Great video. I'm glad to see more out for the Pi 5!
Thank you! Much more coming! Received a new touch-screen display that I'll be testing as well as an entire kit that will be shipping in Jan. Both arrived yesterday, so I'll be testing both over the next few days. Should be very interesting stuff you'll see soon.
Anyone else having trouble getting sound working? All I get is "Dummy Audio" for output devices.
Thanks for a nice video.
Any Idea how to change the taskbar to make it look like the classical one, like in the Ubuntu Mate?
Thank you! Honestly, that's an area I've not explored myself. I don't want to pretend I know what I'm talking about here as I truly don't. However, here's a how-to thread that seems to know a bit about it: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=77694
As far as I know, currently you can only boot Ubuntu 23.10 from microSD card.
It will not boot from USB flash drive or SSD using SATA to USB adapter.
helpful
Glad it helped
Please make a video how to install retro pie on raspberry pi 5
Thank you for your request, I'll see what I can do. RetroPie for the Pi5 isn't officially released yet, but I could come up with a preliminary guide for testing. Is that what you're looking for?
All of this because I tried installing mate desktop and then after I rebooted I'm greeted with a blinking cursor. And no idea how to get into the command line to try and fix it or uninstall mate.
please help. my raspberry pi imager not recognizing sd card, eventhou i can see the sd card in the files. im using ubuntu 20. any solution
A few things you can try: 1) reboot your computer 2) try a different card and/or re-format your current one using Pi Imager, then try to re-flash it. Here's how to re-format it: wagnerstechtalk.com/common/#Format_as_FAT32_Pi_Imager
Or is Ubuntu that doesn't want us to be able to switch the boot order and use another desktop OS?
Why doesn't the raspberry pi have its own bios or use one of the already available open source bios?
I’m sorry I’m having trouble understanding the sd card part. I don’t know why it’s confusing me 😩
Basically, Pi Imager downloads the image you selected and writes it to the microSD card. Then, when you insert that card into the Pi5, it will start up into Ubuntu. It basically handles all the downloading, extracting and writing to the card in one step to make it easy. Hope this helps.
Have you tried connecting to the pi 5's hotspot mode? I've tried but I can't get my Android phone to connect?
I personally have not, but here's a thread that may be helpful to you: forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=305215
@@WagnersTechTalk Yeah. No. It's not that easy. Although it should be.
Where's the Raspi-Config?
It's in PiOS Desktop, not in Ubuntu, two different operating systems. Here's info on setting up PiOS Desktop: ua-cam.com/video/ZH6vfvRstfM/v-deo.html
I am on write ubuntu image right now but when i try it setup section screen stucks at loading screen and nothing happens. I put the micro sd cart on raspi 5 and open the power then rest is just did i say. Can you please help me for it
Try reformatting the card (here's how: wagnerstechtalk.com/common/#Format_as_FAT32_Pi_Imager ), then re-write the image for Ubuntu and see if that helps. If not, please try a different card. The one you're using may be defective, it's rare but can happen.
@@WagnersTechTalk I am using raspberry pi imager for write the image for ubuntu but its crash every time. Actually at first everything looks good(it says OK for every download)but then its turned to the FAILED or DEPENDS
So i tried re-write rasbian(debian) to the same micro sd card and its succesful and interface is open. Is it about ubuntu or sd card i still dont know
Why can't you change the boot order from Ubuntu on the raspberry pi 5? This pisses me off. Are they trying to make it proprietary meaning that you can do certain things in other desktops or OSes? I only see boot into desktop or command line.
Why can't you just change the boot order from the raspberry Pi itself outside of the OS? This is stupid having to change SD cards all of the time or reimage them to do certain things.
do I need to press something on the keyboard or something? It's my 5th tutorial, I flashed Ubuntu, put it in the pi5 and "nothing happens" (technically, I'm in the CLI of pi5)
Everyone else seems to have Ubuntu just launch by itself...
After flashing the Ubuntu image to the microSD, insert it into the Pi5 and make sure it's green (powered on). It should boot up. If not, most likely reason is the microSD card is corrupt. Try a different brand card or re-flash your current one. Something here should help.
that's what I'm doing. The SD card was brand new... Real time edit: it just booted!@@WagnersTechTalk
@@SLRModShop Great news, was there some issue that you resolved or it just took a little bit to boot?
I opened the new card (Kingston 256Gb), tried with that one, it didn't work. Grabbed a 32Gb that I had laying around and it did. Same process, the issue came from the SD card itself. Then I had to go back to work so wouldn't test any further@@WagnersTechTalk
May not be your issue, but sometimes you can get cards that are fake. That is, a company will brand it as a name-brand card but won't be the made by that company (fake/illegal card). I've had this happen with USB sticks in the past claiming to be 1TB sticks but actually weren't name brand and poor quality.
Hi guys, is pi5 could install ubuntu22.04?
The version currently available is 23.10 for the Pi 5.
@@WagnersTechTalk but the 23.10 only support until July 2024
True, but it might see an extension. 23.10 is the only version available for the Pi5, at the current time.
ok thanks
Why would I go from Raspberry OS to Ubuntu? Is the original one 'retarded' in any way or is it fully usable OS?
It's just an option. Use the OS that makes sense for your use case.
