be reading the pastebin for that one.
Thanks for reminding me of this awesome and fun game. I really wish for it to get a truely deserving remake - it is just such an absolute vibe. ^.^
My favorite childhood game! So happy yt recommended me this so early! ❤❤❤
After watching this video, I can safely say that I have qualified for a degree in Twinsics, cuz holy crap the history behind this game's speedrunning material is spinelessly insane. Well done on the coverage, Riko. You're amazing.
Sometimes I wish I had discovered speedruns sooner and your video is definitely one of these times Riko. Awesome video man, so much information and cool techs showcased that got me hyped for the 100% history in the future.
But now I gotta watch the other history videos about Crash AND the vods of the runs of Twinsanity, but first gotta thank all of you for the contents to watch about a game I played casually in the past and didn't know it was so good to see it break that much 😁
Something so cool about knowing that the latest progress on the game was just a month or so ago.
Good luck to anyone trying for sub-10 👍
Damn I know TwinSanity is bugged, but I don't know to what extent it's bugged lmao. It's crazy for these speedrunners to execute such meticulous techs that I'd just shrug off as some bugs lol.
great video man. Very well told! keep it up man
I'm so happy my favorite game of all time got the world record history treatment! Keep it up homie
Respect
HELL YEAH!! I was waiting for someone to do a speedrunning history vid of this game, and you def did it justice! great work :D
Fantastic video man, I'm so happy that this was the game I chose to seriously run back in the later half of 2020(even if it meant I had my... ups and downs with All Levels). Can't wait for whatever happens next with the game and for your next video 🌰
Crash Twinsanity is one of my favorite ps2 games when I was a kid.
Early 2018 to late 2020 I was super into it when I came back to play it and discovered this whole community of people that loved breaking the game and discovering awesome tricks and skips that I thought were incredible.
I used a lot of these skips when I played casually with my friend back in the day and he was fascinated by it all, I loved practicing the skips even though I wasn’t a speed runner, I just had a deep fondness for Twinsanity, and always wondered what the world record for the game really was.
After seeing this video, it blew my mind seeing all the improvements after acorn skip, I never thought that the game’s skips would be improved further.
I always wished the game developers had more time to do what they envisioned with the game, but seeing where we are now with the game, I couldn’t be happier.
Maybe someday the run will reach under 10 minutes, who knows.
Amazing video, 10 outta 10.
I never cleared that Walrus chase as a kid and knowing it's considered one of the hardest chases in the franchise heals my fractured soul.
Penguinz0 has your video open on his stream, I think he'll watch it soon! Prepare for his army lol
hes had it open in his tabs for the past month bro lmao
23:55 why did you have to hit us with that Lingering Will PTSD (I LOVE THAT THEME ANYWAYS).. I loved the vid though it was a nice documentary
Very good video, the craziest day ever segment was absolutely insane and what happened over the past year alone was cool to witness live. Still waiting for the day someone finds an Ant Agony warp.
Maybe someday.
Also, can’t wait for the 100% video.
I always love when a channel with in depth crash content is discovered by the YT algorithm. great content!
Always loved the speedrun of this game over the years, just got more and more insane as every big new discovery ushered in a wave of hunting that WR

One was sexual misconduct. The other was transphobia.
@@RikoKSB Ewww :x I'm glad they're gone from the community
@@RikoKSBwho are them?
@@blueplatinumrosalina1371 Look at the leaderboards
It's an awesome pleasure to see what the community managed to achieve in over 10 years. An unforgettable game for anyone who witnessed and experienced its progression.
World record history is such an interesting thing to watch
UA-cam recommended this and it was an instant click for me. So well made speedrun history video and from a game I grew up with! Love watching speedruns although never have time to try them myself and well made long format history videos are such a treat!
1:01:25 Idk why but the way you built up the music in this bit gave me chills especially when it hit me that GPro was one the recurring glitch hunters
Thanks for this, been out of the loop for twins runs past 2019. Yall have done the game good. Looking forward to that 100% history documentary.
43:55 The fact that the solution was as simple as "walk out of the area and walk back in" and it took 2 months after Dimension Skip was discovered for anyone to think of trying it, truly beautiful
Just gonna leave a comment to say I appreciate the production value and effort that went into this video. Crazy entertaining to watch.
can't wait for the 100% category video ! love your style of videos man! keep it up
incredible video!!! seeing the history of one of my favourite games from my childhood, a game i haven't played or thought about in a very long time was a surreal experience. Thank you for taking the time to document and create this video and thank you to all the runners/glitch hunters for making it possible.
This is an absolutely fantastic video, i have subscribed and looking forward to future content!
This game was my favorite crash game when i was a child. Two years ago i replay it finally and... yeah... You call feel the development troubles, this game become painfully frustrating, but the opening stage is so good that make me wander what this game could have been.
great to have more context about one of the most overlooked crash games. My first ever WR exposed to was Joestars back in the 20 min of the any% run
Seeing any video covering Twinsanity's speedrunning is a dream come true, let alone one as extensive as this. WITH Croc 2 music as just the cherry on top. Legit feels like a video tailor-made for me, through sheer chance. Love it.
older video game coding and data processing logic is why i love speedruns , i cant explain it but im not into newer game runs like how i am with runs like these . the complexity and weird reactions the game gives you based on the players inputs , the hypotheticals with TAS runs . its all so interesting seeing it happen in real time .
I’ve speedran this game for a few years. Nice to see you’ve made a video on it!
it brings me great pleasure to say they definitely took inspiration from jak and daxter, NAUGHTY DOG just knows how to make a platformer
Great video about one of my favorite childhood games! Can't wait for the 100% video!
Yoo I've always wanted a speedrunning analysis vid on twins, glad it's doing well!
This just makes Twinsanity even more interesting! Nice video!
Holy hek another super amazing video Riko! I look forward to seeing more content!
Twinsanity speedrun has been on my mind for a while now, just because I've been in the mood to watch speedrun history videos for old PS2 era games or challenge videos for games like RE. Man did this video come out at such a good time for me haha. Great video and can't wait for the 100% one.
Even as a kid I always knew how absolutely easy it was to sequence break this game, and I’ve been wanting a video breaking the whole history down of all the ways speedrunners would break it even further than I ever could for years. This was such a delight to watch, thank you so much!
Great video. I grew up playing this, so seeing this video was exciting since I feel no-one talks about this awesome game
Banger video, I love seeing my childhood shattered into pieces
Wasn't expecting PSASBR music in here, this brought back many memories.
I just love spiralmouth.
Nut to go for it!
21:07 "yo these edibles ain't sh-"
This game is easily in my top 3 all time favorites, I can't believe I'm just catching up today but tbh I'm just happy I do rn
This video helps tremendously, loved it through and through amazing job mate
Hey nice video, thanks for explaining these crazy skips, im always amazed with Twinsanity
Twinsanity runs were part of the reason why I wanted to find glitches myself. The way the speedrunners broke this game was shocking. To find out there was new tech that made 10:xx possible is crazy. Great Video.
P.S. SmartKin is also a pretty well known figure in the “I wanna” fangame community with games like I wanna Come to the Conclusion that uses Crash music in certain sections.
I like that I recognized almost all the music used for the background of this video.
You Sir, have good taste.
My childhood game. I was never into speedrunning, no one was in those days. but i just liked to go out of bounds and find skips on levels on my own :D this game allowed for alot of out of bounds stuff. For me it all started when i found a way to skip the second boss, it was so fun and i was so proud that i started to try all kinds of things :D
I remember hating the crap out of this game because it lets you sequence break backwards. One time i thought i found a shortcut, but it was just a one way ticket to LITERALLY CP0 myself
I have been wanting a video like this for years and finally it happened
The stillframe with the lightbulb graphic was *amazing*
20:53 Well that was beyond comprehension.
I love the history and breakthrough of this. It’s always interesting to see how broken and unfinished this game is. I’ve been (somewhat) following the speed run since 2019. With Ant Agony now being the only playable level, I wonder if someone will find a quicker way to beat the level and the Evil Twins.
What a fantastic video, I remember fondly watching NikkaA's streams of speedrunning the game and it made me just so fascinated by it I tried some of the skips by myself, Twinsanity is such a underrated gem
I'm watching the video, you did an incredible job and I loved every second of it, congratulations on the effort you made!
It's actually insane that Crash Twinsanity has still never been to GDQ. One of the most fun and simple to learn speed games i've ever seen.
Hoping it gets in soon, Joe’s been trying for a while now.
I hope it does! The all levels or 100% category would make for a lit session
@@rac1equalsbestgame853 yeah, i was thinking of 100% in particular it's a very fun one
If any game can be broken into pieces and finished in less time than it takes to prepare and cook dinner it's Crash Twinsanity. Glitches are a speedrunner's best friend.
I swear i remember when i had my ps2 i saw a video about the nut skip and kept trying it not knowing how to do it
Fantastic video for an equally fantastic speedrun. It seems like anything is possible with this game it you believe hard enough.
I wouldn't even be surprised if someone finds a wrong warp at some point x)
Just yesterday I encountered your channel and now you upload an hour long video, amazing.
Great video! Very well-researched and organised :D
I played this game as a kid and never got past rusty walrus chase. You have no idea how vindicated I feel hearing that it was just super difficult LOL
I had to practice it for literal hours to learn how to do it fast, and I’m one of the top runners for the game lol.
One of my favourite childhood games. My favourite game on Playstation 2.
Goated acapella soundtrack, severely underated game. Playing as Nina and everything dude
I'm just a lowly viewer so take this with a grain of salt, but your narration and editing are so good that I feel like if you branched out to other game histories/ topics, you would easily be a S tier speedtuber like abyssoft and summoning salt. You got my subscription though!
I love seeing people talk about this game, I've seen a lot of speedrunning history videos but it never dawned on me that Twinsanity might have an active speedrunning scene with some crazy executions due to how unfinished the game is. This is a fantastic video
Drinking game: take a shot every time Riko says infamous or notorious
Like for using Tarmac Trouble & Al's Penthouse OST from Toy Story 2. W.
What an amazing video, congrats again! 🥰
Wow, super interesting glitches! Great video!
It's really fun and intertaining to watchall these crazy skips.
Wouldnt be a true Speedrunning documentary without Samuraiman
Crash Twinsanity was my favourite PS2 game; I only ever had a few of them but to this day I still love cracking open the busted up GameStop case and putting my old PS2 Phat to work while listening to the timeless acapella soundtrack. This is nostalgia incarnate
22:03, 1:05:34
Croc 2 Music my beloved
Am i the only one who couldnt get past the 2 bosses and chase boss at 11:00 when i was a kid? This was super dificult lol
Twinsanity’s difficulty curve is extremely strange; a lot of really hard stuff is very early on and then it gets kinda chill towards the end but then it also throws Ant Agony at you lol.
@@RikoKSB How can you tell when you have mecha glitch?
@@Richtofen-gy9cj If, during the cutscene before the last phase of the final boss, the Mecha Bandicoot doesn't lift its left arm after roaring.
BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE THIS
UA-cam recommended coming in clutch to show me another new speedrun documentary channel.
awesome video
